At least the psych testimony seems to have been dispensed with quickly. That's a bit surprising, given his narrative about the day he killed his wife.

And his alleged paranoia, that he thinks he's being spied on & that someone is walking back and forth "outside his window"? He's in jail, fgs. Noticing he has guards doesn't even make him observant, much less paranoid.

Prosecutors focus on scribbled note in trial against man accused of killing wife in Ahwatukee

Anything interesting? Can someone give a 10% synopsis please? TIA! :)

A picture of the note was shown to jurors reading, in part, "I killed this selfish b****." Grewal did not deny scribbling the note but told prosecutors he did not mean what he wrote.

"You killed her, right?" asked prosecutor, Juan Martinez.

"But I didn't intentionally kill her," answered Grewal.

"And in [the note] you didn't say, 'I accidentally killed her.' You know that word, right? Accidentally?" asked Martinez.

"What do you think, I was in my right mind frame?" answered Grewal, who claimed his handwriting in the letter shows he was in distress.

"At what point did you write this? Where was the body when you wrote [the letter]?" asked Martinez.

"It was in, in the bathtub," Grewal responded.

Grewal was on the stand July 8 & 9. Defense motioned for a mistrial (no indication on what grounds) and was denied.

JM sounds just as fiesty as always. :)

Telling choice of words by Grewal. So, he'd just said he killed his wife accidentally, JM mocks him about whether or not he knows what "accidental" means, Grewal says he wasn't in his right mind, then JM begins pinning Grewal down further still with his relentless, merciless stream of questions:

JM: Where was "the body" when you wrote the note? Grewal: "IT was in the bathtub."

I'd bet that JM's choice of words was deliberate, but even if it wasn't, what a telling response. IT was in the bathtub. Not his dear wife Navneet who he had just accidentally killed.

Thanks a bunch JerseyGirl! Sure wish this was been live streamed - would LOVE to see Juan in action!! :)
Here's a short clip of JM in action.

Grewal to JM: "You can ask me ten thousand quesitons and I will answer you ten thousand answers but don't bully me,ok?" (lol, he feels bullied.)
-------------------------
JM: Yes or no, at the time that you were getting into that taxi, you hadn't called 911, right?

Nice try, Grewal. But it's pointless. JM won't let go until you give him what he wants, and protesting will only prolong the agony. So. Yes or No?

JM: how long were you in that room after you broke the door open?
G: she slapped me and ...
JM: I didn't ask, did I ask you she slapped you sir? (I love it!!! Reminiscent of JA trial)

Wow, closing argument to start 'tomorrow' at 10:30 in the morning. (Hmm... I'm confused, did it happen on Thursday or today, Friday?)

He broke a door down to accidentally kill her? And then took her phone with him to NJ (where he departed for India) because ....he was confused?

Pocket ..

Grewal was on the stand Monday 8 & Tuesday 9. Closing arguments were to start the day after the "used her phone" testimony. That testimony was given on Tuesday, so closing was supposedly to begin on Wednesday, according to a local news channel.

Given the lack of interest & coverage by local media, I bet the next "news" they bother to report is the jury's verdict.

This article gives a bit clearer timeline for us, the die hard JM fans. Closing arguments started Thursday July 11. So the jury probably already got the case on July 12. Maybe a verdict early next week then (I hope).

Witness testimony wraps up in 2007 Ahwatukee murder case

And for Niner, here's a 10% synopsis just for you!

Back in court Wednesday, the defense said the note is consistent with a lesser crime, not with premeditated murder.
“In the note, it says that ‘I killed the selfish b----' but it did not say that ‘I intended,’ or ‘knowingly did.’ He just did,” the defense said.

Closing arguments in the case start Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
----------------
(LOL at the defense's argument. G didn't premeditate since he didn't write 'intended' or 'knowingly killed'. LOL)

"He just did (kill her)" really is quite the curious defense, lol. Wonder if he also argued that Grewal can't be held accountable for how he phrased his murder confession because English isn't his first language....

Thanks everyone for posting those items.

But for some reason - I have Thursday, 7/11 as dark - to be continued on Monday, 7/15. I must have read an article about that. See my post #92.

Maybe closing arguments start on Monday? I do have 7/8 & 7/9 - which Grewal was on the stand.
