Person of Interest in Wilson Case Has Criminal History
The man considered by police to be a "person of interest" in the disappearance of a 27-year-old Sacramento woman
was arrested in 1979 and charged with kidnapping and rape in Alameda County. That information uncovered by News10 has been confirmed by Placer County Sheriff's investigators.
When the case was settled in 1981, Mario Flavio Garcia, 53, was convicted of felony assault with a deadly weapon. The kidnapping and rape charges were dismissed. Garcia was sentenced to 18 months probation on the assault charge.

Today, News10 talked to several of Garcia's neighbors. Although no one would appear on camera, opinions varied. One neighbor said he was friendly, a family man and good with computers. Others, however, recounted allegations of harassment, threats, and a punching incident that resulted in a restraining order being issued against Garcia. Some of the problems, say neighbors, were the result of Garcia's attempts to make changes to neighborhood roads. Public works officials told News10 Garcia always was professional in his dealings with them.

During a news conference this afternoon,
Placer County Sheriff's Department spokesman Lt. George Malim described three other people seen playing at the casino with Garcia and Wilson shortly before Wilson's disappearance. Investigators want to interview them to see if they have more information about the conversations Wilson and Garcia had that night.
One customer was an Asian woman in her early to mid-30s who sat down at the table at about 10:20 p.m. on October 4. She was wearing a dark top.
The second customer was a white man in his mid to late 40s who bought a $180 bottle of wine and shared it with others at the table.
The third customer was a black man in his mid-30s wearing a royal blue shirt.
