A group of volunteers made the discovery around 2 p.m. Saturday in the Spenceville Wildlife Area in Nevada County, approximately 30 miles north of the Thunder Valley Casino near Lincoln, where Wilson was last seen October 5, according to Placer County Sheriff's Lt. George Malim.

Searchers found a white plastic bag described by Malim as what appeared to be a "bondage kit" in the middle of an open field. Inside the bag, volunteers found rope, tape, a ball gag and traces of human hair. Malim characterized the find as highly unusual for the remote wilderness area.

Malim said investigators have no indication that the bag has any connection to Wilson's disappearance, but the evidence will be fully examined by forensic experts for further information.

Malim also said investigators will concentrate their efforts Sunday on a further search of the immediate area for any other possible clues.

Detectives are especially interested in the hair. The want to see if the color matches Wilson's hair color and if so, the hair will be sent a laboratory for DNA testing to determine if it is a match.

Debbie Boyd, the mother of Wilson, told News10 she saw the contents of the bag and said the hair was similar in color and length to her daughter's. She also said there was a blindfold among the contents.

I know this area of Spenceville Rd. , and it would be a very odd place for this stuff to end up. It is far away from the casino, like maybe 1/2 hour or more. I guess it would be a good place to dispose of things though, being that it is not on route to his home. Also worth noting is that it is in Yuba County, so they went out of the original search range, which is good. I really hope it's related so they can hopefully recover her.

I also have not heard another thing about him being in a car accident with those two women. Maybe it was someone else. I was busy in the kitchen, so maybe I heard wrong. :waitasec:

After initially pushing for a speedy trial, lawyers for accused murderer Mario Garcia this afternoon asked to delay his preliminary hearing, which was scheduled to start Tuesday.

Garcia's attorney, Ron Peters, said his office is still waiting for copies of discovery from prosecutors and wouldn't be prepared for the hearing for two weeks. He did not blame the district attorney's office and said both sides are waiting for analysis of evidence.

~snip~

A trial setting hearing was set for November 28, and the preliminary hearing which will determine if there is enough evidence for a trial will likely take place later that week.

I WAS going to go to the hearing on Tuesday... but like we just found out that hearing was on Monday... so I screwed up again!! LOL! I don't think I'll attend the Nov. 28th hearing, but WILL go to the prelim - as that is where they (DA) will be showing what evidence they have to continue with trial. So I'll do that one! I'll take notes and report back here! Please keep an eye out for that prelim hearing date!! The article does say... "later that week" So I'll let my manager know that I'll be taking a day or so off!

From an article in the Auburn Journal:

Boyfriend speaks out in missing woman case:

Daniel Burlando, 30, of Sacramento, has kept a low profile since Wilson's Oct. 5 disappearance and has not particpated in any of the numerous searches for Wilson.
...Just days before Wilson disappeared, she and Burlando enjoyed a weekend getaway at South Lake Tahoe celebrating their one-year anniversary. Sadly, it was to be their last. "I believe she was killed," Burlando said.
Garcia's attorneys, Ron Peters and David Dratman have said that their client isn't the person who killed Wilson, but instead say investigators shoudl focus their attention on Burlando. Prosecutors disagree. "Mr. Burlando has been very cooperative and is not a suspect..." Investigators have spoken to Burlando numerous times and have ruled him out as a suspect. The night of Wilson's disappearance Burlando said he was having dinner with his father, who had returned from being out of the country fo a month. Officials have said that receipts and witnesses have confirmed Burlando's whereabouts the night of Wilson's disappearance.
Some have questioned whether Wilson and Garcia had a relationship. Officials said there is no indication that Wilson and Garcia knew each other prior to the night of Oct. 5. "A man and woman walking together -- some have speculated, 'what was she doing with him?'" Burlando said. "I know her very well. There was nothing romantic between them."
Burlando said it has been established that Wilson borrowed money from Garcia and they may have developed a friendship while playing cards at the casino. Officials declined to discuss whether Garcia gave Wilson any money. It isn't like Wilson to borrow money from someone she doesn't know, officials said. "She's been to the casino before,m but I'm not sure if she usually goes alone," said Lt. George Malin.
Attorneys for the defense hae said Wilson and Burlando have a history of domestic violence and both were arrested March 24 for domestic violence and that Burlando reportedly had recent bruises on him when interviewed by police. Burlando contends this is not the case......
Searchers did find a plastic bag containing human hair, tape,m rope and a "bondage ball" that has been sent to the Dept of Justice crime lab in Sacramento for fingerprint and DNA testing. Results are expected to be returned in the next few weeks. At this point there is no indication that the "bondage kit" found at the Spenceville Wildlife Area is related to Wilson's disappearance.
DNA results confirm that at least one of two hairs taken from Garcia's white Toyota Camry belonged to Wilson.
Additionally, Garcia reportedly went to a UC Davis Medical building on Bell Road for medical treatment the day after Wilson's disappearance. he was reportedly treated for scratches and claw marks on his arms, as well as a black eye, officials said.
Garcia remains in Placer County Jail on $3 million bail. He is scheduled to return to Placer County Superior Court at 1pm in Dept 3, Nov. 28 for further proceedings.

