My brain seems to operate on energy-saving and/or impatience-mode I don't pay attention to details. Bad habit of mine :(

Perfect (and perfectly funny) description of me, too. I disappeared from my family and friends for about 2 years total while immersed in the Charli Scott murder case. I was obsessed. I never want to go "there" again, so I now skim a few selected cases. With me it's all or nuttin, I've learned. Thanks for the laugh.

Thanks. It would be the first time that anyone suggested that there is something questionable about the Toronto news outlet.
The Canadian papers haven't sent down a journalist to independently investigate, they're just repeating news from other sources, and those sources may not be as reliable as they assume. I believe the Atlanta Journal Constitution has sent a reporter, who has come up with much of these recent details by actually interviewing people.

I think there's strong reasons to look at this neighbour as a suspect, but I would never assume he did it, or rule out other possible scenarios. But it wouldn't be the first time a landlord has been killed for trying to evict a tenant.

It does seem odd the car registration was allegedly removed and not the license plate. Also removing the battery is a lousy way to prevent a car from being stolen, anyone could replace the battery and drive off. So I think it's quite possible either the perp(s), or, more probably to me, someone else who found the car, stole the battery because it could be easily sold. There might be a black market for car registrations, sold for a few dollars for use by organized crime.

With some personalities, in some circumstances, demanding back rent or threatening to evict someone can be extremely dangerous, it can inspire intense hatred and rage, as bad or worse than sexual jealousy, becausee home is one's territory, and defending that terrirory can be life or death.

Here's just a few cases, but I've come across many more. Landlord's need to be aware of the danger of provoking a tenant.

Just a simplistic review.

Obviously, murderers are all different and no crime is exactly the same, but...

If these murders were committed by gang members, poverty-stricken thieves, or even thrill killers...

Would strangulation be the most likely COD??

Would they take the vehicle battery & registration??

Would they take cell phones but ignore personal items of value (wallets, jewelry)?

"No" seems the likely answer to all of these. (None of the facts seems to mesh with the other when considering each of the possible killers)

So, what are we left with??

Wondering if FM and DD ran into this guy who is believed to be hiding in Belize, maybe as an ex Marine he was recognized by Drew, also he is known to work in construction.?
Speculation, imo.rbbm.

Krystal Mitchell, just 30, looked more like a movie star than a divorced mom raising two young children on her own. To know her was to love her. She was smart and successful in real estate, working as a property manager in Phoenix, Arizona while preparing to become a licensed broker.

Ex-Marine Raymond McLeod is believed to be armed and dangerous. If you have any information on his whereabouts, contact the San Diego Police Department.

The other thing is, her address would be on the registration would it not?
But they never robbed her house

I keep going back to the bad guys arrested last Thursday for kidnapping and robbery.
One of them has been arrested several times before. He has a long history of stealing boats and cars, and was also implicated in rape and murder of a police officer in Consejo. He is described as a labourer from Ranchito.
There is a lot more about the recent kidnapping on Channel 7 Belize, including statements from the victims, but I'm not sure how to post multiple links. I'm so computer illiterate.
But, they were convinced they were being taken somewhere to be killed.
This is a story from 2005 regarding the murder of a policeman and the sexual assault and robbery of his female companion. This seems to be a very bad man operating for a long time within Corozal who appears to have a larger network of friends helping him commit robbery, kidnapping and murder. I really think it is worth exploring. I've only found one comment on SM that suggested looking at these guys for the murders the week before.

Geez. These overnight developments leave me wondering Wth is going on.

I don't know why - argument or not - I can't get my head around that guy being involved with their murders.

Where was his girlfriend that night? Seems like she would have knowledge of the cane fields being burned.

Blah

IMO the pieces are starting to fit together. JD, a Canadian in a foreign country, running out of cash, turns to thievery (casino), and is threatened with eviction. Have you seen his girlfriend? Certainly makes you wonder why she was with him? Only time I see hot young women with old guys, its for their money. So this guy seemed to be jobless, penniless, on the brink of being homeless, and to cap it off, in jeopardy of losing his trophy GF.

Also, I can't think why a gang or local robbers would go to such effort to separately hide the bodies and the car. That's a lot of physical labour, trouble, planning, plus a big extra risk of being seen or caught, why bother?

