I just watched the episode. I got the feeling, towards the end, that there were "friends" who were not talking to LE. I think the detective said (paraphrase) something about the fact that whether Bear left willingly, or not, someone knows where he is. And he said it's just a matter of getting that person or persons comfortable enough to talk.

I think he was carried out in his bedding. :(

ETA - it was immediately a red flag to me when Bear's childhood friend was talking about Bear's generosity towards his friends and acquaintances. I think it can make one vulnerable to be so open about their money. I'm not blaming Bear AT ALL. I just think some of these kids were sketchy, and taking advantage of him. Heartbreaking.

LeLannie, his mother, seems to be a wonderful, loving, attentive parent. She seems to love him with all of her heart. I will keep her in my thoughts. I can tell she's in a lot of pain.

Suglo, I will let Bear's mother and family know that you are praying for them. I know she appreciates anyone that has spread the word about Bear disappearance. We know that someone knows something about the actual events that caused Bear to become missing. We pray that their heart is heavy with this information and they decide to call the ecpd. LeLanie wants to be ab,e to give her son a proper burial that he deserves.

DatelineFan. We agree somebody or somebodies knows what happened to Bear that night. . I may be watching to many crime stories on tv but it is never a good sign when the bedding goes missing the missing person. I agree with you about the bedding. Now days it seems like there are a lot of people looking for ways to take advantage of someone who has a heart and very vulnerable.

These are the days that I am guessing you really need to know full names and personal information of people that come into your house to visit. It is sad that this is the way we as human treat other humans.

LeLanie is all the things you described her to be and more. She and Bear were very close. Probably due to his illness. They spent so much time together. Plus she not only loved her son she liked him. And that was the same the other way around. Bear nit only loved his mother he liked her as well.

LeLanie misses Bear terribly. She is determined to find his body and give him a proper burial. Thank you for watching and expressing your thoughts.

mtnlites, let me say this first I love the kitty with the head phones on bouncing his head to the music. Made me smile.:)

going thru your points

1. Sadly true these days.
2. Your statement is true. people do change their mind. Even on things that they don't believe in. I am sorry to hear that you have a chronic illness. I hope your week gets better.
3. True nor do they take their bedding. (But in Bear's case he couldn't even attempt to carry anything cause he was using crutches because of the condition of his feet. He couldn't even take a step or two without those crutches).
4. I agree with this point.
5. Bear was rarely called Elijah. I bet there were a lot of his so called friends that didn't even know that Elijah was his first name. Bear was very needy at this point. A cult don't really want someone that is in such a terrible condition. Needing wound care, his insulin and a very picky eater. Well that is my thought. He wouldn't be any help to them unless he did pick up checks or use his bank account. Which has never happened.
6. LeLanies husband is has been grieving for his son all thru this tragedy. He is more of a behind the scenes type of person.
7. Suicide your statement obviously is straight from the heart and I agree with everything you said. I have seen it in my family and other families around me. Even tho personally I have never felt the need to go there. I am sorry that you have had that experience.I am proud of you for being able to speak about it. Sharing your experience may help someone to overcome the thought of ending their life. So thanks for sharing that.
8. Back to the fact that someone decided Bear had things that they wanted so this person decided to take it from Bear.

We don't believe Bear is alive either. We are praying the person/persons involved would come forth and let someone know where his body is so Bear's mother can give her son a proper burial.

I am sorry to hear that you have lost a child. It is just not right. I can not imagine the pain.

I know LeLanie appreciates anyone that has taking the time to watch the show Disappeared about her son Bear and for you to take the time to comment.

I'm just trying to think things through here, but does anyone know how the Casino stipend is treated legally? What happens to Bear's income if he is gone? Could this have any bearing on events, motives? To me that income source added and unusual dimension to the case.

way far fetched thought I have been having, perhaps I am just thinking like this because it brings some level of comfort to such a terribly sad story but...

perhaps he was just done. Done hurting, done with the medicines, the pain, the aches, the doctor visits, the lack of independence to do everything for himself, and maybe he asked someone to help him get somewhere where he could comfortably perish. In exchange, that person got the TV and the cash. Bear took the bedding to lay on and be comfortable as the end came...

