Prosecutor Brendan Queenan submitted that the extensive publicity surrounding this case had effectively punished Jones outside the court system.
“It is above and beyond what you might expect,” Mr Queenan told the court.
The sentence was reduced to take into account that Jones’ early pleas of guilty had “utilitarian value” within the justice system.

The prosecutor was pointing these things out
TY Soso and TGY, I'm not sure whether the new legislation is retrospective or not, would be nice if it is. But.
If it's not, then any offenders could be notified (via public notice in newspapers for example) that an amnesty period is available for "you" to present yourself now or face the new law.... (if they miss the notice, tough luck!) ??? The community needs to be protected.
She (MS) said one of the children the couple had cared for had got it when he was four.Any child phycologists around? This 'bond' of the 4 year old just isn't sitting well with me.
it was gifted to him by a four-year-old child 'to keep him company when he was driving',

Paedophiles car seized in Tyrrell case
A WHITE station wagon has been seized from the home of a person of interest in the William Tyrrell investigation.
On September 16 the car was towed away from the home of Tony Jones, a paedophile who was yesterday sentenced to three years in jail over the aggravated indecent assault of a minor.
Only three nights earlier Detective Inspector Gary Jubelin said police were seeking information about a white station wagon and grey sedan seen parked on Benaroon Dr, Kendall, on the morning William went missing from that street.

interesting the media didn't (or weren't allowed to) report on this vehicle until today, 10 days after it happened.I'm hoping there is a reason for this delay taking so long for the cops to string that together??

"The child left it in the van for (Mr Spedding) to keep him company when he was driving," the*Daily Telegraph*reported Mrs Spedding saying.
