This may be an unpopular opinion but this is sad. I've sleuthed a lot on TS and while I abhor what he did and why he did it, I just don't put him in the same category as HM.

Of the two, I figured he was the one who could be rehabilitated. I don't know what will happen to him now. And I do put a lot of the blame for what happened to him squarely on HM's shoulders. Psychopathic manipulators are very convincing. And never really pay the price for their actions while their victims do.

MOO

It maybe the reason Kia Walker tried to intervene in some way to get Stella, if her son had no say in the matter regarding his daughters placement.
When the papers were being signed, at the hand over of Stella, the cameras may have only focused on HM and not TS, but I find that unusual in itself - he was not in the room.

The hand over and the paper signing is on a video (link beneath) - titled: Heather Mack spends time with her baby before she is taken away.
TS is not there - HM, OS & legals are all there at the hand over.

I also noticed that HM saw the cameras on her long before she decided to react to seeing 'a camera man' when she arrived at the building.
She did the usual and covered Stella over with a shawl (again)
Her reaction - her expression - Nothing has changed at all.

Pothead tied to socialite murder just can’t stop smoking weed

http://chicago.suntimes.com/news/pothead-tied-to-socialite-murder-just-cant-stop-smoking-weed/

A man who is awaiting sentencing for taking part in the 2014 Bali murder of a Chicago-area socialite has been ordered to turn himself in on Monday —
after a judge lost patience with his alleged drug use.

“It sounds like an addiction,” U.S. District Court Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer told Robert Bibbs, saying of her patience: “I’m afraid I’ve run out.”
-----
On Friday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Bolling Haxall asked Pallmeyer to lock up Bibbs, noting, “He apparently has not had a negative (drug) test since last July.”
-----
“I have not even been close to marijuana,” Bibbs said, telling the judge it can take several weeks for all traces of the drug to exit the body. “I have legit quit.”
Pallmeyer was unmoved.

:liar:

And there is the other bad influence who needs to dry up in prison and really think about what he encouraged his cousin to do, without putting a stop to it, and is doing with his own life. He needs to straighten up and take life a lot more seriously. At least he may have a chance at rehabilitation. I hope he decides to take it.

Kamille, I feel exactly the same way. TS deserves his punishment, no doubt. And he proved what he was capable of. But I do not believe he would have murdered anyone if he had not been coerced be HM. She was the one that had spent much time at the Cook County juvenile detention, she was the one who had the cops come to her house 86 times, she is the one who tried to overdose Sheila before TS ever arrived in Bali. As far as we can tell, TS didn't have a record until he met HM. He was going to school at Northwestern until he dropped out. He was week and was manipulated by HM. He has to own that, but I don't think he has been treated fairly when compared to HM. Why did he have no say in his daughter's placement? He is her parent too. They should have both had the same sentences.

"Mack, who stands to inherit US$1.63 million from her late mother...." * Where did this <-- $ figure come from?

After her death in 2014, IIRC, SvWM's trust value was given as ~1.5 mil US$.
Later, after IL judge okayed lrg disbursement (~200,000+ US $???) from trust to pay HM's atty in Bali; judge denied some other disbursemt requests.
Also IIRC, drops in market value of trust's investments caused trust's value to drop further.
I may be misremembering some or all the above. And maybe mkt has restored some value lately.

Anyone have better/more accurate memory/notes on --
--- disbursements besides ^ big one, and reason for them?
---changes in value and esp current value (is it 1.63 mi US$)? TiA.

The way they describe Stella sounds a bit like the way HM was described as a young child. Sure hope OS is able to "tame" her a little. I have a feeling she's going to be a handful. She's been raised in almost a "feral" environment so far.

MOO
I thought the same thing!!! This makes it sound like she has not been taught manners or boundries. Granted, she is 2, but, look at mom!

In other news, the Australian woman, Sara Connor, was convicted and sentenced to 4 years in Kerobokan for the death of a Bali police officer on Kuta Beach. Her British boyfriend, David Taylor, was sentenced to 6 years.

So there are lots of news articles about the horrid conditions at Kerobokan circulating right now. Apparently they haven't been following HM's and the other female inmates who are on social media's party. It's obvious that things are not nearly as bad as the media would lead us to believe. Although I do agree it's probably a lot worse on the men's side since there are only about 140 women and over a thousand men. But all accounts suggest money talks. You just don't need a lot of USD over there.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...pend-four-years-inside-Corby-Bali-prison.html

This article indicates that she is in the same cell as HM.

I will never get over the light sentences in Indonesia for MURDER while drug dealers get death. They should be ashamed.

Thanks for typing the pertinent info. When ever I click on the link, google it, or got to the Sun Times Facebook page and click on the link, I get the malicious website warning. Anyway, good riddance to this one. I've read his FB for quite a while. He thinks he is pretty special, but I can't see where he has done anything meaningful with his life so far.

