I will never understand that people think these siblings looked "fine" "happy" "clean" and maybe just "skinny". It horrifies me. Given what we know, how can this be said? Given what we SEE how can this be said?

Pale. Gaunt. Bruises on ankles and wrists from restraints. Robotic. Gross motor appears poor. BLACK CIRCLES under their eyes from malnutrition. Skinny limbs.

When you see the photos and videos and know their ages, that seven of them are adults, some of them in their mid to late twenties. HOW can anyone say they look "fine" and that the abuse must have only gotten worse in the last three years?

It breaks my heart and boggles my mind.

They don't look fine. Clean clothes and combed hair are the BARE minimum.

Look at them. Really LOOK at them. In fact, don't just look at them, SEE THEM. See them, while you process their ages and what we know for a fact they have been going through for bare minimum 8 years and tell me they look "fine, happy, and just a little thin". It feels like such an unintentional minimization of every horror they have been through.

I find it so disturbing and upsetting.

The 20/20 program ended on a hopeful note. Two of the medical staff said they look forward to attending the young peoples' graduations. The hand-picked team is tender and devoted to their charges. An expert said TRUST is the greatest challenge. An interview with a New York mother and her now-adult sons ( "The Wolf Pack") who survived 18 years of home confinement expressed empathy and encouragement that these children will acclimate to a loving, kind world.
The DA asked viewers with any info to call the toll-free number displayed on TV.

The sibling who went with the Shero but turned back was a sister.
"He said another child had planned to go with the 17-year-old but turned back because she was frightened of what her parents might do to them." (BBM)

From the same article
"He said the youngest child, who was born a full decade after all the rest, was the only one that the Turpins did not starve." (This makes #12 12 years old, then, based on all the info I have).

Brother Billy was the last family member to speak with LT. "'Then she told me they wanted another child. I said are you serious? Why would you want another kid, haven't you got enough? But she said: 'Yes I want another child.' "

Very concerned about the progress of the adult children. I wonder about their educational level - seems Sandcastle School was long ago washed away, despite being registered with the State of California as a private school.

Why didn't the older "children" try to escape? Why didn't the children gang up on their parents? Did one actually drive a car? Were they too indoctrinated to challenge their parents? How could they be too indoctrinated if they planned an escape for two years? Surely they knew their situation was abnormal and dangerous. Mentally under-developed? Physically too weak.

Stockholm Syndrome

Looking at the case so far, the surface is just being scratched. I suspect the abuse had been going on before 2010.

I saw 20/20 about David and Louise Turpin. I think they could be injustice collectors.

Injustice Collectors
http://www.psybersquare.com/family/family_injustice.html

Characteristics of Injustice Collectors:
1.) Injustice Collectors are convinced that they are never wrong. How is it possible that they are never wrong? It is simple: They are always right.

2.) Injustice Collectors never apologize. Ever. For anything.

3.) Injustice Collectors truly believe that they are morally and ethically superior to others and that others chronically do not hold themselves to the same high standards as the injustice collector does.

4.) Injustice Collectors make the rules, break the rules and enforce the rules of the family. They are a combined legislator, police, and judge and jury of

5.) Injustice Collectors never worry about what is wrong with themselves as their "bad list" grows. Their focus is always on the failings of others.

6.) Injustice Collectors are never upset by the disparity of their rules for others with their own expectations of themselves.

7.) Injustice Collectors rationalize their own behavior with great ease and comfort.

David and Louise Turpin show all seven characteristics.

Here are more with 20 characteristics

Characteristics of Injustice Collectors

1. Injustice collectors are never wrong. How is it possible that they are never wrong? It's simple: They are always right.

2. Injustice collectors never apologize. Ever. For anything.

3. Injustice collectors truly believe they are morally and ethically superior to others and that others seem incapable of holding themselves to the same high standards as the injustice collector does.

4. Injustice collectors make the rules, break the rules and enforce the rules of the family. They are a combination of legislator, police, judge and jury to those they consider their subjects. They forever banish from their kingdom any subject they deem disloyal, and only grant clemency if there is sufficient (in their eyes) contrition.

5. Injustice collectors never worry about what is wrong with them as their "bad" list grows. Their focus is always on the failings of others.

6. Injustice collectors are never troubled by the disparity between their rules for others and their own expectations of themselves. Injustice collectors rationalize their own behavior with great ease and comfort.

7. Injustice collectors have an external orientation; the problem always exists in the world, outside of themselves, and in their view, the world would be an acceptable place if their rules and standards were followed at all times.

8. Injustice collectors do not have a capacity for remorse, empathy or guilt.

9. Injustice collectors scoff at the idea of therapy, therapists, self-help books, and other tools used by people who struggle to live with them.

10. The phrase "walking on eggshells" describes life with an injustice collector.

11. The IC (injustice Collector) will prey upon your weaknesses to frame all issues in their terms.

12. IC's will always cry foul when you are 'mean' to them and accuse you of being nasty when you are confronting them with their negative behavior.

13. They are titanically insecure and cannot trust anyone. All relationships they have, even with their own parents and children and trustless and must be reinforced by subordination over and over.

14. They can only strengthen relationships through imprisoning their mates and banning behaviors and other relationships. Friends and family are a huge threat to the IC.

