If you go to her NamUs page, there are photos of her ears.

If she was black, she was a very fair-skinned black.

I doubt she was. There are very easily identifiable skeletal indicators of black ancestry.

Could some of you please take a look at Reyna Gabriella Alvarado-Carrera (nickname: Gaby) for this UID, please?

I know she disappeared from Georgia, but info says she and her abductor may have traveled to Phoenix, Arizona; Los Angeles, California; or Mexico. Even with a few years passing from her missing date of 2005 until the UID was found in 2010, age range could still pretty much fit, as she was 13 when she went missing.

I see no photos that show her ears, unfortunately...

Looks like UID, but DNA is in on both, so...

The age progressed photo of Reyna beside the one of the UID is...just wow!

If anyone comes up with a possible with good smiling photos of her teeth, here is a photo of the Jane Doe's teeth for comparison.

Note (1) the small talon cusp on her upper left canine, and (2) that the biting edge of her right upper lateral incisor (unlike her left) sits a little high with respect to the adjacent central incisor.

:bump:

Who are you?!!!

I really want to know!!!

Along highways, signs of serial killings
10/5/10

...The teenage girl likely had been killed days earlier, Barstow police say. Her head lay a few hundred yards from a truck stop just off Interstate 15, not far from I-40. To authorities, the proximity to the truck stop and the interstates suggests that the slaying might have been the work of a distinctive type of criminal: a serial killer operating along the nation's highways.

Also, adding pic of the backpack:

Would anyone report a missing, undocumented person?

That's a very good question.

If someone is "undocumented," no one may even know that they are around in order to BE reported missing.

If someone knew that the person WAS "undocumented," they may not want to report them missing because it could get them (the MP) in trouble with the law, immigration, etc.

Undocumented status hasn't stopped parents around New England from reporting missing children, even though in some cases the family did get into trouble because of it.

That brand and style of backpack appears easily available:
http://www.amazon.com/Everest-Luggage-Classic-Backpack-Medium/dp/B004GI9PB2
http://www.bizrate.com/backpacks/2530949503.html

Yes common indeed - scroll down at the link below to the photos of a charitable backpack giveaway, loaded in the back of vehicles ready for delivery in the Inland Empire, there is one of these exact Everest backpacks there in the middle of the first row. Looks like possibly a few more in the picture under those, of backpacks lined up against a wall...fwiw...they probably had a mass donation of them made for the backpack giveaways over the years.

Reviewing again...I didn't see this older link posted:

Head found in Barstow still a mystery
September 30, 2010

Snipped...

Of five homicides that occurred in Barstow so far this year, Barstow detectives have solved all but one.

...“We haven’t had any promising new leads,” said Sgt. Andy Espinoza Sr. “They all dried up, there is just nothing there that would give anything to add (to the investigation).”

...Espinoza said the police department has been in contact with an FBI task force that monitors possible serial killers that travel along the interstates in hopes of finding a suspect.

...The time of death has been estimated to be within three or four days of the discovery of the victim’s remains.

I have been looking for some potential matches for this Jane Doe and have come up with a few potentials that I would like everyone's opinions on please. I am no expert at this and there may be some people better experienced on here to rule out those that I have found.

1. Lea Garmendez: https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/10798/0/
- Last seen Feb 22, 2010 (I know this would rule her out as our JD as JD was found Feb 10, but I thought I would put it out there in case the date entered was an error (it has happened before).
- no pictures of teeth unfortunately (although dental charting is available and entered according to NAMUS)
- pierced ears

2. Yareli Barajas https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/16970/111
- last seen 11 Aug 2009
- again no pictures of her smiling unfortunately (nor is there any Dental information available as per NAMUS)
- her pictures appear to show that she has pierced ears

3. Amelia Antonio https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/5800/74
- Missing since 4 June 2009
- again no pictures of her smiling unfortunately (nor is there any Dental information available as per NAMUS)
- DNA is available would that automatically rule her out?

4. Ashley Porter https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/2249/54
I know Ashley may be a long shot as she is African American and not Hispanic but I thought there was some facial resemblance there and I also thought there smile was similar

Thanks :)

Yareli is the only one of the four that I would say maybe. But I don't see anything there to get too excited about.

Incidentally, since you mention Lea Garmendez, that reminded me. A few years ago, my mother and I used to be regular customers of a restaurant near the LA Airport called The Grinder. The restaurant is closed down now, but there was a waitress named Daniela who worked there who looked spot-on like Lea Garmendez. Even her glasses were similar.

I went in there one day, and pulled up Lea's NAMPN page on my iPhone, and surreptitiously compared Lea's photo to her as she walked by. I compared their glasses, and there were subtle differences between hers and Lea's glasses. I finally decided that there were subtle differences in their facial features that were different enough that I decided that they weren't the same person.

I showed it to the other waiters, and everyone thought she looked just like Daniela.

Might be worth following up on. In Virginia, the suspect in the Morgan Harrington/Hannah Graham case is a former cab driver whose buddies used to joke about how much he looked like the police sketch.

Thanks for taking a look Carl :) do you think it is worth putting Yareli forward as a potential or you don't see to many similarities?

I am somewhat hesitant to suggest this because if they were the same person, the DNA would indicate a match (unless they only had nuclear in one case and mitochondrial in the other, maybe?); yet I wonder if Karla Rodriguez (https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/6593/1) has ever been looked at as a possible match? She was 7 years old when she disappeared on her way to school in Las Vegas, NV a decade before the unidentified head was found.
