I can't link to the article from the Auburn (CA) Journal because it is from a subscription site, and the site also will not let me put the article in pdf format. But in the Oct. 31, 1979 Auburn Journal, there is an article that states JJD Jr. had a three-day jury trial and was convicted of misdemeanor shoplifting. He denied he was trying to shoplift.

Hope that helps.

I believe that the newspaper clipping was posted earlier in the thread.
Since it's not typed out I'm not finding it with a search.

considering she went on to not only marry him but have his children after the stealing dismissal from the force tells me she is either in denial or totally screwed up in the head.
do we know her name?
surely there is images of her? we have images of bonnie which likely isnt really fair.
she removed herself from the monster completely.
eta
ive researched her easily.there is plenty msm info on her why aren't we talking about her???
she was an enabler. she is part of the equation like it or not.

I'm not sure that SH is an enabler in any way at all.

I am curious as to why her daughters never knew that their father was a former police officer. JMO

Yes, he did. Which seems crazy if he didn't want to draw attention to himself....

I have been thinking about this all day and it's simply incomprehensible to me.

Most of us have a situation we can relate this to on a much, much smaller scale.
Spouse having an affair, parent having an affair, finding out a family member was a child molester.

You replay it in your head and it's totally torturous: "Did he visit his mistress the day our child was born? The day my father died? When he spoke at my mom's funeral, was he even sincere? What about when our child got married? Graduated college? Was he seeing the mistress during those events too? All these events that I thought meant something.... did any of them matter to him, at all? Was our entire marriage a lie?"

Over and over. Different events in your life. You replay them over and over and over in your head.
You always wonder and it's a new shock each time you think of something else.
You never look at any of them the same way again, they are forever tainted.

The feelings of betrayal, callousness, deception, fraud and even guilt you feel is overpowering.
You wonder how you could be so naive or stupid to not have seen the signs they were cheating.
Now... I try to imagine that rather than cheating on her, he was out raping and murdering?

I mean I'm glad that they aren't happily married but it's still got to be an unbelievable shock.
I hope his daughters/grandchildren had some idea that their dad/grandpa was not a great man.
If they still saw him as their hero this is really going to hit them hard. Wow. Incomprehensible. :gaah:

from what I can tell she isn't meek and mild.
according to neighbours "who dont want to be named" she gave him verbally as good as he her.
out on the street for everyone to hear and see.
she must have had a restraining order on him as he never stepped foot in her house according to neighbours.

toxic communication is very telling.
she dispises him.
hope she spills the beans, being a lawyer she is likely to stay quiet for simple self preservation. maybe they will cut her a deal to get her talking.

Actually, the VR crimes began in Sept. '73 and GSK married in Nov '73, if I'm reading the timeline correctly. Who knows, though, when they actually physically began living together...maybe it was before marriage.
He began his job of 27 years with the grocery chain the same year (91) he separated from his wife. I wonder he went on any medication such as anti-anxiety.

So his crimes began the year he became a cop and got married. He really abused the trust of the community. Almost like he became a cop to purposely be able to commit those crimes.
:cow:

Check out questerfiles article on The Majiorie murders. Looks like he slipped through then too. The suspect sketch is a dead ringer for him as a cop. Both suspects were cleared at the time even though some investigators had reservations about them being cleared. HMMMMMMM.
So yeah. Seems like he could have been nabbed, even before shoplifting the dog repellant, and hammer.
So twice he got away.
Seriously SMH.

Look at the headings at the top of Quester's site.

The first three are Bermuda Triangle, Bigfoot, UFO's.

The guy is a fringe-dwelling conspiracy theorist / whack-job! Not a reliable source of information! :)

The suspect sketch is a dead ringer for him as a cop.

This is actually a really useful example of how people (not talking about you in particular AgeofAquarius) find ''matches'' with sketches that are of totally innocent men..

Here is a quick summary for everyone who is seeing a "match" between a sketch of a man who was not the EAR who happened to pass by the scene of the Maggiore murders, and the photo of JJD with a mustache.

I totally get why people are still making this mistake btw - it has even been reprinted online by media outlets!!

1.) An 11 year old girl saw two men walking together, before the shooting
2.) She was interviewed three times and each time her descriptions changed
3.) Somehow she still picked out the mustachioed guy from photos (can't recall if they were yearbook photos or mugshots?? They were not showing her photos of local cops asking "is this the guy?")
4.) The mustachioed guy gave the police the name of his friend (the other guy in the ORIGINAL newspaper article.)
5.) They both freely admit to being in the area and hearing the gunshots
6.) Mustachioed guy even passes a polygraph
7.) Several other witnesses, who were not 11 years old and didn't keep changing their descriptions, saw what who we now know was Joseph James DeAngelo Jr - and he did not have a mustache at the time:

Look under the heading Witness #4 for where all this information came from.

just for everyones knowledge, because I keep reading he sprayed himself down with this stuff...dog repellant only works if you spray the dog in the face with it... spraying yourself would do no good unless the dog was right there at the immediate moment... that would be like spraying yourself down with pepper spray just incase you ,might run into a bad guy later on...

