MISSION VIEJO, CA — A softball player from Mission Viejo was reported missing, Sunday, Jan. 21 from a park in Mission Viejo. Patch has reached out to Orange County Sheriff for the latest on this search.

"Emma Pangelinan is on our team and she is Family. She has gone missing," Emma's softball club reported over Facebook. "She was last seen Sunday afternoon riding a blue and green bike at Flo Jo Park , Alicia Parkway and Olympiad."

She disappeared not too far from the area that Blaze Bernstein was murdered. Keeping fingers crossed that she is found safe and sound, that poor girl. Her parents must be a wreck! That community has lost Blaze Bernstein to murder, another young man that was in high school to a fatal car accident, and now this young lady is missing.

"Have you seen Emma? Emma was last seen in Mission Viejo at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday evening, Jan. 21st. She is an at risk teen that needs to be reunited with her family. She may be riding a bright blue bike. If you have any info on her whereabouts contact #OCSD at 714-647-7000."

Still no news. Some locals mentioned there have been helicopters searching around the area that she went missing, but have come up empty. I hope the poor girl wasn't abducted.

"at risk" because of her age? (per OCRegister article in dotr's post #12)

never heard "at risk" being applied simply because of a MP's age

State law requires a missing teen to be considered at risk if he or she:

  • Is a victim of a crime or foul play
  • Is in need of medical attention or medicine to sustain life
  • Is the victim of a family abduction
  • Has a mental impairment
  • Has no pattern of running away or disappearing
There are also age guidelines that differ from agency to agency.

If any of those considerations apply, law enforcement agencies are required to broadcast information about the missing juvenile. Whether that means informing deputies and officers in the region, or telling the public at large depends on the case.

from that OCRegister article:

Pangelinan’s family, who last saw her at about 3:30 p.m., said she may be riding her bright blue bicycle, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Spokeswoman Carrie Braun said the Mission Viejo girl is considered at-risk because of her young age.

hmmm, "young age" not on that list... must be more going on, obviously.

Yes, in Mission Viejo, CA--age would also be a factor that's taken under consideration. Emma is only 13 years old.