The other two cases of remains found on that stretch of highway weren't very hidden, just removed a short distance from the road, and they were found quite soon. Darwin Salazar, ex con, found right beside the road. In the other case, the remains were put a pond and surfaced a day or two later, found by someone driving along the road

http://www.ctv3belizenews.com/index.../news/decomposed-corpse-woman-corozal-lagoon/

Since there's no apparent evidence on the bodies that ties them to the perp(s), the only reason I can think of is perp(s) really, really, didn't want bodies to ever be found, to keep the disappearance a mystery. The car would be found even if burned, but for some reason they didn't want the victims found along with it.

I can't get a feel for the casino theft.
It sounds strange.

Was he, in fact, doing a job for one of the partners as he states ?
Did he AND the partner rob the place?

If he was doing a legitimate job, wouldn't the person he was working for be able to clarify the issue?
And why did he have the stolen things in his home?
Something is off

However, this happened 12+ years ago and the motive was attributed to robbery of jewelry and money, plus sexual assault of the woman......none of which seems to have happened in this case. Whole lotta crime in Belize, though.

Has it been confirmed by an official autopsy (not the field determination) that F and D were in fact strangled? I don't know what to think about that manner of death, other than it seems either personal or unplanned, or both.

A postmortem examination was conducted on the 2nd of May 2017, at the Northern Regional Hospital, which certified their deaths as due to strangulation.

Speculation:

The bodies were dumped first, hidden so they could buy time to either rob the house, sell the car or both. They initially kept the car. Then, when the heat was on, they got rid of the car. If it were me, I wouldn't take it to where the bodies were.

I don't know - I don't have a background in investigations. I'm new to this and operating entirely on gut instinct.

Can't help but wonder if the casino theft allegations are associated with the murders of FM and DD. It's possible one has nothing to do with the other except, of course, the Deshaies connection.

I keep nosing around trying to find more info but... I got nuthin'

Deshaies’ Attorney Speaks

As for Deshaies, he is charged with theft and is on remand because he is a flight risk. He has indicated that he wants his attorney Steven Perrera to apply for bail as soon as possible.
Steve Perrera, Attorney for John Deshais
"The situation with Mr. Deshais is that we have yet to meet to go over the details of this matter. However, what we do know at this point in time was that Mr. Deshais had only been assisting his employers who were the then managers of the casino in respect to the items and eventually there was some kind of dispute between the parties and this charge was raised against him."

Reporter
"Presumably you have to still be with your client, but can we presume that he intends to seek bail in relation to this charge?"

Steve Perrera, Attorney for John Deshais
"Yes, we would be seeking bail for Mr. John Deshais shortly."

Daniel Ortiz, 7News
"What is the name of the casino exactly that this matter falls from?"

Steve Perrera, Attorney for John Deshais
"I don't have the particulars with me right now, so I wouldn't be able to say."

Reporter
"We do know that your client is also a person of interest in the double murder in Corozal. I presume you will be speaking with him with regard to whatever questioning police out there are doing."

Steve Perrera, Attorney for John Deshais
"I will be discussing that with Mr. Deshais in the future."

Daniel Ortiz, 7News
"Has he retained you a attorney for that particular matter for which he is being investigated, at least as one of the suspects police have or have intentions to speak with?"

Steve Perrera, Attorney for John Deshais
"Not as yet, no."

Perera will try to get a bail hearing for him on Friday.
The Attorney doesn't know the name of the casino?

I read the articles, I guess you're referring to Elio Lopez. Certainly seems he's a hardened criminal who recruits younger guys to help him with his plots.

But this kidnapping raises so many red flags when I look at the details: Two cane farmers aged 23 and 31, and a 26 year old 'land consultant', driving a $15,000 Nissan Infiniti, arrive to inspect/buy a Nissan X-terra with $13,000 cash. One was wearing a ring and gold chain worth $3,000 and had a $600 Gucci wallet. One guy carried a razor blade in his wallet and was comfortable using a gun, he said if it had fired correctly he'd have killed one of his assailants.

So how exactly do young cane farmers get so much cash to spend on luxury cars and accessories? Probably everyone knew how much spare money they had, they'd stand out as easy pickings in a scheme to rob them.

http://www.ctv3belizenews.com/index...-managed-to-escape-&catid=40:crime&Itemid=100

In comparison, I just don't think a pair of local expats driving a 20 year old jeep home from a bar would appear to be worth the trouble of robbing.

Could have gone like that, especially as tge missing posters identified the car.
