Found in the bathtub make me immediately think either suicide or accidental OD.
Hopefully the kids are fine and located quickly.

Family said she had moved to Elk Grove though, and didn't live at the North Sac house with Camron.

The latter has me concerned. It sounded like she had worked to separate herself from him, to the point of living somewhere else, but frequently dropped their kids off at his house. Then she is found dead in his house? I can think of maybe 2-3 scenarios where it was accidental or natural, and a dozen different things that might have set him off. Especially since her family said she was acting strangely at her brother's graduation.

I hope I am wrong and that CL is a wonderful father and it was all an accident and he panicked and ran, but it seems more like they're worried he might harm the kids if they are too aggressive with the search.

No cause of death and no updates, but an article in the Bee today is reporting Angelica's relationship with Camron was off and on and abusive: Sacramento mom who died was ending violent relationship, family says. Her kids remain missing

Although these dramatic changes initially seemed to improve Bravo’s sense of well-being, she seemed withdrawn and fearful in the weeks before her death, family said. Authorities found Bravo’s body on Didcot Circle, in a home she had shared with Lee before she and the children moved to a new apartment. [Angelica's mother Dawn] Bodea added that in the days before her death, Bravo said she had been beaten by Lee, who prevented her from leaving the home and took away her phone and keys.

His car was last seen crossing the Mexico border. The family said they met with the detective on the case Wednesday afternoon.

"What they told us really was that the car was found in Ensenada abandoned. They didn't really get information if there was car seats in it. And they should know if there was cause car seats leave an indent no matter what. So we're hoping to get more information on that," Gilbert said.

Bravo's mother and brother believe someone is helping Lee get around and people know of his whereabouts.

"We do know he's fluent in Spanish, so that helps him move around in Mexico. We know that he's fluent in Korean, and he also has family in Korea that I'm aware of. And so that's just one of our fears is that he might try to eventually get to Korea," said Dawn Bodea, Angelica's mother.

Angelica's mother, Dawn Bodea, said the latest update from Sacramento Police was the kids are believed to have been dropped off somewhere in Southern California, even though the SUV their father was last seen driving was caught on camera crossing into Mexico.

"The latest news is essentially there's no news," said Bodea.

[...]

Angelica's death is being called a death investigation, not a homicide because they are still waiting for the autopsy report to see her cause of death.

That is why Sacramento police have not named any suspects in her death.

I wish they would release more info on why they think the kids were dropped off in SoCal.
Me too!

According to this article:

Their father Camron Lee was seen driving a Honda Passport that crossed into Mexico. Police said Friday that the vehicle was unoccupied when found in Ensenada.

Police said last week the children were potentially dropped off in Southern California where Lee has family ties.

Surely they’ve questioned & checked these family members.

Athena and Mateo are still missing, and their father is now being called a person of interest in their mother's death.

It’s been more than three weeks since authorities found Angelica Marie Bravo dead in a Sacramento home and detectives determined her two youngest children, Athena Lee, 4, and Mateo Lee, 2, were missing and believed to be in a vehicle driven by their father, Camron Lee.

Detectives are still looking for the children, and their father identified as a “person-of-interest” in their disappearance also remains missing. Last week, authorities found the vehicle believed to be driven by Camron Lee abandoned in a Mexican beach town about 70 miles south of U.S. border.

Officer Anthony Gamble, a Sacramento Police Department spokesman, said they continue to work with federal, state and local law enforcement officials.

“We don’t know where the kids are,” Gamble said Wednesday. “We’re hopeful they’re in the Southern California region.”

There is no cause of death yet for Angelica Bravo, and it looks like police are stressing that he's not yet considered a suspect and they aren't even sure if foul play was involved in her death.

The Sacramento Bee newspaper is also questioning why an Amber Alert was never issued.

domestic violence greatly affects people of every gender, but women are easily more at risk.

Whilst both men and women may experience incidents of inter-personal violence and abuse, women are considerably more likely to experience repeated and severe forms of abuse, including sexual violence. They are also more likely to have experienced sustained physical, psychological or emotional abuse, or violence which results in injury or death. There are important differences between male violence against women and female violence against men, namely the amount, severity and impact. Women experience higher rates of repeated victimisation and are much more likely to be seriously hurt (Walby & Towers, 2017; Walby & Allen, 2004) or killed than male victims of domestic abuse (ONS, 2020A; ONS, 2020B). Further to that, women are more likely to experience higher levels of fear and are more likely to be subjected to coercive and controlling behaviours (Dobash & Dobash, 2004; Hester, 2013; Myhill, 2015; Myhill, 2017).

And this woman's mom said she was feeling bad for "breaking up her family", when the person breaking up the family was Camron. Devastating.

The family of two young children missing for nearly a month is still searching for them and is pushing police to provide more updates on the investigation.

Nearly a month later, with little to no answers, family members and close friends said they are creating a $10,000 reward that they are offering to anyone who can bring Athena and Mateo back home.

*****
A spokesperson with the Sacramento Police Department told KCRA 3 that detectives just had a meeting Tuesday afternoon about this case, adding that they are working around the clock alongside their federal, state and local partners. They also said that they could not disclose a lot of the details of the investigation because they did not want to jeopardize the search for the two children.

No real updates, unfortunately. Athena and Mateo are still missing.

More than a month later, the family continues to grieve Bravo’s death, trying to cope by keeping busy with her memorial service, which they held Aug. 13. They continue to await news of her children’s whereabouts.

“It has been the hardest thing we have ever faced in our entire lives. Our entire family and extended family is devastated by Angelica’s loss and the disappearance of our grandchildren,” Dawn Bodea, Bravo’s mother said in an e-mail interview with the Nichi Bei News.

Bodea said she wants to keep the story in the public’s eye in hopes of bringing her grandchildren home. She described Athena as the “spitting image” of Bravo when she was 4 years old, adding that she joked with her daughter that Athena was Bravo’s “Mini Me.” She described Mateo as “a little baller,” who started dribbling a basketball before he was two years old. She added that he could “run and dribble the ball better than most people I know,” despite only being 2 years old.

“Both kids love dinosaurs and building things and doing things with their hands. They love arts and crafts, playing in the water and being messy,” she added.

Court records show back in 2019, officers with the East Sacramento Gang Enforcement Team arrested Lee for illegally carrying a concealed weapon in his car. A search of his car turned up a loaded gun, marijuana, a digital scale, two cell phones and lots of cash, according to police. In 2021 he was arrested again with a Glock 23 handgun, thousands of dollars in cash, multiple cell phones and marijuana.

This is what I gather - dad is a professional dealer, mom ODd, he already had kids and gave them to friends or family to keep 'safe' and is possibly wrapped up in a bigger problem than this one, I'm not convinced he fled only because of her death, there may be other reasons which accounts for LE being careful about it.

I really, truly hope the kids are safe somewhere. I'm concerned no one has reported them safe yet, though.
