4/4/22 Update: Murder: Cameras will not be allowed inside the courtroom during the trial of the man accused of murdering Isabel Celis & Maribel Gonzales, following a judge's ruling that officially went into effect Monday. As the trial needs a continuance twice, the judge says the ruling was made in order to summon more jurors & make sure Clements is afforded due process. Monday's ruling was also made with concern for Clements' safety. The judge also noted her decision to have no cameras in the courtroom was made to help accommodate the limited space in the courtroom due to COVID-19 protocols. Each victim's case is being tried separately. Next status conference hearings on 4/11/22. 4/11/22 Update: No info yet.
4/7/22: Order entered by court. 4/7/22 Thursday, Trial Day 7 for Burglary/Theft: No info available. Trial continues – probably on Tuesday, 4/12/22 as he has a hearing for murder charges on 4/11/22. Don't know if this is correct-whether they had trial on 4/11 or not.

*Melissa Stark (29 @ time of crime/now 32) charged (10/28/17), indicted (10/4/17 & 11/10/18) & arraigned (11/13/17 & 2/1/18) with 2nd degree fraud, 2 counts of 2nd degree burglary & 1 count of 3rd degree theft. Plead not guilty.
Trial was set to begin on 6/8/21 continued to 8/26/21 was vacated as she plead guilty with a plea deal on 6/4/21 to 2nd degree fraud & DA dismissed the 3rd degree theft & 2 counts of 2nd degree burglary. Sentencing was supposed to be in September. Release order (11/30/21) own recognizance for Stark. No updates as of 1/31/22.

hmmm.... I haven't been able to find anything current when I search this case. I'm going to leave it on 4/25 for Maribel's hearing/trial that day - after this burglary/theft trial is over.
If anyone noticed that they already have a sentencing date for this trial! LOL!

Clements’ defense attorneys and prosecutors asked for the continuation during a hearing on Monday, April 11. His next court appearance is a status conference, which is set for Tuesday, May 24.

Jury selection for Clements’ murder trial in the death of Maribel Gonzales is slated to begin on July 28. It had been set for April 19. The trial in the death of Isabel Celis is set to begin with jury selections Thursday, Sept. 8. The trial had been scheduled to begin on May 24.

So that explains why nothing shows up on the calendar. You can only go out 90 days. So when we get close to the 90 day prior mark for July 28 and Sept 8, then there should be dates on the calendar.

4/18/22 Monday, Trial Day 11 for Burglary/Theft: 4/18/22 Update: Jury found Clements guilty on fraudulent schemes/artifices, 2 counts of 2nd degree burglary & theft-control property. Sentencing hearing on 6/7/22.
Co-Defendant on Maricopa County case:
*Melissa Stark (29 @ time of crime/now 32) charged (10/28/17), indicted (10/4/17 & 11/10/18) & arraigned (11/13/17 & 2/1/18) with 2nd degree fraud, 2 counts of 2nd degree burglary & 1 count of 3rd degree theft. Plead not guilty.
Trial was set to begin on 6/8/21 continued to 8/26/21 was vacated as she plead guilty with a plea deal on 6/4/21 to 2nd degree fraud & DA dismissed the 3rd degree theft & 2 counts of 2nd degree burglary. Sentencing was supposed to be in September. Release order (11/30/21) own recognizance for Stark. No updates as of 1/31/22.

Trials postponed for Christopher Clements, man accused of killing Tucson girls

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - The trials of Christopher Clements, charged in the murders of 6-year-old Isabel Celis and 13-year-old Maribel Gonzalez, have been rescheduled for at least the third time.

Clements’ defense attorneys and prosecutors asked for the continuation during a hearing on Monday, April 11. His next court appearance is a status conference, which is set for Tuesday, May 24.

Jury selection for Clements’ murder trial in the death of Maribel Gonzales is slated to begin on July 28. It had been set for April 19. The trial in the death of Isabel Celis is set to begin with jury selections Thursday, Sept. 8. The trial had been scheduled to begin on May 24.
