I would like to know where C Newton (foster/prospective adoptive) mom lives with her children and Syler and if that location has been searched (with Cadaver dogs)...maybe Syler was never at the camp...
That's why I was wondering if there had been any independent confirmation/sighting of him there at the campground ~ besides the family. Either he wasn't there or I'm afraid he's in the water. As many have said, he couldn't have wandered that far barefoot and wearing only a diaper. MOO

NG show: 13 campsites, rustic (no electricity hookups) creek nearby.

Anyone else watching NG? What was just said about out of state adoption? TIA

panthera, I remember LE saying in the first presser that the ponds are only like a foot deep but very murkey. He also said something to the effect that any rapid water is pretty nill there (my words, not his) but something to that effect.
I will see if I can find the video.....
Thanks! I was also going by what the adoptive mother's sister said, so assumed there was some chance he drowned.

"She said she fears that Syler is "somewhere along the water." The campgrounds sit on the banks of the Wet Beaver Creek.

"That's why I'm really, really scared, because he's always loved the water," she said."

Would a person with this kind of record be allowed to adopt a child legally?

Worse has happened through private adoptions. Of course the father would have to be located and consent as well. So far in all of this the biological father hasn't even been mentioned... strange!

(respectfully snipped)

Syler was seen at camp (from sheriff presser) by independent eye witness(es) who were unnamed in media that said they saw Sylar at campground as late as 9:30 PM the evening prior to his being reported missing. (noticed missing at 1:45 AM, 911 call came into center at 2:30 AM and LE on scene by 3 AM, all from links backthread).

HTH.
:)
Well, that answers the question if he was really there. Thanks! 45 minutes before calling 911 when a 2 y/o is no where to be found? :waitasec:

I've really been thinking about the creek ~ how deep is it, what is the current like, and so forth ~ and is it possible he fell or wandered into it and was swept away? Another question I've had ~ does anyone besides "family" remember seeing him there that night? :waitasec: MOO

In the immediate vicinity of the campground is a long swimming hole. It is the attraction of the place. The hole, when I was there was probably 50-70 yards long and averaged no more than 4' deep. There are scattered, smaller holes up & down the creek but you have to work to get to them. For the most part, the rest of the creek would be less than knee deep... if that. I just don't see it as a possibility that he wouldn't have been found if he had drowned (drown?).

Here is someone's pics on flickr that will give an idea of the creek and the swimming hole.

Hi momtective.

Adoptive mom's name is C. Priem. (Christina AKA Tina)

We haven't determined who C. Newton is, they were named as a "friend" on the adoptive mom's myspace. (we might need to go back and take her name off thread).

Yes that 45 minutes gave me pause too. There was some kind of discussion at the end of the presser posted by Darlin_gal (video, IIRC it might be post #70). Anyway, at the very end of the presser a female reporter is asking questions about the 911 call. It's hard to make out what they are saying but ---there was some discussion about cell service not being available in that area and that was the possible cause of delay? Sheriff said they are checking that out. All from memory Panthera so double check behind me for sure! :D

Me too...from the very first video of her whaling "My baby's gone! Find my baby!" :banghead: Sorry, it just wasn't very convincing to me. :waitasec:

I agree. She reminded me of Susan Smith.

Thanks so much! Now I'm at a loss what could've happened unless someone took him out of the campground. :waitasec:

Not the least bit convincing to me either. The whole time she's literally running away from the media and camera as well! I would be up front and center if my child went missing... not walking away telling someone else to "find my baby". Hinky meter went way up on that! The sister on the other hand looked straight into the camera but I felt she tried a little too hard to muster tears while talking. The first thought I had after watching the video was almost a Misty Croslin repeat!

Thank you larsinaz. Warning a kind of graphic comment below...

Even if Sylar did drown in a pool of water (or pond) and he wasn't found initially by searching the pond. It shouldn't be too long for him to surface (given how shallow the pool is described as being and even if it were a lake for that matter).

I am only speaking for knowledge gained from living in centex for nine years where many swimmers and boaters would drown in area lakes. The temps were similar and humidity too (to current in AZ).

FWIW, IMHO if he has drowned, we are well over 30 hours into the search...he should be able to be seen within the next 12-18 hours at most.

All just my humble opinion.

I'm just not seeing anything good coming out of this case. How could anyone "steal" him from a tent if other people were in there, if it is "custodial"? How large of a tent? How would anyone know which one he was in?

And a child that young walking off and not being found by now makes even less sense. An older child, maybe, but still a big maybe, and without shoes? No way.

Whaton earth is going on here? :(

Two search and rescue volunteers (above) leave the roadblock about 1/4 to 1/2 mile from the Beaver Creek Campground as Yavapai County Sheriff's Deputies as well as Search and Rescue volunteers and others search for 2-year-old Syler Newton near the Beaver Creek Campground in the Coconino National Forest near Sedona. The effort also took to the air (below) as a DPS Ranger helicopter aided in the search.

Syler Newton’s campsite and last known location. Tents are to the left the large tree.

Police located the biological mom in a state in the eastern US.

There is still major doubt in the 'adoptive' mom's story. Police don't know even if she is legally trying to adopt the child.

Lots of holes.

Now the adoptive mom is claiming she had a 'bad feeling' about a Mexican man that was in the campground across from them. He had been watching them all day.

She said she think the baby was kidnapped.

This news station had the exclusive interview with the adoptive mom. I'm not sure if they have it online but it's worth seeing if so.

It's totally confusing to me also. He supposedly was in a tent with the two other, older children. The only way I can see him getting out of the tent is if it was open, but then again, how far could a 2 y/o wander barefoot in a campground? Wouldn't he feel lost in the dark and start crying? The only part that seems believable to me at this point is the adoptive mother waking up so soon after the last "bed check" since I can't imagine being able to sleep soundly out there. MOO

I wonder if the same people who saw Syler playing around the camp, also saw the Hispanic man that Adoptive mom had a bad feeling about.
I'm going to have to have more than just adoptive mom's word on anything. I would really like to hear from her other kids...I think we can all agree that we can see right through a kid who's lying. LE wouldn't even need to give Gma & adpt mom a LDT if they would just let us see an interview with the kids...
