The inquest heard today that neighbours of William’s foster grandmother heard a car do a U-turn on Benaroon Drive on the morning in question.

Peter and Sharelle Crabb, who lived at 51 Benaroon Drive at the time, heard the sound of a vehicle turning and driving away.

Neighbour were on veranda at back of the house

The Crabbs were on their veranda at the back of the house, but Mr Craddock told the inquest “residents of Benaroon Drive would notice there were cars if there were cars”.

Asked if the street was “very quiet and noise travels”, Sgt Beacroft said Benaroon Drive was “extremely quiet”.

Asked also if she had been “sceptical” abut the Crabbs’ evidence, Sgt Beacroft said she had “done a lot of work with them”, investigating the claim including visiting them at home in June 2016.

It had been a cold day and the windows and doors at 51 Benaroon Drive were closed when Sharelle Crabb said to Sgt Beacroft: “Listen, do you hear anything?”

When Sgt Beacroft did listen, she then “heard the sound of a car coming up Benaroon Drive”, although she hadn’t heard it when Mrs Crabb did “two to three seconds before I did”.

The inquest heard that when police investigating the disappearance of William came up with no clues, eye witnesses, evidence or confessions, they came up with 404 potential “persons of interest”.

PS driveway was not the only place where there was gravel, close by to the FGM house ..

Their [Crabb’s] house is, however, the last one on Benaroon Drive before the bitumen stops and the road suddenly turns into a gravel fire trail leading into the state forest, and up to the old Kendall cemetery. You need a four-wheel drive to get up there. It’s not possible in a sedan, and it seems likely that the driver had just realised that and was using the Millers’ driveway to do a three-point turn to get out of the street again.”

There could have been little bits of rocks and gravel anywhere. The sound is described as a car moving on a gravel driveway.
Anyone who has a next door neighbour with a gravel driveway, or has a gravel driveway themselves, can speak of the sound of all the gravel crunching. It does not sound like a car driving on dirt mixed with grass mixed with a few stones.

Here is the DT article that speaks of it. Dated 16th Feb 2020. It is in the court testimony.

Police and search teams are now focusing on the possibility that missing toddler William Tyrell was picked up by someone in a car when he disappeared last Friday.

From an article on 18 September 2014…. 6 days after William went missing …

I have managed to find an article about the gravel, but again it is from Jubelin, at the time of his trial…

A couple who lived on Benaroon Drive also told police they heard the sound of a car moving on a gravel driveway. Savage had a gravel driveway, the court heard.

"the court heard". From testimony under oath in court.

I cannot imagine a police officer testifying under oath to something that could easily be dispelled (from the police records/witness statements) if it was not accurate. And it seems that it was not challenged by the prosecutor.

Did I say that??? No … I was just saying the source was the same …. Apologies if you misunderstood my post ..

He did in deed Slouth. PS had a very long gravel driveway and from memory his now deceased wife HS left home that morning at 10:47/8. So the timing is a little off with The Crabbs hearing the sound of a car around 10:05/10.
As mentioned in a previous post there was also the gravel track within metres from the fgm home that takes you through Middle Brother Forest .

I'm open to a number of theories and suspects. Since the focus has been put on the FFFC by the police and media, I am focusing on her as per TOS. There is no evidence I'm aware of, to point at a death having taken place, accidental or not. I think she is a strong suspect for WT's abduction. The how and the motive might well be found amongst the information and people that helped bring the children into her home to begin with. I feel really terrible, because even when hearing her "sobbing" outside court, I don't believe her. Everything about her tells me, she constantly lies, she is comfortable with lying and it works for her. Deeply troubling to me that all my instincts go off when I hear her, if she is innocent of any crime. I wonder about her pathology because if guilty, I get a sense that most people have not encountered someone like herself before, and would be incredulous/ could not imagine that she was a con. IMO
Excellent synopsis iiiii's....apart from the FFC consistent inconsistent accounts of what she did in the vital period before calling 000 (I read the banned book before it was banned)...I can't get my head around why the FFC talks about WT in the PRESENT tense....like 'I pray he's safe, I pray he's cherished....We don't know who's got him...we know nothing about it.... I haven't touched him...'

ive said this before, but have always felt ffc and possibly mfc are responsible for ws harm and death,
and now wonder if he was over disciplined, i also wonder if ffc has sociopathic tendencies,
ive always thought whoever harmed william was someone very intelligent,
it also seems to help if you appear wealthy with some social standing and influential friends and collegues,
they have the finances to afford good legal advice and for some reason still allowed to remain anonymous,
we all want justice for little william and also his sister
Oscar Pistorius in court springs to mind....

