Investigators: Person of interest identified in Dylan Redwine case

LA PLATA COUNTY, Colo. — Investigators said Wednesday they have identified a person of interest in the murder investigation of Dylan Redwine.

At this point, investigators have not named the person of interest in the case.

The La Plata County Sherriff’s Office told FOX31 Denver they identified the person of interest during their investigation in the last couple of weeks.

Sheriff's office spokesman Dan Bender said Wednesday that they are not naming the person, but that authorities are hopeful that the investigation of the teenager's 2012 disappearance and death is moving forward.

In addition to a person of interest, Bender said two searches conducted in June turned up "items of interest," as well.
"Because of information gathered from those searches and other contacts, we're planning on doing more searches in the area," Bender said.

La Plata County Sheriff’s Office investigators said Wednesday they have identified a “person of interest” in the Dylan Redwine case after a former FBI criminal profiler was hired to help create behavior analyses.

“It’s a fair statement that we are very encouraged that we have crossed the bridge from the unknown to the known,” said Pete Klismet, who retired from the FBI in 1999 after decades with the agency.

ULL Coed Mickey Shunick might be getting a bike path in her name.
According to KLFY,
“The plan is to name a series of planned and already existing bike paths as Mickey Shunick Memorial Bike Loop. The loop would cover ground from where the Ghost Bike is located on St. Landry, to the St. Mary path that already passes through the university and a future lane that will pass through Girard Drive and a the re-striping project that will add lanes along Bertrand Drive.”

The resolution will be presented before the Lafayette City Council for a vote at Tuesdays meeting. Lets hope that this will go through.

MEXICO CITY — Top Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, head of the powerful Sinaloa Cartel, has escaped from a maximum security prison for the second time, Mexican officials said as they launched a manhunt.

Guzman was last seen about 9 p.m. Saturday in the shower area of the Altiplano prison, 90 kilometers (56 miles) outside of Mexico City, according to a statement from the National Security Commission. He went to the shower area but after some time was lost by security camera surveillance. Upon checking his cell, authorities found it was empty.

His Sinaloa Cartel empire still stretches throughout North America and reaches as far away as Europe and Australia. The cartel has been heavily involved in the bloody drug war that has torn through parts of Mexico for the last decade, taking at least an estimated 100,000 lives.

Mexican officials had no immediate comment, but have scheduled a press conference for 7 a.m. local time.
