New here- sorry if I missed it but several things (!!!) I still don't understand... to start was he using a cell phone a family friend gave him?

On school days, LOTS. Kids walk from the lower (lower down the hill) neighborhoods up the footpath to the school and a lot of parents pick up and dropoff at the shopping center to avoid the traffic closer to the school. The park itself is also a popular place after school.

I think it's convenient the driver used the restroom.. now he can say 'I didn't see which way he went.'
and blaze didn't "run off".. during an interview the mom used that descriptor for a simplification of the "meeting someone" story line.
 
I can't find it, but in the first thread there was mention of a car that was at the park and was possibly left overnight. Is that still there or has it been claimed or towed??

Seems the bathroom is next to the parking lot.....and the path (Borrego Trail) from there as in around the bathroom and thru the sports field appears pretty wide opened so not in amongst trees FWIW....you can take that path / trail north and west to come out quite a ways down Alton Pkwy FWIW (streetview: https://goo.gl/maps/k9joBHsSaSF2 )

If there was a 3rd person, which I don't think there was, the person either had to live close-by and walk into the park, get dropped off by someone else, park at the park (but then the friend could say there was another car there), or park down at the shopping center/Whiting Ranch entrance and walk up the hill. I don't think there are any cameras that would pick up someone walking up and down the path, but I can take a look when I go by there today. The shopping center is pretty well traveled, even at 11:00 at night. It would be hard to track down cars going in and out of there.

His parents reported last night they are going through tons of drone video of whiting Ranch. LE might be doing a lot of pausing, rewinding, zooming, and slo mo on all that video surveillance they've collected. It takes time.
 
I don't have anything new to add. I am just sad, and I feel that Blaze's decisions have led him into an unfortunate situation he did not deserve. People can be very bad, and it's so sad to me that an adorable young man with so much ahead of him may have been taken from us because of someone who is selfish and evil. I feel for his parents, and I hope and pray that their handsome boy finds his way home safely. I'm not optimistic, but until he's found, I will hope hope hope!

It was there as of yesterday. Someone ran the license and posted who it was registered to and address so it was pulled. I haven't checked today. They also reported it had been cleared but who knows.

Oh it was registered to a business in Costa Mesa. It was a white or off white Cadillac.

I didn't talk about the drone footage, I was talking about security camera footage from local buildings/stores/restaurants/gas station.

Yes, that brownish colored building is the bathroom.

To end up way down at Alton on the Borrego trail (where your link is) means you'd have to cross some major streets and walk through shopping centers or industrial areas. It is not a continuous wilderness path.

The school next to the park is an elementary school. Not sure if he ever went to that school. The school has cameras, but it sits a little higher than the park.

But if you did not want to be seen, 5 minutes would work, wouldn't it?

The yellow pins suggest a path from the parking lot to the shopping center. If you left the parking lot running towards the trail head you would also be taking the path towards the shopping center, wouldn't you? Also note, the dark green area to the left is the trail. It appears to have many places you could hypothetically leave the trail and hike uphill to the neighoborhood. Just a thought.

I think they might be being coached by their family attorney and LE. I can't remember her name.

I would be crying uncontrollably if it were my sons. I'm not that calm.
