Once inside, they opened fire with rifles, shooting people in a conference room where a holiday party was taking place, authorities said. Hundred of people were seen streaming out of the building moments later, some described by witnesses as holding their hands above their heads and even diving for cover behind cars in a parking lot.

Seems someone knew there would be a gathering. jmo idk
The one the day before was a party of some of the 'clients' of the Regional Center and their families.
The one today had nothing to do with the Regional Center--it was a group that rented out the conference room so they could have Holiday Luncheon and Awards Ceremony, thrown by SB Supervisors

And that would leave us unarmed citizens to fight it out with armed ****s, No thanks.
I agree. But right now I am not 100% sold on it being 3 people.
It's so weird that no one can confirm the amount of suspects yet.
If this was 3 wackos wanting to just kill a bunch of people...why not go to various areas of the building?
None of the scenarios make much sense to me with the little information we have right now.
This seems to have a terrorist feel to it, but with one exception. Middle eastern inspired terrorist really seem to enjoy blowing things up......both people and buildings. No explosions involved in this attack....at least not yet.

My teenager is watching the news with me, and told me about the drills they have at school for active shooting situations. I had NO idea, but I'm glad. I told him when I was in school, we only had fire and tornado drills. It's so sad that we have to prepare our children for this.
Hugs to you anyway....

If this is a disgruntled employee shooting then it is a whole new kind of disgruntled employee shooting.
My oldest daughter was a Freshman in High school when Columbine occurred- they had been on spring break at the time of the shooting- (thankfully since I'm from Littleton and just wanted her home when those images hit CNN) when they went back there were several bomb threats phoned in and the normal evacuation place was down on the football field, it had been that way for years but after Columbine even the students went "hey we are sitting ducks out here" and that procedure was changed- by the time my youngest was a freshman the drills were more active shooter oriented and as frequent as fire drills.
