From watching the video above AND in looking at the image provided.

3:53 RT and BT park Truck and RV to walk.. Take pics of rocks and stuff.

Yellow = 4:50 Public Paved parking..
RT was wanting to know why LE did not investigate vehicles parked there.

Red = 5:55 Pumping station .. Paved parking for employees

Green= Remote camp sites .. Road leading in is near Red "Pumping Station"

Thanks so much--this is great.

I'd love to know what "hill" RT and BT saw the parking lot from, and the route of their 2.2 mile walk on the trails in the area of the big boulder piles. I sure hope Barbara will eventually be found.

Do you think they went to the primitive campground ? That dirt road may give views ..

It's possible, I guess. Looking at the Google satellite map, I doubt you could see the paved parking lot from the primitive campsites; they seem to be tucked in below rocks that would block the view. JMO
I was thinking the road they have to drive in on to get to the remote camp site ..
The video shows the complete kelbaker road and we do not see a high spot on the main road.

This could be that high spot. This road leads to the primitive campground. It is accessed at the pumping station.. At this point on that dirt road, RT could turn his truck and trailer around to go back to Kelbaker and they can see the parking from this spot.
So is this the place for the 360 image ?

Though @dbdb11's sister remembered RT saying they took the 360 from a "hill," it's certainly possible that the point near the pumping station (I think you have a red dot in one of the screen grabs) is the high spot from which they could've seen a parking lot, specifically the one that's around .6 miles north of the intersection of Kelbaker/Hidden Hill. According to Google Earth, it's ~4042 ft which is approximately 100 feet higher than the boulder view parking lot noted by @slowpoke and others (~3940 ft; yellow pin). It's also .62 miles away.

It turns out that the rock outcropping "hills" that appear to have been the destination of the walk RT described are actually a little lower than the boulder view parking lot. I think they still could've photographed cars in the lot from those outcroppings, but am not sure. JMO

Thank you for this summary. I need to learn to use Google Earth so I can see elevation.

I agree it's *possible* that the high spot @cazador marked near the pumping station is where the 360 photo that included the view of the paved parking lot was taken.

I wonder whether RT and BT could have driven to that area first, maybe to check out the primitive camping sites? -- and then drove back south to the pullout where they ended up parking--because they realized it was a better place to park for their walk to see the boulder piles. I don't think the information we got from the VI suggests that happened, but that doesn't mean it didn't....

For prospective..
A Drone being used to film the area we are interested in and notice where they are at 2:00-2:30

Thank you! Good view of the paved parking area near the end of the video. Now we just need a drone to view the Kelbaker/Hidden Hill rds intersection and vicinity (including areas on the east side of Kelbaker as well as west), including the trails to the rock piles and the dry wash, etc. Is that what you are planning to do later this month? I will go back and look at your earlier posts about that...

Having watched part of the video I can't imagine why anyone would want to go there...
I would drive straight through it!

I have very little experience with deserts but find them intriguing--such a different landscape from what I'm used to. Those rock piles (outcroppings) look interesting. But perhaps a short desert visit would be enough for me!

Well .. We have an idea where she was when she went missing.
BUT over the time we have been here, there has been many theory on how they got to this location and some have theorized that they may have stopped at other locations. So it is well within the scope to know all about this area of desert that RT and his beautiful wife BT found themselves in..
It is good to educate ourselves on the area.. :}
They came in off of Highway 40 and turned onto Kelbaker Rd. but Highway 15 was also an option and between both highways is the Mohave National Park. In this park many believe BT is resting and waiting to be found.
Take a look at the park and all it has to offer..

Okay, now I'm convinced the Mojave Desert would be worth visiting. But maybe not in the summer. :) Interesting how varied the landscape is within the Preserve. Thanks for the video!

IIRC, they got ice in Needles so I-40 would be the most logical route taken to Kelbaker Road.
