Speaking of "when he learned the biker had found the skull": This reminds of something from years ago. Does anyone remember the Craiglist ad asking about anyone who had seen a 4-wheel drive vehicle in the desert? I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed here. I just can't keep up!

If I recall, it was a year or so after they went missing, and it was a really odd post. I think it described the Trooper. I've always wondered what came of that, and if LE ever tried to track down the poster. For some reason I think they did and couldn't find him/her? However, I'm wondering if any theories ever came from it by LE over the years. Just thinking here about everything, and little items from the far corners of my mind, like that strange Craiglist post, keep creeping to the fore.

Yeah, a fully bogus story but not intentional. That was really a strange thing, including the date exact or almost exact of the day the remains were discovered IIRC.

@fridaybaker, I know you've been around since the early days, I wonder where all the old stalwarts @liz b., @OldSteve, @McSpy, @white rabbit, @panthera, @krista, @Nancy2441, @TLS51, @Woe.be.gone, @SherlockKittyCat , @TerriM, @gitana1, @tripleB, @Illuminada, @Isabellnecessary, @Seajay and @bessie??? So many had invaluable input over the years and sadly I don't see many around that had followed this case from the beginning.

I hope in the state's closing they bring forth CMs many statements that points to CoG.

Just wait until the jury sees and hears him on his other interviews.

Now that the jury knows he is the one accused of murdering all 4 every word he said will be dissected line by line.

It was in one of those interviews way before his arrest that convinced me then he would be the one arrested one day if the bodies were ever discovered.

I think I may have been one of the very few that wasn't shocked in the least when he was arrested.

I thought...' Yes.it's about dam* time!!!'
Do you guys remember that footage when he was arrested and shuffled into the courthouse/police station in shackles. He had been sweating profusely and was quiet and head down. Now tell me this, if someone had just arrested you wrongly for killing your best mate and family would that be your behaviour on arrest? No, you’d be mortified and yelling your innocence at the cameras and from the roof tops, not shuffling into court head down. That’s when I knew he was 100 percent guilty.

On the comprehensive timeline thread ( https://www.websleuths.com/forums/threads/mcstay-family-comprehensive-timeline.285143/#post-14733757 ) one of the entries is this:

4:25 pm - Outgoing call from home phone to Joseph's cell, which pings from Fallbrook tower. This is the last outgoing call from the home phone.

This isn't showing on Joey's cell phone records.

The original source was SDSO.

ForceTen, I've been wondering that myself a lot lately; in fact, just about five minutes ago I was mulling about some of those specific people! They were here for YEARS! You might not believe this, but I remember actual posts from some of them. Odd how they don't seem to be around anymore. I never dreamed that if/when this thing came to trial there would be, essentially, a whole new set of people discussing it. Too bad. I'd love to have continued the discussion with them.

I'm the one who typed this up - try this link - I can't access it (EU rules) - but it might be in this article:

I have been following this family for so long and I would be interested if anyone in this forum personally know the defendant? Are there any stories of him being violent before the death of this family?
Does anyone have direct info on the supposed lie detector test that CM took?

The San Diego Union Tribune is no longer owned by tribpub.com it’s now owned by the LA Times, it appears the link you posted is now dead. Here’s a link to its current website The San Diego Union-Tribune - San Diego, California & National News You can search there and see if an archive to the original article still exist. I would search for it myself but I don’t know the name of the article.

Right? McSpy, LizB and White Rabbit were standouts IMO. We've finally arrived. Maybe they're just onto to other cases.

Regarding the call from Fallbrook to Pomona at 8.28:

testimony at 11:43 in the video - per Team Mobile, the call was either answered or went to voicemail as it was 1 minute long - the destination is the tower that would be nearest to the phone number being called (rather than the location of the phone)

testimony at 51:45 in the video - per AT&T, there was no call at 8:28 and no idea why another carrier would show one. Unfortunately, AT&T would have been able to show whether the call went to voicemail while the phone was off or not

So, per these two witnesses, we still do not know whether Chase's phone was off or whether it was stationary in Rancho Cucamonga or somewhere else? Another break for Chase, imo.

Another question about the phone records, what is a text to e-notes? (5.47 pm)

I went and looked that up last night. Sounds like an email to text or text to email type thing. Instead of texting to a phone number, you text to an email address.

I was thinking it was strange that there are 4 things at 17:47. There is an e-note, a text message, an internet connection (viewing a webpage), and a phone call all listed at that time. I think the first 3 are all one event though now. Got or sent a text to email, the email would require the internet connection, so it covers all 3.

Yes I think his phone may been dead and charging.

I don't think his phone was dead and charging at 4:25 (16:25), his phone is active at 16:13, 16:18, 16:27, 16:31, VM retrieved at 16:27 and 16:31.

When did Merritt go to Susan's? It was the 9th, wasn't it? And he went and drove by the house that day too?

If he went into MSM on Monday morning, when did he leave the Trooper at the border then? We know from the security guards testimony that it had to be Monday the 8th, right? I wonder if there was any other gaps that day in his cell activity?

Yes, his cell was off for 6 hours 7am-1:30 pm when it "pinged" in Corona, Ca.

Your right, I was guessing. At some point for a duration of about 20 minutes between 3 and 5:45 I think his phone was dead and charging. During the landline call, wasn't he on the phone with Chase? So he didn't answer the landline call which is probably why it didn't register. At 4:27 he listens to the VM. I think it's for 2 or 3 min? I don't have access to the record right now. Strange he didn't call back.

I believe Force-Ten (sp?) once said that a "William" also went missing in the general area of the gravesites and LE ended up locating his 4x4, but not him. Maybe the ad was referencing that case? Just a guess here.
