I'm not sure what part of the family she is talking about. How are those cousins related to Briant and his part of the family?

The car, they wanted the car too. This is certainly strange. They couldn't find the car keys to steal the car during the break-in so they abduct a child?

What did they do~ run from the scene toting a child? Anyone else having a hard time visualizing this scene?
 
morning Kat! I actually, after finding out the front door was open, don't find it hard to believe that this *could* be a crime of opportunity. It almost sounds like these two were fleeing something if they were looking for car keys and took only a cell phone and cash. As for why they would take this baby... I cannot even begin to think why... It is all strange no doubt.

From looking at the myspace pages, this one in particular
This kid was into gang activity (blue pic in album) which is crips. He was into spray paint and graffiti which could indicate huffing (spray can pic on page, reference to being high, and pic in album that has caption "This is what I hit").
I'm thinking there could be some gang rivalry here. Also graffiti gangs often use walkie talkies to communicate when they are "bombing" so they don't get caught by the po-po.
 
Thanks nurse and morning to you too. I think just might be a crime of opportunity too. I just can't fathom or factor in the taking of the 3 yr old. That doesn't jibe.

I can't work it out in my head. Yes, I have seen where children or adults were abducted for repayment of money owed (drugs) but that is usually the children or adults of wealthy families (S. America comes to mind) where a ransom can be extorted. This family looks like it doesn't have a pot to p!zz in. (I do remember the child that was abducted and found safe because of his GFther's debts here in the USA). For that reason a drug cartel connection doesn't work for me as of now.

I'm still puzzling out any gang activity. I don't see anything on the boy's myspace, just a boy that likes cars, graffiti (spray cans) with the exception to one icon which referred to the color blue. Not enough to persuade me that he's gang affilitated. I don't see it on the two cousins myspace pages either.

I am just now sitting down to think about this young man and what may have happened to him. O/T he's beautiful, he reminds me of my middle daughter when she was that age...even the hair .

As for the cousins: I do not know how they are related, but interesting comment, family against family, crazy *advertiser censored* s.. i t.
I hope LE is questioning all the family members.

Car keys: Extremely odd. I can only imagine 3 men running from a neighborhood on a Sunday afternoon with a 3 yr old tucked under their arm. ? Nope.

Something is off.
 
It is an interesting comment indeed dreamweaver, I'm keeping it tucked in the back of my mind...just in case.

I am staying with my Mom in Temecula which is not far from San Bernardino so this has been the big news story here. What I envision with the 'walkie talkies' is those Nextel phones that you talk through over the speakerphone. These seem to be very popular in Mexico right now, anytime you are in a store or shopping center here and you hear people on them, it's usually the wealthier Mexicans using them who are over here doing some shopping. Anyone else notice this?

Not only that, but if this happened in the middle of a Sunday, it's the least amount of traffic heading down the 15 freeway to the border.
 
In regard to the MySpace comment about family against family... if you look at the MySpace comments of the girl who left the comment, the cousin had asked her a few days ago, "..DAMM WHAt HAPPENED? iF i COULD ASk??" That tells me whatever the friend is talking about has to do with her and not Briant.

This has been posted before, but I was especially taken by a couple of poster comments.
1. Local tv reports mom saying they had only lived there two months and they tore the house up looking for something.
2. Local tv reports mom saying the kidnappers thought Briant was a girl, because of his long hair and that is the reason he was taken.

Hey ya'll not sure if someone posted this answer to your question yet but last night on Nancy Grace a caller asked the same question while they were going to a commercial break, then when Nancy came back after commercial she stated that Briant was the only child of the mothers current union, the man who was at work is Briants father and the other children in the home are from another union. Nancy asked if the father of Briant was being cooperative with LE and the reporter stated that she thought he was....he wasn't talking much but he was sitting on the steps griefstricken with his head in his hands.
 
Okay, I combed quite a few of these myspace pages linked to the brother Jose's page and there is defiantly a gang affiliation with the Latin Kings...a branch known as Cali Kings. In some pics of party gatherings and what I assume is a wedding I see family members/friends that I suspect are members of opposing gangs (wearing red) but at the same time most probably family rather than just friends. If this is the case and it is a family gang feud I'm hopeful that Briant is okay. While there is a loyalty to the gang family, blood family usually trumps gang family.
 
I've been away from the computer, are there any updates on this?
Last I heard the abductors were going to take the child to Mexico and kill him.

I understand Briant was taken Sunday 5/3/09 approx. 2:30 pm and the Amber Alert was issued approx. 9 hours later (approx. 11:30 pm).

Does anyone know if police started searching for this child between time of abduction but before the AA was issued and if so, at what time the search by police began?

I do not believe this child was abducted for ransom. From what it sounds these guys were looking for something perticular, but did not find it. If they had been looking for the car keys I would think the mother would of told them where the keys were before they took her child. This is most likely a debt of some kind. Drug, gang or payback??? I would be curious to hear the fathers thoughts. I read this family just moved into that home two months before. Can someone please tell me where they moved there from? I live about 25 miles away from SB and I have not heard of any cases like this one before.

My prayers for Little Briant for a safe return. Please Lord let there be a happy ending:praying:
 
2:15pm on a Sunday-where was everyone on the street that they did not notice two armed/masked men blow through a door, tie up and rob everyone and then take a toddler from the home??? I would believe they left with a certain amount of speed...

I heard on NG that the suspects were 18 yrs of age and 24 yrs of age...huh? Kind of specific...

I suppose this could be a thrill kill, but why pick the toddler and not everyone? If this was revenge, why choose that particular child? Why to Mexico to kill him? What direction were they really headed in???

They said they began searching for him immediatly, but did not put out an Amber Alert because there was no vehicle description or really good descriptions of the suspects. Too bad those precious hours were not used better, they should of at least put out a description of little Briant and what he was wearing. IMO :confused:
 
I hope this child is found abandoned somewhere, alone but safe.
Why did they take him?
