bbmTrinity is the mom’s only child. Dad has 2 other daughters with other women. Mom’s sister has been posting on Facebook about how Trinity was her first niece and she loved her like a daughter.
From the heavy article:
“According to California’s sex offender registry, Taquesta Graham is a registered sex offender for the offense of enticing a minor female for prostitution. Her conviction was in 2009 and her release was in 2016. You can read more about her background here. She also has other prostitution-related offenses.
KTLA-TV reported that family members want to know why Trinity was in Graham’s custody in light of her arrest history.“
When are we going to change the laws to better protect our children?! Why was this monster (both) out and allowed to have this child in their custody?! Drug dealers are serving life sentences, meanwhile we are here today. Where is the outrage? Enough has been enough!
100% - SAMS, yes!
Someone has a pound of pot, and it's years in prison -- someone tortures and abuses his son and his sentence is about the same. Now why? (It does vary from state to state.)
So many cases we see here are put here on WS after the killing and/or mal-treatment of a young child. Child Services fails to do a proper job for the smallest and most helpless of us all -- often due to insufficient staff/lack of decent salary. Budgets are cut, salaries are usually not great, and caseloads are too heavy. When will it stop? I don't know if or how much CPS/DFS had to do with this family -- but something here is disconnected, and the child always loses.
There have been cases recently around Massachusetts where the child services workers had to leave children in dangerous situations because they had nowhere to place the child. All the emergency housing, emergency foster parents, etc. were full. In one case the worker brought the child to her office and let them sleep in the corner while she worked. In another, the child spent the night in the minimum security prison with her noncustodial mother.
This Los Angeles FOX new affiliate put this article on their Facebook page. The comments are telling and should answer your question. Such a sad situation all around.Who had custody of this child?

Mom's boyfriend expected to be charged in death of girl whose body was dumped, stuffed in duffel bag
Agreed, especially since the Dad verbally stated on a video that they contacted the child services people after the Mom took Trinity and, that he wanted her but the Mom wouldn’t let him see her. I don’t understand why LE wasn’t contacted by the child services staff immediately. A Parental Kidnapping Alert should have gone out. Trinity had been with the Mom for what sounded like months.“As you may know, state law protects the confidentiality of records for all children and families that come to the attention of child protective services, and prohibits confirming whether a child or family has been involved with the department. These laws are intended to protect the privacy of any siblings or family members and to respect sensitive family matters. ”
I read that as: “we screwed up big time, but hopefully we’ll be able to use the laws—meant to protect innocent children—to protect us so we can all keep our jobs.”

This is what Trinity's mother brought into her child's life. More at link.
Documents detail the malnutrition and abuse a three-year-old boy suffered at the hand of his father, who is now facing murder charges in the death of a 9-year-old girl found in a duffel bag on a Hacienda Heights hiking trail.
Emiel Lamar Hunt, 38, who was charged with murder Tuesday in the death of 9-year-old Trinity Love Jones, was previously convicted child abuse in 2005 after his toddler son was found unresponsive, malnourished and bruised at their San Diego home.
Documents obtained by NBC 7 on Wednesday describe the events of March 30, 2004, when San Diego Police Department (SDPD) officers found the unresponsive three-year-old boy and rushed him to Rady Children's Hospital trauma unit.
Man Accused by Family of Calif. Girl's Death Has Prior Convictions
When families are granted permanancy of a child after a couple years at most the case is closed assuming everything is going well. If the parent is in prison and the available parent is not deemed a proper caretaker then the case would probably only go on for a year for the best interest of the child settling in with her new caretaker. The biological father has the option of being the custodial parent. When the case is closed there isn't anyone to check up on the child at that point and no open case which means family services just isn't involved at that point. You can't just call them up and open the case. Especially on hearsay. You are now the legall guardian. The concerned family would have had to call the police if they suspected the child is in harm's way. If the Aunt at her descretion decided to allow her sister to have visitation with her daughter that is the Aunts choice if she has permanent custody. If her sister talked her into letting her niece go back and live with her there really isn't any open case so again it's the Aunts decision. The Aunt is responsible once again if she had custody. The reason for "home schooling" may have possibly been that the if the Aunt was guardian she would have had to enroll her in school, thus that was avoided by "home schooling". If they went through the court to reinstate the Mothers rights as guardian to her daughter and reunification it would have been a bit of a process of proving herself to the courts that she would not only be able to care of herself but also to care for her daughter in emotional and monetary ways.“As you may know, state law protects the confidentiality of records for all children and families that come to the attention of child protective services, and prohibits confirming whether a child or family has been involved with the department. You provided great insight and reminders into how the system works after the initial case is closed. Thank you. I’m pretty sure the Dad stated that yes, the Aunt had custody and Trinity was pulled from public school by her mother. How did the school let her go? Schools are normally aware of custody issues. The Dad also stated the police were called, which is why I’m so confused as to why a new case or follow up case, was not opened to find Trinity. Radio silence from all those who are meant to serve and protect - just blows my mind! This poor little girl who had angels in place to help her overcome obstacles suddenly had them ripped from her. It breaks my heart. When families are granted permanancy of a child after a couple years at most the case is closed assuming everything is going well.