Um.... this car, stopping and pivoting, how did the ffcg not hit this car when she was coming and going (in the fgma's car), ahem, during the same time frame? I think what the neighbors heard was, in fact, the one car we know was in operation that morning -- the fgma's. Driven more aggressively than the fgma would've likely ever driven it.

As to the pivot and gravel crunching, maybe the ffcg backed in... or pulled in and backed out (maybe to park the car in a different spot than she'd taken it from). She had been on some kind if mission, known maybe only her. She had the means, motive and opportunity to drive a vehicle on B Drive at precisely the timeframe Wm "disappeared"... I don't think she thought she had to worry about ear witnesses.....

I think you are totally right Megnut.

The car they heard could have been the FGM's car because that had to have left and returned. - So heard twice possibly within 10 minutes drive out and back. Accounting for maybe the wife hearing it at one time and the husband the other time.

If the person driving it doesn't usually drive it - it might have sounded different to the neighbours than usual.

Who even knows when the FGM last drove her own car even due to her recent health problems. Maybe she only goes out once a week on a Wednesday. MOO

I live in a dead end street and have recently put a garden in the front facing the street, so now in the early morning I water, prune and further extend the garden.

This is very enlightening because.

Now I know - who has Thurdays off. Who plays golf on a Monday. Who drives their kids to school. Who has cleaners. Who has weekly visitors, who parks their car in the medium strip. Who gets uber eats. Who walks their dog. Its a new discovery that before I had the garden - I only vaguely knew. MOO

Agree. I also believe it was the fgm car that the Crabbs heard that morning driven by Ffc. The only time Ffc provides information about that drive is in her walkthrough. I don’t believe it’s mentioned in her statements to police or was even discussed at the inquest. Unless someone can provide details otherwise

Except the inquest testimony was that Mrs Crabb heard the car come up the road reasonably fast, do a u-turn, and continue on its way.

If it was FM, surely the vehicle sound would have been of a vehicle going down the road (receding from their hearing), and then coming back up?

Thread 67, post 546

And if it was FM coming up the road reasonably fast, she wouldn't have been u-turning and continuing back down the road. She would have been parking in the carport.

I thought they only heard one car between them but didn't agree on the time. You think Mr C heard two cars?

For a minute or so? is a long time.
Could Mr Crabb have heard the MFC reversing out (on unpaved driveway in front of the FFGM’s garage because the Mazda was in the carport) at 9.30am … it has been said that he was running late, so drove fast?

William Tyrrell: how new evidence revived the case and triggered a fresh search effort
“William’s foster father had left the home at 9.30am to drive out of the town to find better mobile reception for a Skype call and to fill a script at a chemist – actions which have been verified by police.

By the time he arrived back at the home, his wife has said she had already searched the house and garden for him, and had then taken her mother’s car and driven it down Benaroon Drive looking for him, before returning, figuring he couldn’t have travelled that far from the home.”

Both Mr & Mrs Crabb could have then heard the FFC drive off in the Mazda around 10am …. and returning some time later (The foster mother said she saw the text after she had started looking for William). William Tyrrell's foster mother filmed retracing her steps with police

As an aside, the Crabbs could also have heard the MFC return to park in front of the garage once again.

One Nation MP and former detective Rod Roberts believes the current police investigation should be scrapped and a fresh team of detectives appointed to start over.

Mr Roberts, a former senior instructor at the Detectives Training Course, said: “It’s been a dog’s breakfast of an investigation as far as I’m concerned.

“There needs to be a whole new team, a fresh set of eyes.

And yet the Commissioner is calling for Politics and Personalities to be removed from William’s Investigation …. same article

Perhaps the last line of the article is the most interesting …

What are the results of the forensics testing? We’ve heard nothing.”

Paywalled article

Not unless the Crabbs came home earlier than they thought.

I imagine an imp running around Kendall on the Thursday night, deviating the times on clocks and watches and other devices.
