Seven7 news now- process under way for transfer of Andrew Chan & Myuran Sukumaran to Island prison for execution. 'Extrodinary measures' and show of force by Indonesian army.

They are showing riot police dressed all in black flanking Kerobokan Prison on Ch7 TV morning news. They also have a water canon at the ready. And an armoured vehicle is positioning itself. It is still dark there. The sun has not yet risen. They are preparing for any trouble during the move of Andrew and Myuran. Journalists are everywhere.

Armoured vehicle has now entered the prison. It appears the move may be imminent. It is 5am in Bali.

The mood is very dark among our TV presenters. The news presenter with watery eyes. Me too ....

Lawyers are appalled, Julie Bishop upset, Tony Abbott still hoping for 11th hour reprieve. Ohhhhh.

Channel7 news now- family will be able to visit via ferry to island up to 4 hours before the execution.

Well after armoured vehicle left, Michael Chan was seen speaking with guards and police shaking his head and wiping his face.

Transfer to ‘execution island’ signals end close for Bali pair

9.58am: THE plane carrying the men is preparing to take off for Cilacap now, reports Deborah Cassrels. Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport is where Chan was arrested as he sat on a plane waiting to take off 10 years ago on April 17, the day of Sukumaran’s 24th birthday. Sukumaran was arrested at Melasti Hotel, Kuta.

It will be a changed place inside the walls of the prison today. No art classes. No minister to assist the drug-addicted, troubled, and suicidal people. The presence of two stalwart people gone.

Andrew and Myuran are now on Nusakambangan Island.

Their families are on their way back to Indonesia.

"I think right now millions of Australians are feeling sick in their guts at the prospect of execution for these two," he (Abbott) said.

The development comes amid signs of a breakdown in communication between the Indonesian and Australian governments, with Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop admitting on Wednesday there had been no official confirmation from Indonesian officials that a transfer was going to take place.

Attorney-General H.M Prasetyo has said he will set a date for the execution once all 10 drug felons are on the island.

He has said the executions will occur as soon as possible to prevent other prisoners from being unsettled.

Bali nine duo 'stoic' during heart-wrenching last moments in Kerobokan

It was a moment, no doubt, that both men had been contemplating since they were first handed the death penalty some nine years ealier. According to Komang Tri, from Bali's justice office, Chan seemed more settled than Sukumaran.


"Andrew was doing fine. Myuran looked a bit pale. He looked like he was in a bit of daze," he said.


Sukumaran has been anxious for weeks, having difficulty sleeping at night, every bang and shout in the prison waking him with dread. Chan's strong Christian faith - he was ordained as a minister in February - gives him certainty about his destiny in the afterlife.

What is it with military jets, charter flights, legs shackled, escorted by 15 armed guards…..oh pleazzzee. What hypocrisy the Bali Bomber who murdered 160 people is probably sitting on the beach watching the sun go down. A few weeks ago Chan and co were probably bribing the guards and getting up to all sort of mischief (refer Hotel K …great, Snowing in Bali .. great reads). Upon saying that what they did was wrong, but the DP, nup. I really do feel for these kids and their families. Not that it will make any difference all my husband and I will never, ever travel to Bali again.

A good point was briefly made during the show tonight. Andrew and Myuran do not deserve to be executed. Nor do they deserve to be martyrs (not that they have asked in any way to be considered so). But that is how it is turning out, due to the determination of the Indonesian govt to murder them, and not let them continue to spend their lives in jail repenting for their crimes - imo.

Like emirates, there are many more of us Aussies who will now never travel to Bali. Ever.

Okay, so there was a brief newsbreak just on Ch 9. The Indonesian President has asked their Attorney General to take Australia's concerns over the execution seriously. Not sure what that means .... hopefully it means something positive for Andrew and Myuran. lease:

Indonesia foresees diplomatic strain as Bali Nine pair arrive on execution island

Australia has already postponed trade missions over the impending punishments and was considering scrapping other meetings.

Indonesia’s ambassador to Australia, Nadjib Riphat Kesoema, said he expected the executions would strain diplomatic relations between the two countries, but added, “our relations [are] far beyond the interests of the two people”.

The Indonesian president, Joko Widodo, reportedly told a cabinet meeting to take the Australian government’s concerns seriously and monitor its reaction.

“We realise it creates a kind of tension between Indonesia and Australia,” the cabinet secretary, Andi Widjajanto, told AAP. “We had the same tension before with the Netherlands’ government ... And so we take the concerns from our friendly neighbours seriously.”

Do you think there could be a last minute reprieve? The armed guard up thread looked quite concerned for Sukumaran. Infact I would go as far as saying…it really does look quite staged. I'm surprised there has not been more information leaked regarding Kerobokan. Excuse my ignorance …….what trade agreement do we have with Indonesia. Sorry too many questions.
