I suppose the other individual noted could have red hair that was sun bleached being outside most of the time.

I'm not convinced. Bodies have been in rivers for a considerable amount of time and later found, notably by Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch using side scan sonar. Without going into the gory details, when a dam in involved, some pretty ugly things can happen to the remains.

If the lake were 100% ruled out, it would allow for a more detailed search of the surrounding land. I am completely sure Bryce intended to put the SUV in the lake, just not sure if he intended to be in it or not.

My opinion is that not all that could be done, has been done.

Trackergd.... Do you think he's in the lake?
Thanks

Yes, and sadly that is true is so many cases.
It's a dereliction of duty and also care by the police and rescue services, but also I think that budget and economic reasons have a lot to do with it. It's dreadful really, but at least we here at Websleuths never give up giving up!

I think it is possible. If that scenario could be ruled out, it would leave walk away to another life or expired in surrounding area. A more detailed search of the lake with available technology and surrounding area would go a long way in solving this case.

I just really want to know what happened to him. This case is super intriguing me to ever since I heard it. I honestly think he could be in the lake I hope he is found soon as a lot of the lakes in the US are the lowest they have been in years. Now to just find someone who is willing to search the lake.

Great thought! You are correct in that as well ...looks like the lowest it's been was last September, approx 1370 feet (only 5 years of data available). It's already lower than it was last year at this time as well and if it keeps heading this way it may be lower than last year. It's approx 1400 feet now. Also noted that the highest it's been was a little over 1500. I'm guessing a couple hundred feet would make a difference in a lot of areas in and around the lake.

So now for someone to actually take the time and search the lake who is credible and who the authorities will actually believe.

I was reading up---well really---I fell down the Bryce Laspisa rabbit hole yesterday. I have followed his case for some time now. I am of the belief that Bryce is still with us. I think he intentionally dropped out of sight. If he had committed suicide or was killed post crash I believe his remains would have been found already.
And didn't the police---at some point--say he was voluntarily missing? I had read that somewhere a while back.
If I am wrong I apologize in advance. Thanks

Steve Gregory on talk radio station KFI AM 640 in Los Angeles is focusing on this case on Saturday (August 20th) from 8am - 10pm (Pacific). It's on his show called "Unsolved with Steve Gregory". If you are not in Southern CA to get KFI on your radio, KFI can be found online and thru the I Heart Media app. If you miss it, I believe you can find it as a podcast after it airs to listen to later. Steve has been promoting this episode today about Bryce, the case, current interviews with others, and said new updated information that has never been released will be discussed. Thought others may be interested in listening.

Well - hopefully you will make it easier for us not so tech savvy - a link to the podcast after it is done! :D and TIA!

So much information about this case is online for sure. I was on this one from near the beginning one of the first missing persons I followed religiously. It is one of those where it should be obvious where he is or what happened to him and if we could just find that one connection... That makes this case alluring.

This case led me to research more into the thoughts and feelings of family members in these cases and it became apparent to me that lack of closure here is really a result of those involved using unhelpful strategies to deal with the illogical nature of the problem. That is not a criticism; Elucidating that a strategy is unhelpful is different from blame. Pointing out problems need not be vindictive.

The devil is in the details of the conversations that took place between an irrational chemically altered Bryce and his mother during his trip down I-5. The series of phone calls and the welfare check is what led to whatever happened be it death or voluntary disappearance.

The strategies, or mental crutches here that were used (again not criticism) forwent ruling out some of the common statistically likely causes early on (drug use, his former connections/criminality in Chicago, the testimony of the friends at the college about his drug use and mental state) in exchange for the less likely explanation that he was in a "fugue state" at the time.

That strategy was wise in that it garnered significant interest in the case and people on the lookout for Bryce, but considering the case is no closer to being solved today than on day one, precluded more realistic explanations for the events.

TL:DR = Look at the series of events and calls between when he left college and headed out down I-5 and ended up in Buttonwillow and ultimately Castaic.

Excellent post. I still believe he is in the reservoir, just missed. If folks don't believe that's possible, take a look at the Kiely Rodni case.

Amateur opinion and speculation

Oh my, that's a deep lake!

That's even beyond technical diving depths.

You'd have to get an ROV submersible or sonar capable of searching at hose depths. Maybe the NOAC has something.

But at those depths, to find a body/skeleton would be difficult, if not impossible.

It's difficult enough finding a car in 12ft of water.
