Let me know where the line forms for tickets to this "SHOW". These brats need locked up.

My cats were abandonded on our property about 6 years ago, a mom & her 2 babies. We kept them, got them spayed, etc., the same goes for my dog, Lady, somebody abandoned her in March, now she is my other "kid" and we love her so.

I'll bring the popcorn

I can't bring myself to click on the link.

Sometimes when I read all of the stuff here I end up carrying it and am sad too much of the day so I don't want to see that pic.

I have 6 rescues. 4 dogs, 2 cats. I used to foster for several organizations but don't anymore cause A: I've got a full house and B: It became increasingly harder to give them up when a home was found. I started years ago in Charleston when the company that I worked for really encouraged you do volunteer work to the point that you earned extra vacation time for volunteering! Now that's a great company! So, I worked at the shelter. I took pics of the new dogs each week and updated their website. Of course, you maxed out after you earned an extra 3 days I think it was, but by that time you were so into your 'cause' that you did it willingly and the volunteer work was its own reward. Sorry, didn't mean to get off topic!

I absolutely don't understand, and never, ever will, how anyone can abuse an animal and get JOY out of it. It breaks my heart. I wish there was some real justifiable punishment for what these girls have done.

I can't bring myself to open the link either. I'm an animal lover and can't understand how anyone could be so cruel. :furious: :furious:

I hope this makes sense - sometimes it hurts me worse to read about animals being abused. :( Actually the two things that really get me the most are the abuse of children and animals. :(

Heartless cruel b!tches!! :furious: :furious: :furious: What kind of parents do they have? :furious: :furious: :furious:

I honestly think in addition to the butt whooping they need to be sentanced to serve time working with the humane society and with local shelters/vets helping to care for animals that have been abused to pay back the services of those that have been provided to care for the damage they have inflicted o this cat. Poor kitty..Maybe if they see the cruelty and damage up close and they have to serve a long time to pay back for the services they may think twice about doing any such harm in furture. If not then they are sociopaths in the making ..and god help us if that is the case. They also could do with some counseling so that perhaps what ever the cause can be addressed before they becoming career criminals.

To all of you who posted about your furbabies....Thank you all so much for getting them from shelters, rescues, and taking them in off the streets!!! You all are the real animal lovers.:blowkiss:

COTATI, Calif. (AP) -- A 3-month-old cat is clinging to life at a Sonoma County animal hospital after having been set on fire by two teenage girls who now face charges of animal cruelty.

While I am broke as heck due to my own fur babies vet bills this month, I would like to send some money to help with this cats care. If anyone has time to direct me in that direction it woud be greatly appreciated!

I AGREE!!! SET THE LITTLE *advertiser censored* ON FIRE AND WE'LL ALL STAND AROUND AND LAUGH.

I hurt when I read these stories and to think that someone enjoyed it just blows my mind away!!

This is local to me!! The There's a 10 or 11 year old boy who will hopefully receive the reward money (10k) for turning these girls in. It sounds like the family could use it, as the mom sells ice cream cones to the kids in the neighborhood and would like to buy her son a new bed with the money. IndyGal, I'll find the links, but Adam (the kitten's name) is being nursed at the Cotati Animal Hospital. Forgotten Felines of Sonoma County are the ones who were scheduled to spay the kittens and set up the reward fund. I'll gather the links from the local paper and post them shortly!!

The torture happened on Tuesday 6/19, but the first article didn't appear in the paper until the following Saturday (6/23) Some of the links have photos. They're not as bad as I had expected them to be, but so incredibly heart breaking!!

"I was in shock. I didn't know whether I should grab him with my hands or a wet towel," said Bowlan. "I picked him up and walked him to the bathroom and turned on the water in the sink. He turned his head and started lapping water from my hand."
"I didn't think he was going to make it until he looked at me in the eye. He wanted to live," said Bowlan, crying.

DA is reviewing the case: Adam underwent more surgery this week, including a skin graft on his hind section and the removal of parts of his burned ears.
The surgery was performed by veterinarian Lisa Alexander of the Animal Care Center in Rohnert Park. The work was done free of charge, according to Forgotten Felines, a local nonprofit organization that has taken charge of Adam's recovery.

