".The phone started shifting from the 4G network to the 3G network after midnight which is consistent with the phone being in an area of poor reception. "

LTE only works on 4G. There is a big difference in timing advance between GSM (3G) and LTE (4G). GSM timing advance will be 550 meters versus 78 meters for 4G.

By using cell tower triangulation (3 towers), it is possible to determine a phone location to within an area of about ¾ square mile.

Hello Sleuths,

The attached photos are from various dates in 2019. As you can see the cricket nets were also used as a parking space for numerous locals. There is one car in particular that has been frequently photographed parking here throughout 2019. Has there been any investigation into this? Could Theo have possibly met someone at a car for 7 minutes before heading to the beach?
These photos are from satellite images from NEARMAP. The dates of photos are at the bottom of the images.

Thanks,

I think that dark blue car/station wagon could be a VW Passat Variant 2010ish
Here's a screenshot from Google StreetView April 2023 at the end of Cowper St, which is just the other side of the REC field.

note the silver roof rack. the odds of two very similar cars with silver roof racks being parked at the same location but at different times would likely be relatively low. unless that particular car was very popular

Agree, but if someone is living from their car it’s not unusual to return to spots you know you won’t get moved on from.
There was a lady living in her bus called the black Pearl and people got so angry at her parking certain places it ended up getting torched. A Passat is a bit more inconspicuous than a bus though haha

absolutely. but the owners of these vehicles (the white van and the VW Passat station wagon) should be interviewed by the police IMO. ASAP. Were they at the REC ground the night Theo disappeared? As you mention they will usually continue parking in a spot they don't get moved from. The photos @BruceBanner posted confirm this. From seeing the 2023 Google Streetview I think there's a good chance both vehicles remain in that area. If they were parking there that night they must/might have seen or heard something, or they could be involved in some way. The movement of Theo's cellphone from the REC grounds also points to the possibility Theo's phone moved across the field in a vehicle.

Sattelite images from different dates throughout 2019:

Theo walks right next to the spot where the white van usually parks and then walks to where the dark blue vehicle is::

I doubt they’ve been spoken to by police but it could be worth forwarding the info onto the investigators?
Not sure the process of requesting number plates from google but surely there would be one for law enforcement? Or even the Coroner might be able to request it?

There's a VW repair shop on Bayshore Dr, they might have serviced the station wagon. These vehicles seem to have been around in BB for quite a long time it shouldn't be very hard for the police to find out who the owners are.

this is a screenshot from one of Mr hominoid's videos, this is the corner of Tennyson and Marvel St. The headlights of the car make it look like a well-lit area but the only light ahead would have been that streetlight at the end of Tennyson so the entire area to the right would have been very dark and to the left on Marvel St there was more light. Yet Theo continued on Tennyson and more surprisingly crossed to the other side where it would have been very dark. Unless of course there was a van maybe with lights on parked right there at the end of the green line which coincides with the location of the van in 2 of the satellite images and Google Streetview. thanks for driving by @HinterlandObserver

Yes from memory there were no actual street lights only the lights from the rec ground but I don’t believe they were on that late.

it would have taken 5 minutes (google maps data) to walk to Cowper St by crossing the rec field on the well-lit footpath. But there's only a gap of 3:26 between the activity on theo's phone behind the cricket nets and the use of google maps on the other side of the field on Cowper St. Theo's phone couldn't have reached Carlyle St by him or someone else walking or even running IMO

some of these pins are from theo going up to the end of Tennyson St and others going down. Notice there are two pins on the exact location where we've seen that white van/camper being parked. One pin is from Theo walking to the end of the street at around 11:13PM and the other pin appears to be from around 11:22. Getting into the van?

it's the message with Lou that really seems to place Theo at cosy corner that night IMO. my guess is he went there with the people he bumped into at the REC field (maybe with the guy who owns the white camper and probably others too) I do believe he made it to little wategos or at least the footpath nearby.
