Hi, PrairieWind; I like your posts. As for the "officer," I plead laziness: I remembered that he was a Marine officer, but forgot the exact rank (Staff Sergeant.)

I think that your analysis is completely correct. I'm imagining that Lopez became incredibly inebriated on her birthday and somehow things went hopelessly out of control. (Once, years ago, walking home from seeing a friend on New Year's Eve night, I came upon the aftermath of a celebration that ended with a boyfriend shooting himself in the head after he and his girlfriend had left the club. A witness was telling the cops that it had happened so suddenly that it seemed incomprehensible.)

I should own to a mistake: Earlier, I said that Perez's lawyer had said that he had been married for ten years. Actually, the lawyer said that he was married and had lived in the area for ten years.
 
Yesterday I was ready to beleive this girl was part of this sex slave/ring whatever they like to call it. I have read loads more comments on the news sites and it seems as though the house perez and lopez were living in the police described as being set up for sexual deviance, so I do beleive without a doubt that that pair were involved in some form of sex ring.
It has been said on quite a few occasions that Brittany went out a lot with her friends, I am thinking she was maybe your typical young party girl of 22 and I she was invited out with this pair (this we know for sure) and ended up at this house and something has gone seriously wrong while there...be it jealousy, sex game gone wrong, or her wanting no part of it and being attacked.
If she was not into this with the other 2 I really do hope her name is cleared as it is all over the internet that she may have been involved in a sex ring.
 
This case vaguely reminds me of Alexis Rasmussen. It's very different - but I think something went wrong that night with Alexis, just as I think something went wrong with Brittany - something unplanned.

Chanler, you could be right. Sometimes our imaginations try to create elaborate plots regarding these cases, when the reality could be as simple and senseless as you say. Too much to drink, a jealous moment, a stupid impulse, and someone is dead. Perhaps the stolen gun, the divorce, the sex rumors are just coincidence. I would say there is a better than 50-50 chance you are correct.

Hi, PrairieWind, it's possible that Ms. Lopez is somehow involved in the sex trade. To date, we haven't heard of any job or military family connection. And it's certainly possible that Staff Sergeant Perez, apparently a boyfriend or longtime associate, helped her dispose of the body. But as of now, it does seem wise to assume that sex slave rumors about Ms. Killgore were what the prosecutor was referring to when he spoke of media misinformation.

It seems that my "possible" about Lopez and Perez widely understates the reality. This is from a San Diego news site:

He is also married. During his arraignment Wednesday on the weapons charges, a court official called out his wife’s name to the crowd, but no one answered. Attempts to reach her by phone were unsuccessful.
Perez does have a girlfriend — Lopez’s 36-year-old female roommate who owns the one-story house in which they have all lived in at one time.
Authorities have not implicated her in the investigation, and when a reporter reached her on a cellphone she didn’t want to talk about the case.
An online profile on a sadomasochistic and bondage website revealed that she and Perez are deeply involved in the alternative sexual lifestyle.

I'm gonna go with yes.

I've had a bit if experience on the outskirts of the bdsm lifestyle and I've found the women are usually more into violence then the men. Who knows what crazy dynamic they had going on...it rarely ends in murder, but never ends well. :(
 
Since Perez's gf was the alpha slave, maybe she ordered Lopez (#1 slave girl) to do away with Brittany...especially if Perez was showing a greater interest in her?

Hi, PinkiGreen; Lopez was the girlfriend and it was her birthday. It could be possible. Whether Ms. Killgore was conscious of that role or what it entailed might be the root of this tragic situation.
