((Hope4More was ( & still more is than isn't) felled by a bad cold that my little family seems to be passing around & around amongst ourselves)).

((Sorry for not replying to your question, Niner, but I see that dear Pocket did so, and much more. :)).

(And PS, I'll still be reading the Minutes, because that's what I do. It's no bother to summarize them here, but I won't if that doesn't work/isn't easier/complicates things for you).
----
A couple " meant to post this before" notes:

1. JM seems to have lost more evidence- related motions than he's won, a very different track record than in 's trial. Given we are trial -watching by inference, dunno if or how that's affecting his narrative or strength of case.

2. By pesky inference, it seems possible JM wasn't able to or decided against introducing into evidence what Grewal wrote in any of the 3 binders.

His case seems to have been: we know Grewal killed her, he left a confession in her bloody house before fleeing the US. Why flee the country afterwards if he had only accidentally blungeoned, strangled, and tried to drown her?

We know that Ms. Kaur had already told him she wanted a divorce. Her coworker & friend, Gina Wilkens will (and did? or too hearsay-y?) testify that Ms. Kaur had told her she'd done so by phone, that Grewal was flying to Phoenix to confront her about it, and that she was afraid of that confrontation.

Detective describes crime scene. Medical examiner covers cause of death & his conclusion there hadn't been a struggle. Alan Kreitl authenticates Grewal's handwritten confession left behind. Detective details Grewal's post-murder flight to India. Perhaps suggests an incriminating timeframe, like......

He didn't have enough time to try to hang himself-- until foiled by the chandelier crashing down from the ceiling, then to immediately transition to an equally unsuccessful plan B-- using a razor, all before his taxi arrived to take him to the airport?

(Wonder if any of Grewal's blood was found on the confession note? If not, why not? Because he wrote it beforehand, or because....he took time out of his suicidal despair to wash up before confessing to have killed the "b--tch")?

They're discussing final jury instructions?! Already? How in the world was this ever a DP case? Or was so much potentially damning evidence excluded? Though that still raises questions about why the DP was ever on the table.

What a peculiar trial.

What a peculiar trial.

Yes, definitely a peculiar trial.... and they said it would last 3 months - I believe we are only in 3rd week of trial.
Agree on this trial being peculiar. I hope JM doesn't get too bored with this trial. Because I am. Things will pick up next week with testimonies by psychologists though.

(I'm felled by the same cold your family had, probably, Hope. Fever, chill & coughing. And dealing with brain surgery (neighbor), malignant tumor, swollen brain, her non/semi-English speaking hungry family that I'm trying to feed as much as possible to keep them healthy. Grateful they know how to use Uber.

Niner, I saw you visited the Maleah Davis thread. If that case ever make it to trial, boy, watch out. It will be hot!)

pocketaccent - yes Maleah trial will be one to watch. Still waiting for BB to be arrested & Vence be charged with murder...

The Court is " inclined to direct the media" not to record an upcoming witness? LOL. Hasn't the Court noticed the empty courtroom & that nary a news article about the trial has been written since opening arguments? In order to be directed by the Court, the media will first have to show up. Clearly not one publication, channel, blogger or journalist has been so inclined.

Avtar Grewal, accused of killing his wife, takes the stand in murder trial (with clip)

Jun 27, 2019

"...Avtar Grewal chose to take the stand. His attorney questioned him on Thursday, where Grewal discussed a prior arranged marriage back in 2002 which did not work out, and the couple divorced around 2004.
"I was a little disheartened, to be honest," Grewal said in court.

Grewal says he connected with Kaur in 2005 through family. She lived in Phoenix while he lived in Canada.

"We became friends because we could relate to each other because we had gone through similar stuff in our past relationships," Grewal said.

He says their friendship escalated.

"Started talking to each other everyday, almost," he said.

The couple would later marry in India. When asked by his attorney, Grewal said he wouldn't classify his marriage to Kaur as an arranged marriage.

"We had an actual relationship," he said. "We had like, solid relationship, and then we got married."

Court ended for the day before any discussion of Kaur's death. Court resumes on July 8. While Thursday consisted of Grewal taking questions from his attorney, he still needs to face cross-examination by the prosecutor."