His mother would have to live in Indonesia to have a
chance at custody of the baby.

There is so much gross injustice in this case. HM I feel truly got away with murder and has been given everything in exchange, more than many have-
1. For the brutal, planned murder of her mother, she got ten years and will likely be out much sooner.
2. Her life in prison is fabulous- food brought in, social media, cell phones, partying. With no consequences.
3. She has a child. An adorable kid many people would love to have. And she got to raise that baby in prison for two years and now gets to pick who she lives with, can dictate that she remain in Indonesia and gets regular contact for the rest of her sentence.
4. She apparently stands to inherit a bunch of money from her mother's estate. The law seemed to me to be clear that a murderer cannot inherit but from what I can tell, there has been no such determination and she's been able to take tons of funds from the estate thus far, right? And even if she ultimately isn't given all that money, she will have Stella, who is the next in line. So she will likely benefit through her daughter. *Caveat, I have not been following the probate case much here in the states so correct me where I'm wrong.

It feels like she has had nothing but rewards. Zero real consequences. It's horrible. Similar, in my mind, to casey anthony. Being jailed under those conditions is not really being jailed.

This case is a travesty. It disgusts me. Watching that monster in those videos on the last day with her kid- she hasn't changed a bit.
She's still out of control, crazy, same face I've seen on many out of control kids and teens - eyes wide open, mouth wide open, complaining and yelling about something, all the time.

I also think she's pretty rough in her handling of the baby and if it wasn't for those other women, the baby likely would've been killed by her. Due to her rage and impatience. But she clearly had tons of help with child rearing.

She's a monster and looking at her pretending to be upset suddenly with the cameras and grabbing at her kid- she just gets away with everything. Now she has some fame seeking sycophant willing to do her bidding just for the chance of being involved in the case.

Cases like this where real justice is nowhere to be found, eat at me.

Does this mean there's a chance HM will be charged in the US with conspiracy? Or will she get away with that too.

Strange. Other articles said the birth had been registered with the US Consulate and that Stella had a passport.

Two different things. Stella's overseas birth has to be registered at the nearest US Consulate. That isn't the same thing as actually issuing her a passport (although there will be no problem doing so).

OT odd example involving this registry process. An older man, US citizen, served in the US military, lived near the border in Washington state. He decided to visit Canada after the rules changed and US citizens needed a passport. It turned out that he had been born just over the border in Canada and his parents, US citizens, had never registered him. Idiot bureaucrats tried to tell him that because of his parents' failure to do so, he was not technically a US citizen (nor a Canadian citizen). Fortunately, the story made the media and the right people stepped up to help him get it sorted out.

An earlier poster mentioned that Oshar and her attorney were headed to the immigration office with Stella after the handover. I suspect that visit is to formalize some kind of visa arrangement for Stella.

Some thoughts.

I think Kamille mentioned that Stella had been 'raised' almost as a feral creature. I think that's a very accurate description. I think that HM and the other women treat Stella like a wayward kitten that runs around, upsets things sometimes, sometimes is too cute for words. Hopefully she'll get more structure in her new life, and I think it's good that there are two other older kids in the household - not too old to completely ignore her, not so young as to get ideas about acceptable behavior from her. I kind of shudder to think what kind of language Stella would have been picking up (and using) if she'd been around her mother much longer.

I wonder how often HM will see her. IIRC, Oshar lives about an hour from the prison. I've read 'a couple times a week', 'weekly', and 'once a month'. I wonder if TS will start seeing Stella during these visits.

I think TS may be in for a very bad time. He managed at some point to get on drugs, because he was taking methadone for a while (no idea who was paying for the drugs or the methadone). I thought he was getting involved in prison church activities after that, but apparently not, or he wouldn't have ended up in solitary - which also probably means no sentence reduction this year. If he attacked another prisoner, he may be in for a bad time, depending on who he attacked. It better not have been an Indonesian with friends. I think he was barely holding on, thinking relief would come when KW got custody of Stella. I think he also wants to see Stella and $$ safely in KW's hands so there's no way $$ can be funneled to HM - the $$ would go to him instead.

HM has done interviews with People magazine and has collaborated on at least one tv show about her mother's death. Someone in the media in Chicago is always ready and willing to air her video clips/statements. I don't know if she gets paid for most of this. It has surprised me that TS hasn't done the same thing prior to this - if only to get his side of the story out there. Instead, he has put out a couple FB statements. If he's working on a TV-movie, it might not mean much money in his pocket.

