GUILTY CA - Gavin Smith, 57, Oak Park, 1 May 2012

So far I have just followed the headlines about the McStay family murder
case in California ... so I am not aware of all the players & their details.
I have not looked yet if there might be a McStay thread here on Websleuths.

Last night I watched the CNN documentary on that case. And today I decided
to look for a timeline & I came across a blog which had a couple lines
implying there might be a coincidence between the McStay case & Gavin's case.
Both remain unsolved murders in California.

I don't think we are able to link to blogs as they are considered rumour,
but truly the blog did not go into any explanation, so I wanted to ask here
if anyone sees links between the 2 cases ? I was wondering if they were
thinking about a possible link to a drug ring ... or what else ???

I don't know enough about the McStay case to figure out who the suspects are
in that article. So far I have just heard about the McStay water fountain business
& possible real estate flipping ... & that his wife's background is vague.

Gavin had a connection to a drug ring though his affair with the Creech wife.
I know about the possible Mexican border sighting for the McStay family,
so I wondered if they had a connection to a drug ring also ?

ETA1: Sorry I just noticed that you said the "comments" ... but when I look at the webpage,
I do NOT see any comments at all, nor do I see a link to comments

ETA2: ok I went back to that website & this time I noticed that it had a problem loading disqus.
It finally came through ... so thanks for the lead. The comments were very interesting.
I think the McStays were involved in some shady dealings, but Mexican drugs is an attempt to
divert suspicion elsewhere. So that blog was probably wrong about a possible drug connection
& thus link to Gavin's case.

i just heard the police officer speak about Gavin's remains being able to be recovered. Then why haven't they been? He says without going into gruesome detail, his remains could be recovered. That makes it sound like he knows where they are located. Am I the only one who thought that?

They are reporting on the local news here in LA that his remains were found in the Angeles National Forest. Rest in peace, Gavin.
