hi everyone following recent events with great interest and sadness too for little William's family. Have nothing of particular interest to add (thanks to everyone for their insights and contributions) but wanted to give a shout out of thanks and gratitude to our Police and DI Jubelin. I can't begin to imagine the awful things they must see and hear when dealing with the sordid scum in our society when trying to protect the innocent. Guys and ladies-thank you. You are heroes.

Prosecutor Brendan Queenan submitted that the extensive publicity surrounding this case had effectively punished Jones outside the court system.

“It is above and beyond what you might expect,” Mr Queenan told the court.

The sentence was reduced to take into account that Jones’ early pleas of guilty had “utilitarian value” within the justice system.

The prosecutor was pointing these things out

Astonishing imo -
Definition of Utilitarian: the system of thought that states that the best action or decision in a particular situation is the one that brings most advantages to the most people
(Definition of utilitarianism from the Cambridge Advanced Learner’s Dictionary & Thesaurus © Cambridge University Press)

We speak the same language don't we?
What "utilitarian value" could his plea possibly have ?? Advantageous to whom exactly ?? Is it possible he grassed on other peados ? What about his victims? What value did his plea have to them?

I am just disgusted by this, sorry if my post is not relevant. All in my very angry O anyway.

Just some random thoughts, did this POI give the police some useful information the day before his sentencing? I'm surprised we didn't hear a list of his previous offences at his sentencing.
It seems like the police were questioning him within days of William missing, wondering if this is when his victim spoke up.
Williams mums appeals seem to be to the partner of the perp, does this guy have a partner.
Old washing machines would provide scrap metal.
This guy may have some useful info but I'm sticking with original POI.

TY Soso and TGY, I'm not sure whether the new legislation is retrospective or not, would be nice if it is. But.

If it's not, then any offenders could be notified (via public notice in newspapers for example) that an amnesty period is available for "you" to present yourself now or face the new law.... (if they miss the notice, tough luck!) ??? The community needs to be protected.

Great idea seek. It should be looked into for sure. Like the gun amnesty/buy back 'twas only the farmers and the good guys who handed them in.

Any child phycologists around? This 'bond' of the 4 year old just isn't sitting well with me.

it was gifted to him by a four-year-old child 'to keep him company when he was driving',

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...son-case-missing-toddler-William-Tyrrell.html
She (MS) said one of the children the couple had cared for had got it when he was four.

"The child left it in the van for (Mr Spedding) to keep him company when he was driving," the*Daily Telegraph*reported Mrs Spedding saying.

And then there's this....

Speaking to*The Daily Telegraph, Bill's wife Margaret said her husband was gifted the doll by a local child to "keep him company" in the van.

Local child, child they cared for, which is it? And I swear I read also MS saying that their grandson gave it to him??? Confusing.

Paedophile’s car seized in Tyrrell case

A WHITE station wagon has been seized from the home of a person of interest in the William Tyrrell investigation.

On September 16 the car was towed away from the home of Tony Jones, a paedophile who was yesterday sentenced to three years in jail over the aggravated indecent assault of a minor.

Only three nights earlier Detective Inspector Gary Jubelin said police were seeking information about a white station wagon and grey sedan seen parked on Benaroon Dr, Kendall, on the morning William went missing from that street.

I'm hoping there is a reason for this delay taking so long for the cops to string that together??

Ex-Assistant NSW Police Commissioner, Clive Small, gives his analysis of the William Tyrrell investigation; and, investigations of this type more generally, in an interview with the Daily Telegraph's Crime Editor, Mark Morri:

Click on the soundcloud file embedded in the link below; under the heading "LISTEN TO CLIVE SMALL DISCUSS THE CASE THAT HAS BAFFLED POLICE":

http://m.dailytelegraph.com.au/news...-in-tyrrell-case/story-fni0cx12-1227544386695

(Note: Clive Small's investigations included: the murder of anti-drugs campaigner, Donald Mackay; the Nugan Hand Bank; the shooting of NSW Police Officer, Michael Drury; the murder of Cabramatta MP, John Newman; and the 'Backpacker Murders', which led to Ivan Milat being convicted.)

Very informative!

I think the owner of the grey sedan would be *advertiser censored* his pants right now!
They've named Bill Spedding and his 4WD..
Now Tony Jones and his white station wagon..
How long till they come after me and my grey sedan...?

Or his wife / friends / neighbours...
It's only a matter of time I think.

Media making it up as they go?

Must dash. Lots of things to-do, to-do, to-do, to-do, to-do, to-do, to-do to-day...

I don't understand how these people can look at themselves in the mirror defending these monsters.

I defend people accused of criminal offences every day and I have no problem looking at myself in the mirror.

Thanks for this Mellie, though I feel quite ill looking at this vehicle. What terrible things might have happened within :( I feel so sad :( I do however have great faith in the LE's progress with this case, albeit seeming slow (to us), but with so little to go on they seem to be making progress and rowing up those ducks slowly but surely.

My heart goes out to the FM and FD; I cannot imagine how they are dealing with this. Also thinking of William's sister; how utterly awful that her life was, like William's, starting to become more settled with loving and caring FPs, then her brother was cruelly taken from her. How could anyone ever explain it to her or make sense of it :(

Is it in the public domain where this latest POI lives?
