Okay - just got into work from the prelim hearing - unfortunately I only stayed for the prosecutors questions, had a 11am morning recese and had to leave - but here is what I captured from this morning...

sitting outside the court room - got there about 8:20am - walking thru the parking lot - saw 2 news trucks - channel 10 & 3; outside the court room... waiting... 8 to 10 police men milling around.
2 journalist from the Auburn Journal - 1 news guy that looked familiar - but don't know what station he is from.
Mom and step dad arrived - now 8:35am still waiting to get into the courtroom...
Almost 9am... still waiting... don't see Garcia's wife - sat next to 4 KTVU reporters - din't over hear anything re case!! LOL!
9:05am - overheard reporter say Garcia hasn't been brought over jet from jail...
9:30am still waiting...
chatted with a Tawna of channel 3 news - his wife is Asian - but a no show! Hasn't been to any of the hearings as far as she knows...

finally at 9:45am we are let in...
Vicky, a sketch artist is in courtroom - same one who was at Scott Peterson's trial...
starting...
had a discussion of Prop 115 - re Mr/Mrs Boyd will testify through someone else (from what I gather!) - and defense trying to get parents excluded from prelim hearing as they WILL be witnesses (according to him!).
Defense has not served subpeonas on parents - or the prosecutors... (trying to read my notes here!!) anyway.. much discussion, about 15 minutes worth of whether to let parents stay...

Judge not convinced to exclude family members from prelim...

Will refer to Chritie as "alleged victim"

Detective arrived at Dan's residence about 9:05pm and a friend of Dan's came over. Both gambled frequently; go together or and alone quite regularly.

Friend stayed until about 11pm.

Received call from Christie about 22:28 10/4 - told him was at casino; near the restrooms; up $600 and was leaving shortly... he tended to nag her about her gambling.
50/50 chance of her coming home (usually) said by boyfriend

attempted to call her thru the nite; friend attempts to call her also, no answer... (friend called so Christie would not know it was boyfriend, as she had caller id.)

went to bed about 1:30am; woke at 8:30am and was surprised she was not there; attempted to call her on cell phone and about 30+ times during the day.

*showed picture of Mario - recognized him as playing cards with her.
*Ms Lee described - very friendly, sitting close to each other; felt they were close friends; Christie called him "romeo" per blackjack dealer - thought that was his name...
indicated Christe was winning / 1 hour later losing money / 3rd relief - lost ALL money and borrowing $$ from Mario. $100 to $300 through course of evening; didn't see being paid back.

Another dealer Miss Irene Lu - said/observations:
looked like very close friends; more close as evening wore on; she kissed him on cheek and lips; knew his name either from news or that nite - she called him Mario several times that nite (per blackjack dealer)

Christi'es demeanor changed thru out evening:
1st winning, happy, friendly
then, very upset about losing $$, verbally talking nasty (? didn't catch the word) to dealers; felt they knew each other

Dealer overhears: Christie explained to Mario she had a new job; excited about this/ Mario owns own business; observed lending $$. Also Christie asked a white, ~ 45 yrs old male for some $$ ($100); Mario said to him, she would repay him; overheard relationship with boyfriend; waking in moring and he had bruised her - Christie was showing her bruises off to others; about fight with boyfriend that morning; dealer said really couldn't 'see' any bruising on her.

Mario asked Christie to leave with him, she wanted to stay and play; substanial amount of wine - both drinking - flirting more obvious as night wore on...

Sorry, I didn't get to stay for the cross examination!! But work calls!! I'll see if I can get into another session later this week or.... not...!!

Hope this helps!!

Helps tons, Niner. Thank you so much for your hard work. It also explains the video we saw with the odd behavior when they were walking out of the casino.

Wow! Good job Niner!

Interesting little tidbits that I can see the defense using.....interesting indeed! Oh how I pray that Christie will be found!!!

Thanks! :blushing:

yes - it does explain 'some' of the interesting tidbits that we've been hearing about - especially that video of them walking out of the casino...

Hope you have SUCCESS on Saturday, chico!!

