That looks to me like something a man would do after a fight with his girlfriend, who he now thinks is ghosting him. Leaves the car door open (not planning to stay), rings the bell, leaves the peace offering then jumps back in the car.

One also wonders if there was anything in that box of muffins that was not a muffin. MOO

My first reaction was that it seemed like an "intimate" behavior rather than something a boss would do for his employee.

I have a bulging L5 & S1. I walk a little wobbly and weird myself when it’s tweaked. Maybe the muffins are from his wife? She made him take them over there. Peace offering? Maybe he thinks she’s avoiding him? He doesn’t stay in case of a potential confrontation that is trying to be avoided?
Thanks for bringing this up. I had the same thought, negative one million chance my husband would think to do this (he has a similar type job too). Especially a man from a wealthy background who has had lots done for him in life. This is totally the suggestion of another woman IMO. The work environment seems clearly toxic for a number of reasons - background SEC investigation/case, a former business partner in jail for a long time, complicated structure (lots of related entities and money to keep track of). But, is it possible that maybe there was a relationship? (Will edit if this is against TOS, help me out senior WSers).

eta if things soured, they probably have a lot on eachother.

Could be. He really wants his laptop back. Moo.
He does. And sorry, I don’t know what day the muffin drop was in this timeline, but he could have been checking to see if there were police or feds or a boyfriend who know who’s parked by. He might have brought the muffins thinking if he drove by and someone (like a neighbor, or someone standing in the driveway) recognized his car, he had an explanation for being there. I really don’t know. All MOO.

Viewing that video with no context looks like a million DoorDash and GrubEats videos on my Ring. Driver exits the car, rings the bell, places food on the step and immediately leaves.

This is someone who's mission was to deliver something to the doorstep without expecting contact with the resident.

Now that we know it was JS (according to the neighbors), why would he do that? If it was work related, he'd have had an assistant do it. Which leads me to think it was personal. jmo

Without coming right out and suggesting as much, I have hinted at this more than once. I have always thought that her lifestyle must have been being supplemented by someone. I just do not see how she could live the lifestyle she seemed to be living on just her probable income from her job. JMO

Wants it to look like he doesn't know that she's GONE.

imho

If there had been a relationship and HP had come to be aware of historical financial irregulations or unsavoury activity in terms of embezzlement or fraud, could she have faced any charges for simply being aware of this, even if she wasn't an active party?

For example, she started working there after any dubious activity had taken place, but was confided in (perhaps by JS if there was any relationship between them) that this had happened previously.

If the answer is yes, then potentially she's at risk from two opposing sides: LE, for her knowing what had gone on and not whistleblowing, and maybe JS for her knowing what had gone on and being a potential whistleblower.

Am I correct that the ex received her phone from a friend of hers on the 18th, but didn't do anything until the 21st? Hmmm? I find that strange, if true.
He said he started calling numbers he didn’t have. It didn’t occur to him to check the other phone for messages for the dog until days later.
If the reporting that both phones have been found is accurate, and I don't believe it is, as the reporting has been all over the map, one article directly contradicting another, and various people saying different things in interviews, but even if only one phone has been found, I am wondering if there was possibly a third 'burner' phone that Heidi was using to communicate with someone, (maybe she was talking to the SEC, or thought she was, or maybe she just feared someone was listening on her other lines), especially if she feared she was in jeopardy for some reason. In this day and age, I cannot fathom someone with 2 phones leaving home with neither of them. I remember the time when I would get in my car and drive, just to get away from phone calls. Now if I get a mile away from my house, and realize I don't have my phone, I will turn around and go back to get it. I think that is just us as a society now. JMO
Her Ex also said in the NG interview she had an Apple watch, too, left in home. Phones and watch locators all turned off.
I’m thinking when she left home that Sunday, 10/17, she did so not wanting to be tracked or had been told by whoever she was going to meet to leave devices behind, maybe?
I think, too, that there might be a clue or two from her behavior at the Stadium.

IMO she wouldn’t be charged if the activity had ceased before she became employed there, and likely the feds have or had everything they need anyways. Any testimony she would have would be icing. If it’s NEW stuff, different story.

If so, he did a bad job. If that's the impression he was trying to leave, he would have rung the bell and waited. Maybe rung it more than once. Then knocked on the door perhaps. Before finally giving up and leaving. He did do a check to see if the door was unlocked (the second time he reached out), but it was pretty perfunctory.

Perhaps he genuinely thought she was there, but it seems he already knew she wasn't going to answer him. This may have been an established pattern of behavior when there was conflict between the two. MOO

I see a few scenarios from this perspective.

1) she was being compelled to testify about old stuff she wasn’t a party to but has knowledge of
2) she was in a position to whistleblow on new stuff
3) she was being compelled to testify about new stuff
4) JS accusation that she is embezzling too is true
5) he was dangling it over her head to prevent the above (1-3).

I am director of a dog rescue. What is a "retrofitted chip"? Chips are injected under a dog's skin at some point by the owner or the rescue. Not sure what they mean when they say "retrofitted", or why they say it at all.
That retrofit comment caught my attention, too.
I searched and only found 1 site that referred to updating a chip, changing contact info, by that term.

The narrator on the news clip indicates the video was taken "a day or two after she went missing." (She was last seen 10/17, so this would have been Monday or Tuesday, after she hadn't shown up to work or responded to calls, I would assume. JMO, MOO)

Edited for clarity.
I totally agree. So at this point JS was not aware she was even missing imo

Agree, it’s definitely a flex. Do we think HP works from home? Most people I know here in this area are still home. I wonder how common it was for him to go there for meetings (I doubt it).

eta also curious to see what else is on the ring from like the week before she went missing to now. I wonder if anyone else dropped in or got in, I presume she has her electronics there and we know she kept files (removed during fed/lapd LE visit)
Interesting thoughts. I t seems the neighbors were the ones who identified JS in the video, so I am going with him meeting her at the house for businees on a regular basis. I have been reading since the beginning and have seen no other actual office address where it has been stated she has an office, so I am going with her working from the house. I know many people that bring muffins/cookies/treats to meetings so I don't find it odd. I do find it odd he leaves the muffin box out on the "stoop" in an open area close to the road ? That seems weird lol. Is this more of a general FLEX to say - there is tape of everyone who has come to her door since the day she went missing and perhaps even before - so that it is sending a wider message and not merely underscoring her relationship with JS.
