According to his lawyer:
Ashton had never been to Seattle before he moved there and that his opinion of his new home and the move is a complicated subject. This stuff will all get brought out,
Hmm, might his parents have 'sent him away' against his wishes? The Sachs' house was large but do we know how many bedrooms it had? Maybe there were space issues and in order to accommodate each child (and adult) with their own room, Ashton had to go. Maybe he resented this and just wanted to come back home to SoCal.
ETA - Found this old listing for their home. Back in 2009 when they purchased it, it only had 4 bedrooms. http://www.redfin.com/CA/San-Juan-Capistrano/32271-Peppertree-Bnd-92675/home/4968376
So they're saying that his motivation was not financially motivated.. But he's pleading not guilty. Anyone thinking they're going the insanity route? That will definitely be interesting.. I live a city away from where it happened.. I'll definitely be attending the trial.
Thanks Nancy for the update.
How strange, not for financial gain, but for some reason they seem to know. What? I really want to know what happened to this boy that unhinged him so completely.
Also, why does the sister say, Ive been alienated from the family, she said.
It's all so odd.
He entered a not guilty plea? I'm surprised.
I just dropped in to wish any of our SJC area posters well, and hope noone was scared by the fire in the creek there. I was scared it was going to be another big wildfire like the San Diego ones, but apparently police have just arrested someone on suspicion of starting the SJC fire deliberately.
