I agree, and for some reason I don't see JRF going for a hike in that heat. I think they were on a driving tour, in his air-conditioned truck.

I have the feeling the truck was not on a road, since park officials/LE knew they were going to the state park. Park staff and police likely searched every road, and continued to check for the next few weeks. I think the truck was found off-road, in a more remote location.

On the picture of his car taken in Thermal you can see that front and rear side windows are not completely closed .... which indicates that the people inside the car were not really fond of airco.

This reminds me of the search for missing pilot Steve Fossett. Thousands of satellite images of the area where he went missing were uploaded online and volunteers combed through them looking for his evidence of his missing plane. @Ou41aw
Somebody has access to satelite detailed accurate images of that region ?

Not really, as far as I can tell. Stayed pretty dry. And August 20 is almost a month after JFR's ping in Julian on July 24. The place where the truck was found is due east of Julian (back in the direction of Salton Sea).
I was thinking from the evidence standpoint. It's neither here nor there if the area wasn't affected but I was wondering if perhaps JF was swept away by moving water.

The park actually shut down over the storm due to that area being hit hard. (Originally the storm was expected to hit San Diego harder, but it moved inland and basically followed the reverse drive from Thermal to that state park. The Palm Springs area got hit potentially the hardest in the state.)

I'm not sure of the rules, as this isn't information about the case specifics, so apologies mods if this needs to be deleted. But screen shot is from the state park's facebook page during the time of the storm. (They had many related posts, but this gives a sense of how the area was impacted. One of their many posts talks about how intense the moving water was, creating new "washes" and moving large rocks, etc.)

I just don’t think JRF was living out of his truck until mid August. I also think if his dead body was swept out of the nearby truck, LE would mention it. No phone use or contact with friends after July 24.

I don't think he was living out of his truck until mid August either. I am thinking the deadly incident took place shortly after his phone pinged in Julian. I think he died in Harper Canyon. JMO

D.H. met Fang and John on 17th ....just a little after she arrived...and yes he reported him misding on 30th ... but we also have prove of strange conversation chats between him and our group ... that are not consistent and make us worry....
Can you clarify what you mean by "strange"? I am just asking because I know there was a lot of negative information put out about JRF right away. I am wondering if the conversations were perhaps miscommunications as a result of him being military and guarded given the negative press as well as language differences. Just a thought. Not saying that is true, just looking at every angle.

Kind of irrelevant since the case is under seal, but the San Diego County Medical Examiner issues press releases for all non-homicide cases. I went through to see if there was anything else in that area and didn't really see anything of note, but wanted to drop the link in case anyone else wanted to look.

We have a copy and screenshots of the English conversation that was not translated to English between DH and a in New York staying friend of the daughter of Fang.... in which DH ends the conversation in a way that it makes him very suspicious..... Hopefully San Diego Sheriff will investigate this to the bottom....
Hopefully he will apologize later to everybody for the consequences...

Thank you for clarifying!

On the picture of his car taken in Thermal you can see that front and rear side windows are not completely closed .... which indicates that the people inside the car were not really fond of airco.

Or were reacting to the very high price of fuel in California. That Tacoma was not fuel efficient and gas prices were about 50-60% above the national average here in California.

I think prices topped $6 a gallon out that way, which is a lot (approaching European pricing). I see lots of people not using their A/C (which is thought by many to increase fuel use - which is likely true).

If JRF was unaccustomed to daily trips topping 100 miles, that may have become a consideration.

I can't conclude that they weren't "fond" of air conditioning - at 110-120F, everyone *needs* A/C (although late in the day or early morning, not so much - do we know what time of day that video is from?)

I really really wish we knew whether one or two people were seen at the Thermal Campground (and which one it was). If we had a little bit more information, it would be great.

IMO.

Or they were smokers. I smoke and always have a window open an inch or two unless it's bitterly cold.
If the image was taken of the pickup truck parked somewhere (which we don’t know, and I can’t tell by the photo), some people leave the windows slightly cracked open on very hot days to let some of the heat escape to try to keep the interior feeling a little bit less like an oven.

looks not parked to me but on the road and moving ...or am I wrong ?

She is no smoker and hates it.....he might have been on drugs....or perhaps ventilating his car for a bad smell of things that happened in the night before ?
or it could be something as simple as .... the a/c makes my sinus bad so even when I have the air on I open the window some for outside air I live in AZ and do that often in 110 degree weather.

Sometimes people put the windows down when they first begin driving to get the hot air out once they turn the AC on. Then as the air cools down, they put the windows up. Maybe in this photo they just got into the car and began driving and were trying to let the hot hair out as the AC worked to cool things down?

I just wish we knew whether it was a "they" or a "him."
