After William disappeared, there were also rumours that on the day he vanished a a well-dressed man called into a local store in Kew asking for directions to the street William went missing from.
Is this William Tyrrell's abductors' escape route?

But someone asked for directions to Benaroon drive.

bringing over from post 461 # 40

Sgt Rowley
He also asked every business if anyone had “shown interest” in Benaroon Drive, and identified someone at a local cafe who had asked for directions, the court heard. @10Daily @10NewsFirst

For some reason I seem to think this man had been in a black car (maybe or maybe not a Camry though, I don't think the type of black car was ever published). Maybe he was travelling in the car with a woman?

I do recall he was later discounted ... presumably they found him, or found what he was doing there. I think we thought, at the time, he could have been looking at the property for sale on the street. I think a house has now been built on that empty lot that was for sale just across the road from FGM's old place.

The only woman I recall was a heavy set one standing by her car somewhere on Batar Creek Road. Maybe a white car?

I looked back through some of the threads. The link about the black 'car' is dead. But there is this post from Amee and my response to it ... so I think we read or determined somewhere along the line that the man asking for directions was in a black car (possibly/probably the Camry).

So this truck driver called Ray on the 16 September and the below article is on the 19 September and says he was pulled over at the road block.

Superintendent Paul Fehon said police were desperate for any leads and hoped someone might remember seeing something as they drove past Benaroon Drive last Friday.

One driver who was pulled over at the police road block on Friday told officers about a black Camry that a truck driver had noticed in the area several times last Friday.
It is believed the information had already been canvassed by police and discounted.

The driver stopped at the road block might have heard the truck driver's story via the local station (the Morning Show runs across several states). If the truck driver didn't call police himself, and if the radio station didn't pass on his details, it's possible (possible, though unlikely) that police might have only checked the Camry because of secondhand reports like the one at the road block - they might not have checked the truck driver.

But it's more likely that police did follow up and talk to him. He said he got to Kew at 09:00 and left Kendall about 11:30/12:00, so he would have been in the area at the right time to possibly have useful information.

I remember the truck driver complaining on SM that the police hadn't got back to him yet.
Presumably, they got back to him some time later. When they had time and got to him, with all of the tips that were flooding in to them at the time.

IIRC the police had already followed up on the black car info and discounted it, when the truck driver was complaining.

i found this someone had posted, (post 32) it sounds like its been quoted from msm......

There is this link for that info, bearbear. That is, if you want to edit your link. :)

Another early article.

Police are still investigating a number of tips, including reports that a 'well-dressed, well-spoken' man stopped at a local shop on Friday morning to ask directions to Batar Creek Road, which leads to Benaroon Drive where William was last seen.
But there have been plenty of false leads.

The Australian reports that Family and Community Services have also been called into the investigation as police admitted the only hope they hold for William being alive is if he had been abducted.

Plenty of false leads? Maybe they mean leads that haven't panned out to be anything worthwhile or significant?

Just reading further in your link ... William now has yet another set of fresh eyes on his case, 2nd lot of fresh eyes since this all began.

It is so worrying that with all of these specialised police on the case, a perp has yet to be arrested and there are still multiple POIs. Bit concerning, too, that the Coroner may come back with an open finding - due to this - and the investigation will be forever ongoing, with William's whereabouts remaining unknown.

On Monday, Supt Fehon said extra resources from the Public Order Riot Squad and additional staff from the Central Coast and Newcastle had joined the search.
'They're new relief, they're fresh eyes, they've gone back over ground but they haven't come up with anything at this stage,' he said.
'But we're going to continue with those fresh teams to retrace over and make sure there's nothing left unturned.'

Maybe you are right.

I do find it interesting that Rowley was asked about the someone asking for directions. I wonder who asked him that?

I am also curious as to what pieces of information had come to light that had been designed to waste police's time.

Counsel assisting the coroner Gerard Craddock SC told a directions hearing at the NSW Coroners Court on Wednesday that while a number of pieces of information of "varying" quality had already come to light some of it had been designed to "waste police's time".

"Designed" to waste police time. Trolls, malicious intent, purposeful misleading?

And your link brings us back to the same thing we have heard for so long ...... BBM
How can they be so sure? There must be a ton of stuff that we do not yet know.

"There's undoubtedly somebody out there who knows more and who has not been in contact yet," he (Mr Craddock) said.

I haven't noticed this quote before...

"There is no evidence presently available to establish that William is in fact dead, although there is a wealth of evidence to raise suspicion," he said.

Evidence will show William Tyrrell 'was likely taken', inquest told

I wonder what makes up the 'wealth' of evidence.

Lets hope this wealth of evidence is able to establish the truth, and be able to assist in proving who is responsible for Williams abduction and/or possible murder.

I wonder what could make up that type of evidence when we are considering a very young child. It certainly couldn't be lack of online activity, no phone usage, not using their bank accounts, and other indications we hear of when an adult goes missing.

The only things I can think of are discovery of perhaps hair, blood, clothing, vehicle (and mysterious seatbelt?) sightings in remote/unusual areas, other people's internet activity (perhaps dark web), tips from police informers ....

Remember the Crime Stoppers alert that was put out in 26 countries? I highly unusual thing for police to do.
I wonder if anything became of that, and what spurred them to do that in the first place. Very wide coverage for a Crime Stoppers alert.

Wow , alert put out in 26 countries? That's interesting. What about the photo on the Indian Train that circulated years ago. If you google William Tyrrell and Indian Train you will find it.

Any thoughts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Real or not real (photoshopped)? Still think it's interesting.
