In this video Sandra says "Police have vital new information and potentially a new suspect"

How interesting the choice of words on 10 with 'new suspect', whilst 7 went with 'new lead'.

IMO, two very different meanings.

It's long been recognized that the meaning of words influences human behaviour. The Bible tells us that 'reckless words pierce like a sword......'
Then over the years we've learnt about 'Power Words' - words used by copywriters to bring about a phycological or emotional response.

I wonder were these words used on purpose in those reports...

Thank you for all that SA. I still don't really see it. It seems the squad has mostly an anti-terrorist and oppress-political-enemies focus. I would have thought there was a big difference between searching for a missing person in that context--say, an illegal immigrant--and searching for a child's body or evidence in relation to and at the site of a child abduction. And if they're such specialists in evidence retrieval, why weren't they used earlier?

I personally see this as a more coordinated search by people highly trained, as opposed to volunteers, who unbeknownst & most unintentional, could have missed or even covered clues.

I stay hopeful for a solution & anyone with a hand in his disappearance will feel the 'full extent of the law' as opposed to the half-baked excuses being handed down by so many who preside our benches these modern days.

Maybe searches on private property will carry warrants this time, looking for evidence? The public announcement prior to the searches may be to take the heat of specific residents in the community's eyes but looking, testing, gathering for something specific from surrounding households?

JLZ I’m not sure what that means. TIA.
If someone had weighted and concealed the body under water, they could then pretend to be one of the searchers and keep an eye on that area, be in possession of that piece of water as something they were in the process of searching so no one else did. And what Bearbear said #1228.

Or maybe to put the heat on. If someone did harm William and his remains are concealed out there somewhere, someone is going to have more than a few sleepless nights over the next month. What did DCI Jubelin say? ‘I would be sweating.’, or words to that effect?

Besides residents in the street, the 1st search on the Friday was initially done by the police before the volunteers were let into the area. The volunteers were soon co ordinated from the showground. What is reported about this new search is puzzling with what was initially reported in the 1st few weeks of the case, where every scenario was reportedly being considered....

The following is a part of the Coronial Findings in Belinds Peisley's missing persons case. I thought that the procedure outlined in her notes was followed in WT's case and therefore a forensic search for WT would have already been done.

Current NSW police procedure provides that for the first 72 hours of an investigation into a homicide or suspicious death a detective from the Homicide Squad should be the leading investigator, unless or until, the Homicide Squad decides otherwise.83 This procedure was introduced following recommendations made by Magistrate Jane Culver, now Deputy Chief Magistrate, on 5 August 2008 following the inquest into the death of Rachelle Leigh Childs84. In my view the reasons identified by Her Honour for the introduction of this procedure apply equally in the case of a person who goes missing in suspicious circumstances. The current NSW Police Missing Persons Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) provides that when a person is reported missing to a police officer a risk assessment is to be undertaken in order to determine the possible risk of harm to the missing person and to guide the police response to the notification. Consistent with the current police procedure that during the first 72 hours following a homicide a detective from the Homicide Squad should be the leading investigator I believe that it would be appropriate, and in order to ensure that that procedure is implemented effectively, that in the case of a missing person report where the risk 83 See E41 84 Glebe File 0430/2005 28 assessment indicates that there is a high, or very high, risk that the missing person has been the victim of a homicide or otherwise suspicious death, the Homicide Squad should be immediately advised of the circumstances of the disappearance and if they consider it appropriate assume leadership of the investigation in accordance with the first 72 hour procedures. I propose to make a recommendation to the Commissioner of Police to this effect.

from early reports the first weeks, the police search was intensive, and didnt they do a grid search also? and some houses searched numerous times, looking for a missing child, so with this new search being forensic, does this mean they are searching for forensic evidence like blood, hair a body etc and using specialized crime scene equipment like thermal imaging, luminol testing etc, they must have some serious intel to be given funding and possible search warrants for this 4 week search

I agree but it's described as a bush search............

The house at no. 35 still haunts me. It was also put on the market several weeks after William’s disappearance.

yes youre right, and im off on my tangent about them searching houses!
it sadly seems theyre searching for a little body hidden in the bush and with possible new focus on someone who thinks they got away with it

It may not be solely a bush search ... maybe it will primarily be a bush search. Some articles seem to include "Kendall" in the search description, while others just say "bush". Maybe Jubes will reveal more tomorrow in the presser.

Strike Force Rosann detectives will on Wednesday begin a four-week search of Kendall and the surrounding bushland ....

BBM I think everything is being used on purpose in these current articles. There is absolutely no reason why the public should have been informed of this intended search.

William Tyrrell: Strike Force Rosann announces four-week forensic ...
"The latest search, which is to begin on June 13 from a search command centre set up on Benaroon Drive, is being coordinated by search experts from the Public Order and Riot Squad."

Interesting that they'll have the command centre in Benaroon Drive. Assuming they think he's somewhere close by or there is crucial evidence close by to the house that wasn't discovered earlier. I would assume they would have done crucial "forensic" testing and searching immediately surrounding the house early on. Especially as they hadn't gone down the abduction route immediately. I can only guess that new information has come to light or something was found. flagged and put aside early on and only now being revisited. Something overlooked? Everything crossed they find what they need quickly.
Also of note was that they canvassed 480 residences. Did that include all the SO in the area and POI that have been named publicly? None of them have stated having their houses searched apart from BS as we know.
