That's the whole point Otto. Nothing he has said makes sense about that evening. And another thing that doesn't make sense to me is why this couple from BC was booked into a cheapy two day cruise on a converted ferry from Palm Beach to Freeport. The flight alone to get to Palm Beach would have been 10-14 hours of travel time. Seems like a waste for 2 days on a converted ferry with not so great reviews. I'd like to know when this cruise was booked. Because if someone were going to plan to do something to someone on a cruise ship, this would be a perfect choice. It's not like he had to spend a whole week pretending to get along and a whole lot of money on this "adventure".

I asked helenbee earlier if they had incorporated this cruise into a longer Florida vacation in which case perhaps that would make sense. I don't think she's had a chance to find out about that. But we do know that the boyfriend hightailed it right back to Canada as soon as the FBI was done questioning him.

Sounds like airfare to get to cruise cost more than the cruise.
Typically in cases of where a girlfriend/wife of a control freak boyfriend/husband goes missing there's a fight that happens in the hours or days before the gal goes missing. Usually the fight is overheard by someone.
This might be a case in which there was no fight, instead it's something that's been planned out.
Got to imagine it will take allot of gumshoe work to find and contact everyone on the cruise in an effort to reconstruct when/where both he and she were seen.

I think I have the answer to why they were booked onto the cruise. There are phone calls that people get claiming "you have just won a free cruise in Florida". All you have to do is pay blah blah blah, fly to and from Florida, and it's free. Perhaps they fell for this "prize".

Yes but how many people actually go for those time share generated phone calls? And with our national "do not call list", how many calls like this would actually even get placed to Canada? Especially to people who live so very far away. The cost of the airfare to get to the "free cruise" would be triple the value of the "prize". The travel time is ridiculous. A couple from BC can take an all inclusive trip to a Carribean resort for a week for less than just the airfare involved in this "deal".

And I highly doubt...very highly in fact, that a company in Palm Beach or Freeport would be soliciting people in British Columbia, Canada for a two day "free" cruise. Unless they were regular travellers and one of their names were on some kind of a call list. Again...I think it was mentioned that this was at least Fariba's first cruise so I can't see her name being on a list like that. I don't know what the boyfriend's travelling habits may have been like.

I think there is a possibility that the boyfriend did have something to hide. And he may have been alerted to the fact that Fariba had visited with a private investigator. Now he may have also known that perhaps she had opted not to hire him but he may have been very angry and the trust was lost. Or perhaps he thought she may have found out about something he was hiding. Either way, anything is possible as to a motive for planning to "disappear" someone IMO.

But I doubt that is the case here as there are sharks in the ocean.

Thats one thing that we have not figured out yet a motive..

It is true that those "cruise" companies in Florido solicit people in Canada. The prize is a free cruise, and then there are the added costs of airfare and other expenses that still give the company a profit.

Yes otto, I realize that these companies do solicit in Canada but I can't see it being all that popular in provinces such as BC that are so far away. The cheapest flight you could probably get would be about $800 per person and that's likely with one or more stopovers. It just doesn't make sense for a two day cruise IMO. I can see them soliciting heavy in Central or Eastern provinces because the flight time is only 3-5 hours and the airfares are considerably cheaper.

Would really love to know how they came to be on that cruise. Who booked it, why and whether it was part of a longer vacation. Or DID someone receive a phone call and after researching the "ship" it seemed like a good way to "disappear" someone? Did they really fly 10-14 hours to get on a ship that sailed at 5:30pm one day and returned at 7:00am on the third day? And then they planned to fly another 10-14 hours to get back home? All in a 4-5 day period? And they paid at least $1600 for the pleasure?

Do we know if the RCMP are following up on any investigation of the boyfriend? I know he claims he was "cleared" by the FBI but all that happened there was they questioned him and because they obviously were not going to lay a charge they let him return home. That is not clearing someone it's questioning and releasing them because they have no grounds to hold them. We have a pretty heathy extradition relationship with the US so there is no reason for them to try to keep him there while they are investigating.

I wonder if there have been any requests from the RCMP for a voluntary search of his home and maybe his computer(s). If not, there certainly should be IMO.

Well this story seems to clear up my question about the photos that were widely distributed at the beginning of this case. While I still don't know where the press got those photos, they don't appear to be part of the boyfriend's "private stash" of photos from the actual cruise in question.

And it doesn't appear as though he's turning over those photos voluntarily to anyone, anytime soon? Why not? Doesn't he want them to find her?

At least three news sources (ABC, HLN, and WPTV 5 West Palm Beach) broadcast these photo collages or slideshows (or however you`d prefer to identify this way of promulgating the news) that suggested (to me at least - maybe I`m more gullible than others) they were taken from Fariba`s cruise vacation. It`s my understanding that Ramiz Golshani has some actual photos of he and Fariba during the week long vacation, but those are his own private property.

BBM - that is a most interesting question! Did she have a blackeye, bruises, was she naked??? If the photos were something "adult" I would simply say so, no big deal. Otherwise, I'm at a lost to understand...

Didn't Fariba herself have a camera on this trip? Would that be in the possession of the FBI along with her personal items? Hopefully she did. And hopefully she was happily snapping pictures of the events on the night in question before she disappeared.

IMO, the lady would be the one who is being snapped hopefully, and that would give us some idea of what she looked like, which in turn may jogg the memories of other passengers aboard the ship..Do we know if all of her posessions have been returned to the family??..

There is absolutely no news on this case. I am waiting to hear some more evidence that she was on board besides the swiped cards, but nothing has been reported. No camera images, no last pictures taken, not a word from any witnesses, nothing about a last phone call or text messages from the ship. All we have is a 'convenient' story of the boyfriend that they attended a comedy show where I am sure they wouldn't be noticed in the public. Then IMO he tries to put some weight to his story and says he takes off to the casino. The place where there certainly would be cameras. So I am still wondering, was she really on board or did something happen in the Bahamas?

Yes we asked them to reprint the story as they had their facts wrong. Those photos are from Fariba in the past, not on this cruise. I am sure that they have confused a few people.