Of course, this still means that someone knows - we all seem to agree that SOMEONE knows something - so it is just a matter of waiting. Waiting for someone to decide to break her or his silence. Waiting for Bear to be found. Just waiting now...

(and part of me even considered that maybe he found someone to take him somewhere to seek some new experimental treatment, in some other country perhaps. Payment for said travel to wherever was the TV, or the money maybe...)

Someone knows... Big hugs to Bear's family and community, and to anyone who has posted here in support. Can't even imagine...

He just took the bed sheet, not the blanket IIRC. To me, this means it was not for comfort or sleep. Typically, you would take the blanket (like if you were going to sleep on a friend's couch) and leave your fitted sheet. I think the sheet was taken because there was something on it, or it was used to remove bear's body from the home.

Ugh, you know how your mind just won't go where logic tells it to, sometimes... logic tells me absolutely, you are correct. Sadly...

snowleopard - I can tell you that all the monies that Bear would receive is put into his account.Starting from the day he went missing. Including bonuses and birthday money or whatever comes from the casino. That money can not be touched by anyone not even his mother. She has had to pay out of her own pocket for anything that Bear owed such as he had just bought a bed on a payment plan, water, gas and electric, trash, property taxes and even the the registrations on his vehicles. All on going.
When we find his body or enough time has passed to declare him legally dead I know mom still can not collect it. She has to go to the tribal yearly and show that all the money is still sitting in the account and no one has taken anything out. Then the Tribal members vote whether monthly payments will continue and deposited in Bear's bank account.
I agree never have seen any program that has had this kind of situation.

AzPistonsGirl I agree I am sure some people when ill get fed up and end their life. Just a sad situation. We need that one someone that knows what happened to come forth.

dulcinea your post makes sense it is this case doesn't make sense. The police interviewed the room mates and the hanger-oners. They did do the spraying of the luminol but only in Bear's room. (The uncommon room).
I have watched the show bunches of time. I am even in it and was there while taping was happening and there are some things I still have to think hard about. In the show I do not recall them saying that the phone was turned off after the second ping and has never been turned on again. Mother has been paying the bill every month just in case it is found or in case someone needed to contact her with it.

Wow, I can't believe they only sprayed the luminol in Bear's room. I understand maybe not doing the roommate's rooms, but the common areas!

I had two thoughts on the TV and could be way off base. My first thought was pawning it for money. My second was it being damaged in a struggle and was disposed of. Sending prayers to the family.

I am sorry there is still no word on Bear. I am praying for you all.

I wonder if Craig's List postings and the like were checked for the TV at the time of Bear's disappearance and for a few months after. I'm thinking of a young person (not Bear) trying to unload it quickly and anonymously for cash.

My biggest hang-up is the missing crutches. Seems to me that if someone used the bedding to remove him from the home with ill intent and they stole his money and TV, that the crutches would be of no use and in the way. If he left on his own with someone (with the crutches) and something bad happened to him outside the home, that person left him and came back to steal his things...why would they take the bedding?

Unless the crutches were used against him, or had evidence on them.

I suppose that's true. That's what I get for thinking too deep rather than trying to put myself into a perpetrator's shoes.

I did not see the dateline episode, and I haven't read up on Bear in a long time now. I know they sprayed luminal in his room, but I don't recall if cadaver dogs were used at the house.

I think he was choked in his home and wrapped up in the bedsheets and taken to the desert. He was a targeted by people that knew he had a safe and had probably been to his house previously. They saw his cars, TV, etc. and planned out how to murder him and dispose of the body. He opened his house up to a lot of people and who knows if perhaps gang members had hung out there cased the place. Sounds like he had a lot of parties there and there were slackers and hangers on there a lot. The crutches not being there could be purposeful on the part of the killer/killers to confuse the police.