Detective Don Murchison said a dealer he interviewed at Thunder Valley Casino told him Wilson and Garcia gambled together on October 4, the night before she disappeared. The dealer said the two were kissing at times, and she thought they knew each other well. Wilson borrowed between $150 and $300 from Garcia, according to the dealer. Garcia bought a bottle of wine and shared it with Wilson, but the dealer said the wine did not appear to affect Wilson's faculties. The dealer also said Garcia asked Wilson several times if she wanted to leave but Wilson said no. At one point, she showed bruises on her arm to Garcia she said she'd gotten from her boyfriend that morning.

According to Murchison, the dealer said Wilson initially was winning and seemed happy, but then she went on a losing streak and began smoking and cursing.

Niner, thanx for the info!!
Today's events give me a whole new outlook on things.

After reading Niner's notes, I think Christie had a gambling habit and used
her sexuality as a means to fund it. She seems to have had a pattern of meeting men in casinos and asking them for $$. I don't do the casino circuit, but it seems odd to ask a complete stranger to "borrow" money. How/when/where are you going to pay it back if you don't even know them? Does "the check is in the mail" line still work?? Why would a stranger be willing to loan $ out unless they were hoping to be repaid the same night in some way other than $.

She met her boyfriend that way, she asked a "45 yr old man" for money the night she disappeared plus she borrowed that $ from Garcia.

One of the witnesses stated that Garcia vouched for Christie when she asked the other man to borrow $. Garcia supposedly told the other man that Christie would pay him back. That leads me to believe that Garcia was speaking from experience and had dealt with Christie in the past.

I think she may have been more familiar with Garcia than we first thought. Her boyfriend said they frequented local casinos. Christie and Garcia were seen kissing, etc... way too familiar for a first meeting IMO. I wonder if they planned to meet there with Christie's intentions being just to gamble and knowing that if she flirted, kissed him, etc...she could get $ from Garcia if she ran low. I think Garcia expected her to want to borrow $ and he planned on a little late night tryst so Christie could "pay" her debt.

Now the video footage makes more sense to me. He was thinking he was going to 'get lucky' but he had served his purpose and Christie wasn't interested in being intimate with him. He tried to cozy up with her as they walked out and she was playfully (but with real intent) pushing him away.

I think he was angry at her for getting money from him and (in his eyes) "leading him on".

Her poor parents and boyfriend have to hear all that about her. Hopefiully Garcia's wife heard all that in court and will get pissed off enough to help LE.

The man accused of murdering 27-year-old Christie Wilson was identified because he used a players card at the casino where the two gambled the night she disappeared, an investigator testified during a preliminary hearing this afternoon.

Mario Garcia and Wilson both used their cards on October 4. That enabled investigators to track their activities at the Thunder Valley Casino that night.

Casinos issue the cards to customers to track the amount they play so they can receive incentives. By looking at surveillance cameras and then at the cards, investigators knew the name of the man Wilson gambled with, according to testimony this afternoon.

This scenerio is certainly possible. I sure don't blame her for what happened to her. I used to put myself in some pretty risky situations when I was younger, and I am lucky nothing happened to me.

When I watched the video, it looked like the guy had his arm wrapped in hers. She appeared to pull away from him (like she didn't want to be that close). Then, it appeared that she was kiddingly bumping into him and he was kiddingly pushing her away. She did appear as if she was drinking but not falling down drunk...
The above 10/26 comments were my thoughts upon watching the video.

After reading Niner's notes as well as the subsequent articles containing testimony at the preliminary hearing, I am going to make some additional speculation.

Garcia bought a bottle of wine. I feel certain that he was hoping to get Christie tipsy enough to have his way with her.

He may have even talked her into getting into his car just to give him a goodnight kiss. Once she was in the car, he drove her somewhere. She could have resisted his advances, and that's when he raped her and murdered her.

Another poster was perplexed about asking strangers for money. I would never do that, either. I also wouldn't expect somebody to fork over any money, much less hundreds of dollars. I know that I wouldn't lend anyone that I didn't know very well any money at all.

I think that Christie must have done this on a regular basis and been successful at it else she wouldn't have continued to ask for "loans."

I have a feeling that Christie just met Garcia, and the alcohol made her friendlier (unless that was just her mode of operation). Garcia could have seen her at the casino before or targeted her that evening since she was attractive and alone.

Of course, one card dealer said that Christie was calling him "Romeo." He either was making passes at her all evening or she did know his reputation from previous encounters...

I think that this was a crime of opportunity for Garcia.

