Well this is a tragic shame in what is already a frustrating case! I would hope they share the same goal, but the fact that the grandmother has control of the $$$ and has hired a PR firm gives me the creeps! WTH?

I feel the same. It is very unfortunate the grandmother has hired Michelle Bart. I think it's a decision she will regret.

The new website looks great. According to the website Carrie (Amber's mom) is going to be on the Tyra Show on 10/14. She seems like a very strong, special woman. Her daughter is missing yet she has found time to help search for Lindsay Baum too.

The recent arrest re: the other kidnapping attempt is interesting but my gut tells me it isn't the same person.

Missing girl's parents to appear on TV shows

The parents of Amber Dubois will appear on two previously taped national TV shows as part of the effort to keep the Escondido teenager's case in the public eye.

Maurice Dubois and Carrie McGonigle will be on the Steve Wilkos Show today (the show airs locally at 11 a.m. on KTLA Chn. 14), and on the Tyra Banks Show on Oct. 14 (the show airs locally at 3 p.m. on XETV Chn. 6).

Just curious, for such an animal lover it sounds like she doesn't have any pets. I wonder if she is allergic or if it would have just been too difficult to care for since she spent time at both parent's homes.

amber does have pets lots of pets!!!! Dogs, cat, rat, horses, you name it she either has it or has had it.

Police press on in their quest to find Escondido girl

In August, police thought they had found Amber Dubois, the 14-year-old Escondido girl missing since February. For three weeks, they had been tracking a girl who had been seen near Garberville in Humboldt County.

“Somebody saw a flier and said, ‘Wow, I'm sure that's her,’ ” said Escondido police Lt. Bob Benton. Escondido police contacted deputies in the county 700 miles away, and more fliers were distributed.

More tips came in. The girl looked like Amber, and she had told people that was her name. She had also told people she was from Escondido.

“We thought we had it solved,” Benton said.

But like so many leads and tips since Amber disappeared, the efforts were for naught. Deputies found the girl, whose name really is Amber. And she had run away from her home in Escondido — Escondido Lakes, Wash. She was 17.

3 things I always wonder about - the boy, the phone, and the truck. Note what they say about the truck. Kind of vague though.

Amber was last seen at 7:10 a.m. Feb. 13 walking to Escondido High School on North Broadway. She was walking with a tall boy who has yet to be identified.

Two video recordings made from cameras at the school show that Amber did not keep walking toward the campus.

It's possible, though police think it unlikely, that she was abducted on the street. It's also possible she walked across the football field or turned around and headed north. The cameras would have recorded her if she had walked past the football field or near the main building.

I have been comparing the picture of Amber to the girl found in New York and they are very close. I believe this may be her. The shape of the face, her chin, nose, and lips look very much alike. I pray for her family this is her!raying:

I was excited when I read your post, but when I brought up the picture, I didn't think it looked anything like our Amber. : (

I really think a family member should be comparing the pictures. I see similarity in the shape of the eyes and ears. But there are some differences. My questions are could those differences be caused by weight gain, botox or something else? Definitely the hair is different and the NY Amber has a different look in her eyes. That could be something that came about over time? I don't know.

Does anyone know if Amber Dubois was a big reader, into the fantasy fiction genre? This seems to be a big clue for this girl, as she's interested in writing and has been able to recall passages of a popular teen fantasy fiction book from whatever memories she has. I can't seem to find anything about Amber's habits re: likes, dislikes on her official page except that she apparently loved animals and according to Mom, she is content as long as she has a good book to read...
