clu, your original post is that no one condemns HE. And I agreed with you. Now, I'm confuzzled again - lol!
In other words, we need the rules to be consistent across the board.

Who is condemning anyone?

I suppose someone could've unknowingly assisted him with getting his car back if he drove it off base and then returned on foot, but it's doubtful someone - even his wife - would risk not telling LE about unknowingly doing that, lest they be charged too. Or, he and she could have met where her car was parked, but that's an awful strange place to do so.

This is all provided, of course, that this was perpetrated by an alleged boyfriend and not a random person.

Or he got a ride to wherever they agreed upon.
And maybe that person HAS informed LE.

I want to see a picture CL!!

Night all, hopefully news tomorrow.

At least they are sending more searchers out.
Nothing is more depressing than when the search efforts stop.

Border Patrol and FBI brought in....???? A possible drug connection somehow? Not implying anything! Sheesh I'm paranoid to even post a thought! Just thinking out loud about what could bring them into the investigation..

Border Patrol, especially, isn't very uncommon here in SoCal MP cases - especially involving or near more remote areas, which is certainly the case out near 29 Palms and Joshua Tree.

In part because BP tend to know the areas much more and have more experience with all the paths/trails/hiding places/etc more than almost anyone else has.

I'm actually more surprised that we hadn't heard they (BP, at least) had been brought in from the get go, although maybe they were and it just wasn't made public.

I still struggle that Erin was not reported missing for a whole night. Can it really be usual for her to have stayed out overnight?

It doesn't make sense to me even in the context of her possibly having an affair with another marine, either. Even if Erin could get away with making up excuses for being away from home overnight, would that be possible for a marine too?

.......unless it was a single marine, living off base. That would maybe explain the car left near the base too. Convenience, and maybe to point a finger of blame at someone inside there?

If Erin hadn't previously stayed out overnight, then I still think it's highly suspicious she wasn't reported missing earlier, or friends were not called, to see if she was with them.

If this was a missing hiker, the searches would already be scaling right down, I believe. That they are increasing shows the determination to get evidence to bring a perp to justice, imo. I'm convinced LE know exactly who their suspect is, and approximately how long his time is unaccounted for, when Erin disappeared.

Yes, everything about this case sounds hinky, but we just don't know what had been going on between the young couple. Maybe they were estranged, and she had taken to staying out. We simply don't know, but I guess more will be revealed. Or frankly, wouldn't it be nice if Erin found her way back home. and we never did find out all the details? That would be a lovely outcome.

Wherever Erin is, it's almost certain to be a place where a vehicle can easily turn around, to go back the way it came.

Thanks TGIRecovered! This thread is moving so fast it's hard to keep up.

I believe the Border Patrol has their hands full. They can't patrol the border, investigate crimes and enforce the law when they are busy babysitting.

I see your point about a confirmation. But family has not rebutted nor removed the story link posted on the facebook page (supposedly operated by her SIL IIRC). In fact Jon's great-aunt all but confirmed it. Add the SBSO press release today, and it's not hard to read between the lines.

I don't think any of us care about the affair in terms of a moral judgement, quite the contrary. I could see Erin as her family has described her, being naive about a man's attention and intentions for her.

The alleged affair is important only as to "why" Erin has been missing for thirteen days.

If the married lover had anything to do with this it is obvious to me that he is a sexual predator. Normal people don't murder young pregnant girls.
