I am in agreement that an RV is something you drive!

Then there are trailers, campers, pop-ups etc.

Did RT like to impress people by calling his camper an RV?
Was he a person who liked to boast?

We know nothing about him and as far as I am aware, no one has come out giving information on what type of guy he is.

Maybe they aren’t close. Maybe rt thought someone else would contact the son? Families are weird...

My husband thinks it's weird that I talk to my mom on the phone every day...he can literally go months without bothering to check in with his family. He had to have emergency surgery last year and the last thing he said when they were wheeling his bed out was to make sure I didn't tell anyone in his family what was going on. He claimed he didn't want to worry them. Every family is different, it's just that most families don't have someone go missing in what turns out to be a pretty high profile case.

An RV that you drive is a motor home. An RV you tow with another vehicle is a travel trailer. An RV that you put on the bed of a pickup truck is a camper. An RV that you tow that pops up can be called a tent trailer.

The picture I saw of the Thomas's 5th wheel trailer looked like it was a very nice one. JMO

I'm surprised that no one contacted the son about his mom's disappearance.

Not one family member. Not one member of LE at least for nearly a week. And not one family friend.

On top of the lack of notification, the son also was never exposed to the MSM and social media attention his mothers disappearance generated.

I find all of that combined as being odd. JMO

I agree.

It was all over the news. How is it possible that he didn't hear about it - even if family members didn't notify him?

Color me skeptical.

To me, the notes are a red flag. IMHO, in an abusive relationship, where the man is extremely insecure, a woman might do this as self-preservation. I don't know anything about them or their relationship, but his showing those notes gave me a sense of her unease. **I hope that doesn't offend anybody.

I agree with you. From personal experience. Been there myself. Plus how are those notes supposed to be relevant to her disappearance? Only reason i can think of is to demonstrate RT's 'innocence'

If he calls his fifth wheel an RV, it doesn't mean he likes to impress people or likes to boast; it just means he knows what an RV is.

Peter Hyatt has never been an allowed source of information on Websleuths so if he does comment on this case linking to him will not be allowed. JMO

I think member got around it by posting a youtube video, not something from his site.

This is probably a dumb thing to focus on but was she wearing shorts? I just kind of assumed that she was. If you are hiking a bikini bottom doesn't offer much protection if you trip. If you sit on a rock or anything rough it can really destroy your bottoms.

Exactly. I don't find it that odd and I wouldn't label it as a red flag.

I'm not overly close with my in-laws. My wife would probably tell you she's closer to my folks than hers.

If my wife went missing, (after calling 911) I'd probably call my parents first. I'd contact my in-laws later. Maybe even hours later.. It just wouldn't be a priority for me if I was frantically trying to search and assist authorities in searching for my wife.

I don't see the timing of the communication to be a red flag at all. BT's son would absolutely be a great source for law enforcement in understanding the family dynamics and the relationship BT/RT had.

All my opinion.

The thread before this one... I think it was mentioned that R.T. had changed the description from "a bikini" , to -- "a bikini top and shorts".
Iirc.

Snipped for brevity.
Bolding mine

Is there a possibility Barbara's son would like to join us here ?
His input would be helpful.

When I first saw this case, my impression was that she hadn't been intending to actually hike...like she was planning on just relaxing in the sum with her beer, but then ended up walking with RT. I wouldn't want to wander through the brush without pants on, but BT may have been comfortable with it. This case is a bit of an enigma...I really hope she is found safe, but it's not looking good,

Why did RT (or someone close to him) not notify BT's son that she was missing?

It's kind of weird the police didn't contact him either. Maybe RT didn't mention him which is strange. The son could have had important insight into his mom's marriage. I can understand letting a day go by without calling people if the desert is being searched and there seems every chance she'll be found. RT seemed pretty convinced of foul play but those searching for her wouldn't have reason to believe that.

Does that mean that police did not take RT's cell phone to examine it until 6 days later? I thought I had read previously that LE got his number from looking at the cell phone, correct? Putting aside the surprise of RT not calling Barb's son, 6 days also seems like a really long time for LE to wait to investigate phone numbers in the phone and contact her son.

MOO

i assume they got the number from robbies phone. initially i assumed they got it from barbs cell, but it turns out barb didnt have a cell that we know of.

at this stage most sleuthing is going on in private conversations. i am staying active on this side just incase some detail arises or someone else with inside info chimes in. also just to keep this thread as active as possible. its heartbreaking when there is no activity.

i have to refer you to thread one and two. ive asked moderators to leave a few of my pre VI posts deleted, as the case was starting to lead down dangerous holes. obviously i am skeptical and have my own suspicions about barbs disappearance and larger forces at work. but the story we have is highly questionable, with a narrow window for disappearance claimed by husband, yet a gaping window between when barb and her husband were seen leaving their house in the morning, and when rob finally called police.

there will be questions about what i have shared. i have info i consider reliable from neighbors.

yes i would like to share everything publicly. but aspects of the case make me feel that might not be in barbs best interest. i appreciate everyones help, even the pure opinion and wild speculation. it is all energy being spent on the search for barb. thank you all