Some are calling for the two teen girls arrested in the now-infamous kitten-burning incident to be placed inside a cage and torched alive.
Some want the two shackled and publicly humiliated, while still others say they would attack and beat them if they saw them on the street.

"Animal cruelty will not be tolerated in this county," he said. "I certainly understand the public's dismay over the maltreatment of an innocent animal. We hope that by filing charges these individuals will be held accountable and that it will prevent similar behavior in the future."

11-year-old may claim burned kitten reward
Every few minutes a child knocks on Irma Hernandez’s apartment door in Santa Rosa’s Apple Valley neighborhood, ready to hand over a dollar for an ice cream cone. It’s a way for her to supplement her husband’s modest income as a construction worker.
Hernandez’s 11-year-old son, Cesar, said he never imagined that spotting the teenage girls standing next to a cage on the other side of the creek would lead to a $10,000 reward.
But it wasn’t the reward that prompted Cesar to tell a reporter several weeks ago what he had seen. In fact, he said he doesn’t know why he spoke up, only that he “felt bad” for the torched kitten, which has since been given the name, Adam.
At Hernandez’s apartment, Cesar opens the door when a neighborhood youth knocks for an ice scream cone. His 7-year-old sister, Karina, goes to the refrigerator, pulls out a tub of ice cream and puts a scoop on the cone.
Hernandez said that if they end up getting any of the reward, she would like to buy her children some new school clothes, a new bed for Cesar and maybe a computer.
When asked what he would like, Cesar said, “I don’t know.”

How come thousands of kittens are killed by shelters each year when they are not adopted, or sick - yet one kitten gets twenty thousand dollars of surgery? I kind of would rather see the vet donate twenty thousand dollars of free spays and neuterings to her town.

Yes, it's sad. Sadder still, that kids today can even conceive of hurting little furry things.

Thanks so much. Tons of info here. I hope they do get 3 yeaRS!

In all honesty, I hope these girls aren't sentenced to work in a shelter. They need some serious counseling for mental issues and a severe arse whooping..

Hello girls and welcome to the future serial killers of America club! It's a proven fact that all serial killers started with torturing animals.

I can not fathom what makes people do this to animals. I dread thinking what has happened to the other cats in the cages that have "disappeared".

When feral cats are caught and caged for spay and neutering purposes, someone is supposed to be monitoring the cages so that something like the horrific abuse and stealing of the animals doesn't happen.

I hope the girls are charged and given a hefty sentence, not just a slap on the wrist.
Have they never had any pets of their own. Perhaps they should also be sentenced to community service by working in a veterinary office or humane society. The love and joy of animals may sink into their thick skulls then.

My husband and I have nine "rescued" cats that were abanded for one reason or another by their previous families. While I detest the families that do this type of thing, I couldn't be happier to have our fur-babies here with us where there are more than loved and well taken care of. They all seem very happy here with us.

Here's the link to the non-profit Forgotten Felines. They seems to have the most updates on his condition, the charges against the girls, etc.

I'm just as happy to hear that the DA is taking this seriously and charging these girls.

How wonderful for Cesar and his family that they will benefit from his being a hero.

Im so glad the cat made it. I really dont understand people intentionally hurting animals.

Im so glad the cat made it. I really dont understand people intentionally hurting animals.

I think I know how it begins....when children are horribly abused they often mistreat even younger more vulnerable children or animals. It's gives them a sense of power. Abused children will often learn to identify with their abuser if they do not recieve therapy.

I remember reading (but of course can't find the link) that some of the neigbors were upset that so much attention was given to Adam and not to a shooting that occured there last year, IIRC. While the general area is wine country, low crime rate, etc., this isn't the nicest of neighborhoods and has a lot of gang activity.

These girls need to have their arses spanked. I'm not one who believes in spanking but honestly these two need to be punished and need intensive therapy.
This is one of the few cases where I would not cry overly much if we instituted public caning for both the girls and those who were supposed to be raising them.

Someone needs to remove their wombs immediately, before this is their kid in a few years.