In reaction to what she heard in court, Debbie Boyd said outside the courtroom that nothing justifies murder.

"I don't care what Christy did, it doesn't justify Garcia's actions," Boyd said. "Nothing justifies taking somebody and murdering them and stuffing them in the trunk."

DNA results confirm that two hairs taken from Garcia's white Toyota Camry belonged to Wilson.

Additionally, video surveillance tapes shown in court Wednesday show Wilson leaving the casino and although the footage is grainy, Wilson can be seen at Garcia's car.

Tapes collected from the casino give a timeline of the movement of Garcia's car. The car is seen leaving a parking spot in the F lot around 1:19 a.m. Oct. 4. However, how many people are in the car cannot be determined.

Det. Mike Davis, of the Placer County Sheriff's Department, testified that the car seen on the videos matches Garcia's Toyota Camry, which did not have license plates and sported a spoiler in the rear.

"At 1:20 a.m. the video shows Garcia's vehicle turning right onto Athens Road," Davis said. "(That) takes you to a rural area, Sacramento or Roseville and a dump."

If Garcia had been heading to his Auburn home he would have most likely turned left onto Athens Road toward Industrial Avenue and Highway 65, officials said.

A Placer County Sheriff's Department evidence technician testified Thursday that fingerprints and a hair found lodged in suspect Mario Garcia's car door prove murder victim Christie Wilson was in the car before she died.

Garcia, 53, is charged with murder in connection with Wilson's disappearance last October after the woman was last seen with Garcia on Thunder Valley Casino surveillance video.

During the second day of testimony in Garcia's preliminary hearing, technician Tammy Harris recounted for Placer Superior Court Judge Larry D. Gaddis how she examined Garcia's white Toyota Camry. Harris testified to finding Wilson's fingerprints in the vehicle as well as a hair which belonged to Wilson. Harris said the hair, with the follicle intact, was found lodged in the door handle of the front passenger door.

Can't on a Wednesday :( So....I'm gonna go to the search on Saturday...

Volunteers will conduct a search this weekend and encourage anyone interested in helping with the search meet at the Thunder Valley Casino's employee parking lot at 9 a.m.

"Judge Francis Kearney opened five envelopes containing Garcia's telephone records from SBC, Placer High School, U.C. Davis Medical Center, Sierra College and Addison Avenue Credit Union."

I am wondering about this quote from the above article. ARe these the places his cell phone was used? I wonder what he was doing at Sierra College, it was a weekend, right? There would be no one there and there is a wooded area there and a trail, and a body of water. I'm not sure how accessible the body of water is, but I will check next week. I wonder if they have looked there.

Harris said the hair, with the follicle intact, was found lodged in the stationary portion of door handle on the front passenger door.

Wilson family members feel the evidence, particularly the circumstances surrounding that hair, offers chilling insight into how Wilson may have died.

"It only occurs one way. Somebody's head got slammed," Pat Boyd, Wilson's stepfather, said. "That's plain and simple. It's not a fall off. It's stuck in there. Her head got slammed in the side of that car."

Gardenmom, I didn't mean to sound as though I blame Christie for her murder. There is never a justifiable reason for a crime against another human being. However, I do feel that her actions contributed to her fate and that bothers me. She was "playing him" to get what she wanted-$$$. And he wasn't letting her off the hook that easy.

In this day and age, a 27 year old woman knows the risks involved when she accepts money and drinks from a man she hardly knows and flirts with him, kisses him, calls him "Romeo", which to most would suggest a romantic term of endearment. She must have known this was giving him the wrong idea.

It shouldn't be that way, but it is. You shouldn't have to always be on guard, but unfortunately, that's the way of the world nowadays and I don't believe that Christie was naive about that.

He had asked her to leave with him at one point and she said no. If only she would've stuck to her guns or let security know he was making her uncomfortable, requested an escort to her car...anything except leaving with him!!!

It's sad that Christie was gambling, literally, with her life that night-and she lost. And it is heartbreaking.

I may not be saying what is politically correct, IMHO, I am saying what is true.

A dealer at the casino also said that at one point in the night, Garcia told Wilson, "Come to my place and I'll take care of you."

It was also revealed in court that in the months prior to her disappearance, Wilson tried to commit suicide and was kicked out of her parent's home.
