BBM: No, that would have been my mother-in-law. She gave my house the white glove treatment every time she came to visit.

How do they know this? I mean, how do they know the scratches were on his 'hands' and 'arms'. How can they be sure they didn't come from somewhere else on his body?
That thought never occurred to me until just this moment. Does anyone have the answer for this? I don't know a lot about forensics.
Bessie posted: They probably don't know for certain, but they DO know that defensive wounds are most often found on an assailant's arms and hands.
ETA: Unless it's possible to detect that from skin cells, or perhaps an arm hair was attached to the skin.

I think that's a highly likely possibility, which is why they know the perp was scratched.

She was beautiful, in every way. I've looked at so many photos of her. She was truly a lovely girl, with a beautiful face and countenance. She had a gorgeous complexion. You can tell that even from the photos. And of course that smile. In so many of the pics I have seen she is kissing her BF on the cheek. It was obvious she adored him. I'm just glad she got to do so many fun things, go to Paris, etc., her last year here.
Yes Nancy, my mom was one of those very protective moms who would have kept me home all my life away from all the dangers if she could have. Even after I was married with kids of my own she would beg me to come back home, worried about me constantly. Wanted us all to live in one great big house, me and my brother and her. LOL She offered to buy it. She was so sweet and so protective. I see you as being the same way.
But sooner or later we all must leave the nest........dangers and all.
I love the quote: "I'm not afraid of dying. I'm afraid of not living."
Allison lived her life to the fullest. We will all die some day, in some way.
But I understand how you feel.
Not that I'm aware of.Quotes from Bessie where it says "originally posted by Bessie"
Hi Bessie, thanks so much for your response to my question. I always find it so difficult to respond to multiple posts. I can do them, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to respond to them. lol
So, in your response you say that most defensive wounds are found on the arms and hands. That is so interesting. Do you know if they have also discovered any correlation to the types of wounds during a struggle say with someone the victim knew vs someone the victim didn't know.
Example: Trying to imagine someone fighting to defend theirself with a known assailant might not be as fearful as trying to defend ones self from someone you don't know, possibly.
Trying to understand this....to visualize what she might have been thinking, going through. You know, the 'fight or flight' syndrome. I think if someone I knew was attacking me I might fight more viciously because I would be so mad at them, whereas if the person was unknown to me I might be so terrified I would have a hard time defending myself.
Does this make any sense at all?
Thanks again, Bessie.
Good question Lilac!
The house is just sitting there, no for sale sign, no security sign, no dried flowers on the portch anymore. One of the neighbors, who met the family while they were here, set up a go fund me account to help the family pay for landscaping and pool upkeep while they are deciding what to do about the house, collecting their thoughts, etc.
I don't know how difficult that house will be to sell, under the circumstances. Especially since the killer hasn't been caught or arrested yet. People die in houses all the time and the realtor has to disclose that fact, but someone being murdered with the killer still being on the loose presents an entirely different scenario.
I don't think I would want to be the realtor who had the listing.
I'm wondering if the forensic evidence shows she was possibly strangled from behind at some point. That may be why no mention of scratches on perps face, only hands and arms?
So true, LayzeeDayzee! That's a lovely neighborhood actually. And we have lots of single women of all ages living alone here in Scottsdale. It is truly one of the safest places in the country. Even if a woman lives at home with her parents, things can happen. To survive in this world we always need to be cautious. You can get run over crossing the street.
Not the best analogy perhaps, but still, the truth!
Wonder how many are now armed.... (not meaning to turn thread into discussion of guns)... but it's nice having a gun... especially when someone is trying to bust into your house (as I can relate to) - of course you have to know gun safety and firepower...

I am. I have taken the concealed carry course though I chose not to get the permit. My town is pretty safe and I don't picture myself needing a gun on my person to go to our Wal-Mart or while out and about during my daily business. However...if someone breaks into my home, I will hear them before they get in through the three locked doors at either back or front. If they choose a window, my dog will alert me, trust me on that. I truly truly hope it never comes to this but I would not hesitate to kill an intruder. I can outshoot my husband who was a Sharpshooter in the Army.
I pray I never have to put those skills to use anywhere other than the pistol range though.

MissD, You had a wonderful mom. I am not overly protective and in fact, I've been naïve and not as street-smart as I should have been in situations. I think living alone as a young woman is okay depending on the area. Old Scottsdale sounds like a very popular area and it brings in people from all over, just like my area. I don't think it sounds safe, just as the beautiful area, I live in, I don't think is safe for a young woman alone. Now the upper Midwest where Allison is from is so safe, people leave their doors unlocked when they go to the store, etc. My 94 year old mother lives alone in a 3 bedroom ranch, with a basement, in the uppermidwest for the past 16 years! So this could be why her parents thought it was okay for her in Scottsdale. I would have differed since I have gotten street-smart living in areas all over the country. I have to say I was less scared at 31 years of age than I am now.

Great! I'm the same way. We also have multiple locked doors... OT - I can outshoot my gal, but she can run faster than me

You may be right. I never thought of that. LE is keeping things very close to their vest.