One of my concerns about KW wanting custody of Stella is the money motivation. It seems pretty clear that there is no way KW could afford to take Stella without her trust - KW doesn't have any money. She's in regular contact with TS - yet when TS was claiming Stella was sick and needed antibiotics, KW didn't wire him the money (and antibiotics are CHEAP in Indonesia). KW didn't go to Favia, the US attorney representing Stella's 'interests' for help. When she told Judge Cohen that she had evidence that HM was trying to sell Stella to get money for an appeal and Cohen told her that she needed to get an attorney and follow-up, she said instead she'd wait for a book deal. ??? Seriously? You think your grandkid is literally going to be sold, but you don't talk to the grandchild's attorney or the GAL? You'll shop a book deal instead?

TS is like his cousin, RB. Two shiftless guys who had more opportunities than many, but who want it all, without putting in hard work. His cousin lives off his mother and TS lived off his girlfriend. I'm not optimistic that time behind bars is going to change either one for the better.

It's not impossible. IIRC, some of the Bali Nine, including Chan and Sukumaran, took a while to turn their lives around in prison.

One other 'wild card' that could affect things: HM or TS (or both) could get moved from Kerobokan. If that happens, I'm not aware of any alternative prisons nearby that would be easy for visits. Scott Rush was removed to a remote prison so he could get drug treatment. It seems to me another Bali Nine prisoner got moved out because he got into meth. Noor Ellis (murdered her husband) and Renae Lawrence (Bali Nine) have also been moved to other prisons.

.... week and was manipulated by HM. He has to own that, but I don't think he has been treated fairly when compared to HM. Why did he have no say in his daughter's placement? He is her parent too....
sbm^ & bbm^.
1.)
I've read/watched some, not all, MSM on this and same idea occurred to me. No father input?
Thought about it more. Is it poss father gave his opinion & signed doc's to authorize dau's placement w OS & fam? Maybe he did this before MSM vid recorded HM & others w doc's & doing the 'drill'? Vid of him may have ended up on the proverbial cutting room floor or maybe vanished w a tap on delete button. Maybe Bali's legal system does not seek or recognize father's wishes on issue in these circumstances? IDK.

2.)
Any MSM reports on DNA tests identifying TS as bio-father of Stella?

3.)
What if any reports re Child Protectn Agency or Bali's equivalent, or a Bali court being involved in this? And process of selecting this particular OS & fam? I've not seen anything about 'termination of [HM's] parental rights' re Stella. Some posts here say, she will be returned to HM on HM's release. Presumably that return clause is incorporated in the signed doc's. But if CPA or court is not involved, the doc's are essentially a private agreement between the parties (or would be in the US).

What if the placee fam/receiving fam fails to comply w their obligations (I'm azz-uming) under the contract. E.g.:
- does not answer HM's calls? Won't let Stella talk w HM?
- does not facilitate regular visits of Stella w HM in prison? Alllows no visits?
- moves from that area of Bali to 500 miles away? Or another country?
- refuses, on HM's release from prison, to allow Stella to be reunited w HM?
If HM & placee fam executed doc's as private contract, what legal remedies does HM have re ^ events which would constitute breaches of contract?

Personally I'd anticipate HM breaching contract waaaay before others. Next year, could HM break out of prison, go to placee fam home, & demand Stella back? Seems outlandish but then again, no more preposterous imo as circumstances of her Mother's death.

If Bali ChPrAgency or court had been involved in procedure & reviewing the draft & final agreements, that involvement would not leave much room for potential claims (by HM) of over-reaching, coercion, etc.

I'm curious if Stella's placement w the fam is/was subject to CPA or court oversight or if it was done by private contract. Surely these placement/custody/adoption issues arise w other inmates, either pregnant or w an infant (or both, yikes!). Just guessing that many other inmates have family & friend custodial alternatives geographically closer than HM.

No more rambling for now. JM2cts.

Tommy has no say in Stella's life in Indonesia because, if you are unmarried, the child is completely under the care and control of the mother. The father has no say at all.

This could explain some of Tommy's 'disinterest' in Stella. The prison would not have been under any obligation or feel any need to have Tommy regularly meet with Stella and bond with her. And Heather is such a nasty piece of work that she probably made no effort to have Stella see Tommy either.

In reality, Tommy was lucky that the prison arranged a meeting for him to see Stella in the office before she left the prison.

If your child was conceived outside of marriage, or if the marriage was not legally registered, the child shall hold an out of wedlock status. Children who are born outside marriage have only a civil relationship with their mother and their mother’s family. Therefore, the mother has full custody rights for the child.

I don't really think there needs to be a DNA test: HM gave birth to KW! Stells is the spitting image of her grandmother. MOO

If you see my post #2075 ... Tommy has no say or input into Stella, in Indonesia, because under their law, if you are not married to the mother, a father has no rights at all.

I hope Stella flourishes in her new home. It's wonderful that she'll spend most of her time away from that prison and her mother.

IMO Heather will fall pregnant again in prison

That would re-create proven reasons for attention and special treatment for Heather.

And it would create another heir to Sheila's trust, thus doubling Heather's chances of eventually benefiting from the trust through maternal manipulation.

Yikes!