Actually on the late sixties / early seventies there was a very popular type of repellant used that worked very differently than pepper spray. It has keytones and is just sort of repulsive and most animals would just get confused and back off a bit. People would use it to keep animals from pawing, scratching and peeing on furniture w mixed results.
It’s not a strong stink that lingers, but it’s odd and very unpleasant.
A few different companies sold it- still do- mostly w names that are like Dog No or Off and pics of fleeing animals on the can. I do think pepper spray was just called pepper spray and not dog repellant, since pepper spray can be used on all sorts of animals and is different than what was sold as repellants then.

Looks like he (suspect) bought the house he is (was) living in now was purchased on April 11, 1980 for $77,000. Was this a break in the crime spree? Perhaps this is the gap from March 13, 1980 to August 19, 1980.

Preoccupied with his new home? Don't know...1981 was a very similar pattern in Feb and July....then nothing until 1986 based on the information we now have pieced together.
So he was moving into an area where he had already committed crimes. The gap may have coincided with him looking for a new area to commit crimes and it also coincided with the arrival of his first child and being sacked from the police force the previous year so no cover for being out at night anymore.

Yep. And some had round marks like hmmmm from a hammer? Maybe.
You mean "circular contusions" ? Yeah, a hammer or a punch or a kick or knee, bite, butt of a gun - many things could cause that depending on the size of the contusion. Would the diamond knot cause a circular contusion?

This is why I think he did this to cover another 'more distinctive' aroma that may have been more identifiable. Going outside often during the attacks sounds like a possible medical condition too perhaps?

(Just adding thoughts to my original post as I ran out of time to edit it)

He had lived in Auburn area prior to this move I believe. Then the crimes began in SoCal (Goleta, Irvine, Dana Point etc) in '79 so I wonder if he temporarily lived in Long Beach or Golden Grove till the purchase of the Citrus Heights house went thru' and then with the birth of his first child the crimes lessened considerably.

I do also wonder if he knew any of the murder victims or if they recognised him possibly?

:cow

The victim was a virgin. Despite being raped three times, the victim's hymen was reportedly still intact, which was a surprising find. Sacramento Medical Center staff said that it probably meant that the assailant was under-endowed, at least in terms of length.

http://www.coldcase-earons.com/10.php

Okay I'm refreshing my memory and finding things that are odd.
Also finding actual medical evidence supporting that "not well endowed" statement.
I found this tidbit to be quite interesting. I'm guessing he's extremely small if that's the case.
I mean tampons have caused tears to the hymen.... so wow.

Which brings up the question of why in the world he raped them at all?
Wouldn't he not want to reveal his small member?
Why would he walk around without pants on, if he was so small?

It just seems contrary to how I would think a man in that situation would behave.
So much about this is just WEIRD and not logical behavior.

Too bad she is not talking, though I understand why.

If you mean Bonnie as the " she", she has given a long interview to the U.K. Daily Mail in the past 3-4 days. Current residence and current photo and all.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...olden-State-Killers-love-Bonnie-revealed.html

This lady seems to be a very nice, lovely person. I'm sure she was paid for her interview but she didn't have to say a thing, could have remained an enigma for the most part.

One thing to keep in mind- If this was JJD posting about why they broke up, he could have lied to the max to make himself look good, as the entire post was aggrandizing the GSK's abilities, military history, relationships, everything.

I find the fact that someone named their dog "Worthless" to be the most absurd thing I've read in this thread.

Why would I care what my parents did before I was born?

I know my Grandpa used to castrate sheep with his teeth as a job.

RSBM

I find the dog's name hilarious. He obviously was a friendly useless watchdog.

The castrating sheep with teeth is pretty absurd too, mind. Did he get a knife on promotion?

It’s not actually an interview with Bonnie. They pulled (photos and comments) from her travel blog.

In terms of Bonnie and Sharon talking, I don’t really care whether they talk publicly, though I am curious. What really matters is that they talk to LE. Assuming Bonnie and Sharon have retained lawyers for themselves, they will be very cautious in what they say publicly.

eta: MOO

See, that, too, points to a police officer. It has long been a "life hack" from LE to civilians to put dishes or pots & pans in front of windows or doors with faulty locks as a temporary measure. I had an officer tell me to do this to ward against my landlord coming in with his key when I was there. When I saw that -- they HAVE to know that's a police idea. I know they tested the DNA of local police, but not surrounding counties.

Which reminds me -- I notice that he kept to smaller communities, where the LE would feel a degree in Criminal Justice was a big deal. (One CO mentioned this.) He avoided L.A. County. Because Los Angeles has REAL detectives and resources.

Thank you for the info.

I've used the stacked obstacles in an entryway as a precaution from a possible intruder, but I'd never thought of relating this to stacking dishes on a victim (nor did I consider this as a LE thing). This GSK "trick" has nagged at me for years!!

(Also, I've wondered how he made dime-size holes in glass windows. How many tools did this perp take to burglarize, rape and kill?!)

there was no shoplifting conviction, no charges were ever filed... GSK never showed up to the department hearing and he was fired but that's as far as it went. It was petty theft at best
Yes there was. There is an interview from his ex police chief boss discussing it and others have already stated he opted for a jury trial but lost. The interview has already been posted I think, but I'll see if I can link it again if you need to see it.

Without getting graphic, a hammer would leave a much different wound than a log. In most cases Hammer wounds are easy for medical examiner's to identify.

Absolutely. The pathologists who examined Peter Sutcliffe's victims between 1975 and 1981 had no problem identifying the types of hammers and other tools used in the killings.