and there you go! I'll definitely be there on Nov. 28th at 1pm - I'll take a half day off! And then I also heard that the prelim hearing should start that same week. I'm going to try and go to that one - since that will be the one where they (DA) will show the evidence against him! I'm going to talk with a few of my co-workers here, and see if I can't "borrow" one of their laptops, so I report DIRECTLY to you all!! LOL! :D

Wonderful Niner! I'll think about making it to the prelim also :) No laptop or blackberry but I got pen and paper ;)

Hey!! That's sound cool!! Hope to see you there Chico! :woohoo:

here's a "Perspective" by Jim Ruffalo in the Auburn Journal this past Sunday:

Could it be a case of "ahir today, gone tomorrow" for mario Flavio Garcia, the North Auburn man accused of murdering 27-year-old Christie Wilson?
While Wilson remains missing, more and more evidence piles up, and not much of it looks good for the suspect. The Journal earlier enumerated some of the particulars--including two hairs reportedly found in Garcia's vehicle. Both those hairs are said to have been traced back to the victim.
Well, we've now learned that two more hairs have been shipped off to a criminal-evidence lab at Chico. Our sources say one of the hairs was allegedly found in yet another part of the suspect's vehilce, while the other was reportedly discovered in the garage of his residence.
The preliminary test of thsoe hairs will be microscopic to see if there's enough follicle for modern DNA tests, but if not, they'll be shipped off to the FBI facility at Quantico, Va. for traditional mitochondrial DNA testing.
Meanwhile, we're told that hair reportedly found when that so-called bondage kit was discovered is of a similar color as Wilson's, so DNA test results there could be vital.

That's all I've seen updated in my paper! Still going to the 28th hearing at 1pm - in the Old Town CourtHouse - Dept 3 - that's for you Chico.... just in case you can make it on Monday also!!!

I wonder what this guy did with Christie? It has to be so frustrating for her dad...his being a detective and unable to find her. I just don't understand how all of these missing people can just vanish into thin air without a trace.

Once this guy is convicted I hope that he will tell his attorney or someone what he did with Christie. Maybe they should let her dad into his cell for a little visit. The guards could all get real busy.

The man accused of killing Sacramento woman Christie Wilson is expected back in court today so a date for his preliminary hearing can be selected.

Mario Garcia, 53, was arrested October 28 on suspicion of murder. The hearing will determine whether there is enough evidence for a trial.

Looking forward to Niner's experience in court today :) Keeping my fingers crossed the prelim will be held at the end of the week....of any week.

Okay, two hairs of Christie's were found in Garcia's car. Plus, the Auburn Journal article says, "...Garcia reportedly went to a UC Davis Medical building on Bell Road for medical treatment the day after Wilson's disappearance. He was reportedly treated for scratches and claw marks on his arms, as well as a black eye, officials said."

I'd say that Christie at least put up a fight for her life, so much so, that this murderous idiot went to a hospital for treatment.

Oh Chico... sorry to disappoint you... but I didn't go to court today... :(
I had to work!! :hand: BUT!! I will be there for the prelim hearing. Haven't heard anything 'yet' when this is... but I'm sure it will be in the paper at least by tomorrow! I'll keep you updated Chico (and others interested!) in when it is!

I WILL definitely be there!!

As Marisa says - the prelim hearing is tomorrow morning at 8:30am in Dept 2 - at the Old Town Courthouse.

Chico!!! Are you going to go?? I'll be there!! :)

ooohhh... sorry to hear that chico!! Was looking forward to meeting you! :D oh well! I'll try & keep good notes - and will report here after the hearing tomorrow!

I'm so happy your going niner!!! Can't wait to read about it!!

P.S. thanks for going!!! :)
