Here's the "starve" comment in context. Not exactly a direct quote of his words, could be the neighbors description. Also, this is an early (Mar 29) CBS article. I don't really think the info about tortillas and peanut butter had come out yet. I think more details came with subsequent interviews with various publications.

"Their daughter is telling us, 'Please, please, please,' begging us not to go back. They're abusing her," said Dana Dekalb. "And then Devonte coming over here and telling us he's being starved to death."

The Dekalbs say recent cries for help from the Hart children prompted them to call Child Protective Services last Friday.

"I was trying to help them and protect them and this is the result," said Dana.

Are you freaking kidding me. They all look like a bag of bones compared to some of the other photos. Look how big Devonte head looks compared to the rest of him. Look at Markis skinny neck and how baggy the shirt is you can tell how skinny he is. All the others look very skinny. You have to compare the earlier photos. They are thinner and thinner as time goes on.

I will say this again and again. Were your thin kids going hungry that they had to go to neighbors asking for food. The state and federal government was giving these women good money to properly provide food for these children.

All I have to do is look up the gawky teenagers in my yearbook... And I can list them as my friends, too. Forty years and whoa, (???) pounds later.

The kids' weight does not look abnormal to me. When I was a kid and everyone played outside almost all the kids were thin.

But there have been repeated allegations of food withholding by both thbnkids and a family friend who witnessed it.

And by all accounts, these kids weren't allowed outside much except during photo op trips and festivals.

I would think that kids who hoard food and eat whenever they can and whatever is given to them due to past issues of hunger, would typically not be thin? Maybe one but six kids from two biologically related families?

Regardless, friends have passionately stated that these children were miracles of love and peace and perfect, magical creatures totally healed by the unending devotion and love of their tireless, heroic parents.

Sorry. It can't be both. Either they were perfect miracles OR they had RAD and food hoarding issues etc., which people surely would've noticed at these gatherings?

None of the friends reported behavioral issues. The only friend to report a problem was with the PARENTS not the kids. In 2013.

She reported that the parents were withholding food as punishment and were emotionally abisive. She reported it to CPS and they immediately ended the friendship.

How I pray this is true. However, I think something more dramatic happened to trigger this horrific event. I'm sure whatever that is will be revealed in the coming days. I'm very concerned about those freshly turned plant beds at their house.

I'm wondering what caused the initial statement that Jen and Sarah WERE wearing their seatbelts. That has now been retracted. I'm certain an autopsy could determine this for certain with the injuries that would be sustained with a belt at their torso and waistline.

What seems weird to me is that the adults played video games but the children, teens and tweens, weren’t allowed to play (age appropriate) video games.

This is a pretty big "oops" IMO. But if none were wearing seat belts it would easier explain how Sarah ended up in the back (presuming she started out in the front passenger seat).

They said, a few days ago, that Sarah was found between the front and back seats, contradicting their earlier statement that both adults were belted.

Teachers also reported that the kids were easy to get along with. No remarks about any problems.

I want to say we hear the word spanking but this was no tap on the butt.This child was held over a bathtub and beaten which led to severe bruising.She pled guiltyThis is FACT.

The accusations were the beating with a closed fist and dunking head in cold water by Jen. Sarah admitted to spanking her bent over the tub because of out of control lies being told. She pleads to domestic assault and the malicious punishment of a child is dropped.

Maybe Sarah spanked her but Jen beat her and dunked her. What Sarah admitted to is a crime, but I don't believe she admitted to the beating & dunking. I'll stand corrected if I'm wrong. Heck, if I'm corrected quick enough I'll edit!

It just doesn't sit right with me that Jen is accused multiple times and Sarah admits fault.

Not only that but the story said that the bruising was above the waistband, so that wouldn't even fit with being spanked on the butt while over a bathtub and the force being enough to bruise the stomach area (from the sternum, I think it said?), because that wouldn't bruise the back.

From the bruising it really does sound like a vicious beating.

But as for facts, it was Jen who the child accused of doing the beating, but Sarah who pled guilty to it, claiming that they'd started spanking due to the child's behavior (lying?) and that on this occasion she was super stressed out and went too far (or words to that effect).

I don’t think they had time to bury three kids in the yard before they left, leaving no trace for LE when the executed the search warrant on the home. JMO
