Once inside, they opened fire with rifles, shooting people in a conference room where a holiday party was taking place, authorities said. Hundred of people were seen streaming out of the building moments later, some described by witnesses as holding their hands above their heads and even diving for cover behind cars in a parking lot.

Seems someone knew there would be a gathering. jmo idk

quoted to add.

"They came prepared to do what they did as if on a mission," he added.
Burguan said police do not know the identities or motive of the shooters, who he said numbered "upwards of three."

The one the day before was a party of some of the 'clients' of the Regional Center and their families.

The one today had nothing to do with the Regional Center--it was a group that rented out the conference room so they could have Holiday Luncheon and Awards Ceremony, thrown by SB Supervisors

Thanks for the info.

Personally I would prefer for every one in America to have a gun (at a responsible age), know how to use and have it for protection. I think some of this would stop.

This seems to have a terrorist feel to it, but with one exception. Middle eastern inspired terrorist really seem to enjoy blowing things up......both people and buildings. No explosions involved in this attack....at least not yet.

It's way past time for Schools, public buildings, and businesses to have better security measures. It's 2015 there have been too many incidents. Gun carrying individuals should be setting off sensor alarms or something as they enter a building. Isn't there some kind of technology for this?

I agree. But right now I am not 100% sold on it being 3 people.

It's so weird that no one can confirm the amount of suspects yet.

If this was 3 wackos wanting to just kill a bunch of people...why not go to various areas of the building?

None of the scenarios make much sense to me with the little information we have right now.

I heard an interview with a woman working in a building beside where the shooting occurred and she said she saw 3 suspects, dressed in black military style clothing carrying long guns

There was talk earlier (sorry, can't remember where/what article/twitter) about IED's and/or bomb squad complete with robots in the area.
I think it was either KTLA or Jeff Gold.

Officers are now scouring the area for up to three white males dressed in tactical gear and ski masks and armed with AK-47s who are believed to have carried out the morning attacks.

Police said the suspects came prepared with long guns. They are searching for a black SUV that the suspects were believed to have fled in after leaving behind a suspicious device.

San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan declined to say what kind of weapons they used at the Inland Regional Center. Burguan says a motive wasn't yet clear, but that the shooters 'were on a mission' and 'came in with a purpose.'

Burguan added that it is too early to say whether the attackers targeted that area or chose it out of convenience or at random

To me it seems more like a drill. The big rehearsal before the actual thing.

If this is a disgruntled employee shooting then it is a whole new kind of disgruntled employee shooting.

My teenager is watching the news with me, and told me about the drills they have at school for active shooting situations. I had NO idea, but I'm glad. I told him when I was in school, we only had fire and tornado drills. It's so sad that we have to prepare our children for this.

My oldest daughter was a Freshman in High school when Columbine occurred- they had been on spring break at the time of the shooting- (thankfully since I'm from Littleton and just wanted her home when those images hit CNN) when they went back there were several bomb threats phoned in and the normal evacuation place was down on the football field, it had been that way for years but after Columbine even the students went "hey we are sitting ducks out here" and that procedure was changed- by the time my youngest was a freshman the drills were more active shooter oriented and as frequent as fire drills.

Yes, me, too and many , many law abiding citizens had guns back then. Why are things so different now and these things are occurring?
Whoever these terrible people are I HOPE the are caught soon. There is NOTHING that can justify murders of any kind. IMO

If am thinking along the lines of white supremacy, notice a lot of the people coming out of building are of Hispanic decent.

My DIL just started teaching Freshman english at a local college. The first day of class she asked the students if they had any questions. One student stood up and asked her if she had any set plans about what they should do about an active shooter. Then the class got into a discussion about what their actions should be. SO SAD they have to think about that.
