Do we know for sure NM brought the knife? I have been waiting to hear if that is true. Many keep one in their car.
Description of knife.

Khazar Momeni's brother Nima, 38, pleaded not guilty to stabbing the Cash App founder, 43, in the heart with a four-inch black blade kitchen knife.

I wonder why NM's mother needs an attorney. Also, surprised to see that the sister and her husband both are being represented by the same attorneys (if they are).

And wonder who is footing the bill for all the family attorneys, so far one for NM, one for the mother, and one or two for KM and DE. JMO, that DE is footing the bill. At least for now . . .
Are those two attorneys with them?

I guess I assumed he brought it because of reports of a kitchen knife being found at the scene. I personally have never known, or heard, of anyone keeping a kitchen knife in their car but maybe it is something people do.

People do. We don't know what type of kitchen knife, but in our own set of knives, we have one that's not dissimilar to the one I carry in my car (which has a hilt, to protect me if I ever use it - which I've only done while camping, and only on unwanted plant matter trapped in the running board area of my vehicle).

However, we do have "extra" knives that we rarely use (as do many people) and in SF/Bay Area, many, many people carry something in their cars as protection. I lived there for 15 years. I went through training and carried mace after the first 5 years (there were four murders on my university campus in my freshman year and one in my sophomore year; the Zodiac and the Zebra were active; the Santa Cruz serial killers (3 of them? 4?) were active, as was the Co-Ed Killer of Marin County. Stupidly, I thought I would have "protection" (looking back, it was more about making myself feel safe than being safe).

Before I got the mace permit, I wandered all over with no self-defense system (and was physically assaulted twice - painful, but not requiring any kind of medical treatment). I knew my pocket knife was useless as self-defense. The knife drawn by an apparently mentally ill man on my current campus 3 weeks ago was a kitchen knife that he carried around.

My immediate assumption was that NM took the knife from his sister's kitchen, but then I realized that was just a big assumption on my part. When I lived in a co-op house with a co-op kitchen, knives disappeared all the time. The guy in the room next to mine carried a very handsome kitchen knife (bigger than a paring knife, not sure what it's called) that he took from his mom's kitchen. So yeah, it's done. And once I thought about that, I realized we didn't know (and may never know) where the knife came from. There are kitchen knives sold separately at nearly every drug or grocery store in the Bay Area and there's one style that has a kind of hilt built in - I have two of them, and always have it in my camping kit in the car (which stays in the car because I've been stranded away from home several times by earthquake, fire and flood). Mine has a 4" blade. I realized we don't even know what the size of the knife was - but I'm guessing it wasn't too long, as Mr. Lee survived for several minutes. No mention was made of defensive wounds on him, so I assume he got of the car quickly.

IMO. I was picturing a steak knife, honestly, until I thought about it. And it could have been. And I was picturing evil pre-meditation on the part of the suspect, but that was me jumping to conclusions. Entirely possible some words were said inside the car that made NM want to reach for his knife, which he did. OTOH, if that knife is one of a set from the sister's house or otherwise is shown to come from her apartment, then I'm back to my original suspicions.

Just trying to be fair, for the time being.

IMO.

NM may have been jealous of his sister's relationship with BL, but perhaps with any woman. NM possibly insecure and jealous of BL and his success.
Possibly.

There could be other motives as well, perhaps including a paternalistic:

- "We both enjoy certain lifestyles. But..... dont bring my sister into those life styles- find somebody else."

Brothers in all cultures and in all religions can be protective of sisters. Sometimes that protective instinct is valid, some times its paternalistic, and sometimes its blatantly hypocritical- but it still exists.

In short, I wonder if the suspect was operating on "Whats good for the goose, is not always good for the gander" mode?

The previously posted WSJ article referenced an attorney named Douglas Horngrad in relation to sister’s husband but no other context.

Article references DNA on recovered knife.

Thank you. Not only was NM's DNA "all over the handle," but it DOES confirm that it matches a set of knives found in the sister's kitchen! That's the piece of the puzzle I hadn't seen.

Thank you, thank you!

They were connected in at least a few ways. Bob reportedly dated a woman who previously dated NM. Bob reportedly was “casually sleeping with” KM. And Bob and NM encountered each other through shared community and events.

Jenkins said the alleged murder weapon, a large kitchen knife, had been taken from Elyassnia’s apartment before it was found by police at the crime scene. Prosecutors said DNA from blood on the blade matched Lee, and DNA from the handle matched Momeni.

Krista Lee was in the courtroom Thursday when her ex-husband’s suspected killer pleaded not guilty. Bob Lee’s ex-wife and teenaged daughters plan to attend all of Momeni’s court appearances as they wait for justice, the district attorney said.

Elyssania and her husband, a prominent plastic surgeon, supported her brother during his April 14 court appearance by making “heart hands” in the courtroom. Elyssania returned to the courtroom gallery on Thursday, once again wearing dark sunglasses indoors.

Canny previously told News Nation, “There is a huge backstory to this. More will be revealed later. Who would like to see their sister, who they are super protective of, potentially be drugged? Nobody. Any good brother would be upset about it.”

District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said, “Regardless of whether somebody has, or has not done drugs, that does not give someone a license to kill them.” Jenkins said a tactic often used by defense attorneys is to smear a homicide victim’s character.

Momeni is the sole suspect in the Bob Lee murder case.

Canny said Momeni was with Lee the night he died. But Lee’s death was not a premeditated murder, she added. The incident was “a cross between self-defense and accident. There was no premeditation, deliberation, absolutely not,” Canny told reporters Thursday.

Not arguing with you, but would love to know the current definition of "casually sleeping with" vs. "dating."

I am confuse in the 21st C.

I didn’t think you were arguing.

The quote is from this article: https://archive.ph/2023.05.16-22502...ng-sex-drugs-lifestyle-san-francisco-5a7da970

I have no inside info and don’t know these people. But my interpretation of “casual” is that it usually means uncommitted, and dating usually means intentionally going on dates, sometimes with hopes of relationship escalation. JMO.

The defendant's attorney is bugging me big time. I get it is her job to defend her client but she doesn't have to be running her mouth to the press. The sister is a grown adult, a married woman, I don't think anyone was forcing her into the decisions she was making. By her text to Bob Lee she knew her brother did something and she expressed love towards Bob. The only self defense was probably Bob Lee trying to defend against the knife. Instead of taking responsibility for his actions it sounds like NM is going to try and trash his supposed friend's reputation, further injuring his grieving family, all while his mom and sister are refusing to speak to law enforcement, which to me means they are hiding the truth. That family just comes off like real aholes, all this is imo.

The defendant's attorney is trying this case in the media, because she has nothing for the courtroom. I guess she hopes to taint the jury pool.

I think NM epected to be out on bail tonight and that he and his mother and sister were surprised that did not happen. Maybe his lawyer isn't all they thought she would be.

I agree with you about the family. My opinion only, too.

Wonder where the defendant's brother in law was today.