15. They must repetitively revisit situations where you service them, give in to them and agree with them. They will over time shrink your world to a small plot of empty activities that only they like. They are terrified of travel, meeting new people, understanding new concepts and paroling you from any punishment they have previously 'convicted' you of.

16. They do not care about you at all, they care about aggrandizing themselves with you as an assistant producer.

17. They will occasionally do something for you, but if you are not completely brainwashed, it will be a negative experience for you in the end. Example is throwing you a birthday party. I guarantee you will not have fun at your own party.

18. They will force you to choose between them and other things you like or love. The more you choose them, the more they will make you choose them over and over. They do not understand the concept of loyalty at all.

19. Hypocrisy is their modus operandi for debating and arguing with you. Everything they say about you is true about them. (aka Projection) It makes it so you try to 'win' fights by getting them to agree with you, which they never can because their whole position is false.

20. Your life will disappear into their lives. Your hopes and dreams will fade, even in your own mind. You will eat what they want, you will watch what they want on TV, you will vacation where they want, or not at all.

David and Louise Turpin show all twenty characteristics.

Injustice collectors are often very controlling as they are paranoid. They are prone to extreme anger and in some cases extreme violence.

Injustice collectors are usually seen in mass killers and terrorists like Stephen Paddock, Devin Kelley, Omar Mateen, Seung-Hui Cho, Adam Lanza, Eric Harris, Elliot Rodger, and Osama bin Laden. There are many abusers who are considered injustice collectors like Gertrude Baniszewski, Lori Drew, Eliza Baker, Kayla Narey, and Theresa Knorr.

This what I think. I am sure we will hear more about them.

Would it be possible and realistic, if enough money was raised, to purchase these angels a home, or homes next to each other? And have nurses and caretakers take care of them? I'd much rather see them together and safe than to be split up and spread out all over with questionable foster families.

id donate for sure if this was a realistic goal.

Also , the posts of why they didn't escape "sooner" or when they were in public.

Read up on the effects of severe abuse and trauma on the psyche and the very real effects of Stockholm Syndrome. Read the narratives of Jaycee Dugard or Elizabeth Smart.

The shackles become internal and psychological very quickly. It's about survival. Please don't question why these siblings didn't run, escape or tell someone sooner. Severe and complex trauma is a complicated and very real thing.

Vent over.

The “Wolfpack family” (I kind of feel uncomfortable calling them that) gives me hope that the turpins can overcome all of this. They seem like they’ve come a long way. But damn. Sad that they also experienced such terrible abuse and isolation.

Why did they rene me their vows multiple times???
MOO

You wouldn’t think it would be a priority when they were financially strapped! It would have cost a lot to transport them all to Vegas, dress them and the chapel service cost itself.

They prob didn’t care.. they’d just file bankruptcy again if it came down to it.

They post two pics of LT. One with her pregnant in a pink shirt, and one with her with a newborn. They label them as her pregnant with her youngest child, and right after she was born. These are important pics, because there has been a lot of speculation about whether the youngest is, in fact, their biological child. LOOK at how clean everything is. The room with the crib, the bed with the sheets. Look at LT's look of adoration at this infant. What a horrid monster. (I am attaching the pregnancy pic, but not the infant pic because her face is not blurred) 484AC5C600000578-0-image-m-48_1516375912372.jpg
LT's brother and sister said they always saw pics of the youngest, never of the others.

This all makes me even more sure that things escalated out of control with the birth of the youngest. The birth of each child "erased" the last child born. But this baby, born after 10 years, had greater significance perhaps?

Perhaps the word "sibling" should be used instead of "thing" - such a dehumanising term and we are normalising it by using it here. I know why it started being used here and I know no one means any offence, which is why I am not quoting anyone, but the language we are using to talk about this family is really important.

I think the eldest girl looks a lot like Louise's mother. It has been speculated (was it here or other forums?) that she may have been a scapegoat of sorts, receiving the worst treatment. If that were true I wonder if her resemblance to Louise's mother played any part in that.

I guess it makes sense that the nursery would be clean and perfect in this picture because this is what she is sharing on FB. To the outside world everything was perfect. Smh

.

Thank you for the info about injustice collectors. Good info.
The DA said the abuse began in Texas, and continued and escalated in Ca. They moved to CA in 2010. DA said that the neglect (clothes, medical care, food, clean home) began in Fort Worth, that the living in different homes was in Fort Worth (I am betting that the newest infant(s) were in the home with DT/LT and the no-longer desired siblings were "housed" elsewhere). The Tieing to beds/furniture began in Texas.
So yes, I think you're right that the abuse pre-dates 2010.
The DA did say that they can only prosecute what happened in CA, and that Texas will need to pursue what happened in Texas.

I saw Elizabeth Flores interviewed and the person who bought the derelict and squalid houses once inhabited by the Turpins. This indicates that abuse did happen in Texas.

As for injustice collector, I have seen that a lot in abusers and bullies. It is not just only mass killers and terrorists who are injustice collectors. However, many mass killers and terrorists have a history of abusing and bullying people.

I have not heard much from people other than family and relatives about David and Louise Turpin. I would be interested in hear from his colleagues.
