Hi Queen
The families are exhausted.
I do not seeing them suing anybody.

I am wondering if here in So. Cal, if there's a sort of "black-out," on info. I have been thinking, that maybe the family will bring suit against L.E., for flubbing things up, providing there is a conviction. And I certainly hope there is. Someone posted a video earlier, of the Mcstays and their babies in the car, driving to their new home. It was so touching (and INCREDIBLY sad) to hear them speak and the babies babbling, in the back seat, sounded so adorable.
Oddly enough, I tried to post a comment on an article about them, on the LA TIMES website and it was denied. I got a msg. that "comments from readers *in my area* were not being accepted."

katy... I am so unimpressed with this prosecution that I unloaded on my hubby and my daughter tonight LOL They all know that I follow these cases, we laugh all the time about destroying my hard drive if something goofy happens to Dad LOL Hubby knows the case a bit ... but my daughter didn't, I had her googling it before I even finished unloading!!!

I won't go into detail about what I'm unimpressed about, but to just name a few... how things in the preliminary hearing are not always matching up with what is being testified to now (I have actually copied the full prelim testimony and have been highlighting as we go what was either not true or misrepresented). Today, the fact that the pro's took out 1 of thousands of files accessed on the computer to imply that Merritt was on a computer in the home accessing a QB's bookmark, when in fact it was 1 of the thousands accessed around that time, and it was the system doing it, not a user, it kinda ticked me off. Was the prosecution just hoping that the defense wouldn't find that? wouldn't notice? wouldn't question it? Like c'mon! I expect more from the prosecution, doesn't everyone? They are usually held to a higher standard than a defense attorney... we expect to see that kind of trickery from them, or at least I do. I know not all prosecutor's are saint's, but argggggh!

Anyway, by the time I had unloaded, I figured out that what I'm most annoyed at is the fact that I have believed for so many years that Merritt was absolutely guilty and now because of the trial, I am second guessing that. They had me believing things that actually may not have been true all these years. I sure hope that everyone that thinks he is guilty with no doubts whatsoever, also takes the time to listen to all of the testimony, put aside the hatred for Merritt, put aside his past, and just listen to the evidence .... or lack of. I hope the prosecution can change my mind as the evidence comes out... but it's not looking good right now LOL

Yes, that part set me off too---about the 25k files being scanned during the time the 'credit report' was supposed to be being searched. So it is no longer a likely assumption that Chase was sitting there on the computer on Feb 8th. One more piece of evidence, falling by the wayside it seems.

Chase forgets his own home address in that interview; can't recall Metro's address either; confuses the day on which President's day falls--these types of memory loss can be mild signs of Alzheimer's-like-dementia.

Stress can cause memory loss as well.

Chase's heart attack had to have been verified, because it's in his probate report. And investigators executed a search warrant for Chase's medical records and I am certain if they had found Chase was lying about having had a heart attack, THAT fact would have made it into opening statements.

And Chase admits he acquired 100k in debt over those medical bills. Maybe Chase's real debt is health related not gambling related.

The question is: If Chase is lying, why lie about any of the above?

Thanks katy.. makes me feel better lol knowing that you are convinced he is guilty but still "heard" that!

Curious... were you able to catch what they were saying about the 2 QB's accounts... was there 2 separate accounts... 2 separate subscriptions? I think that's what I heard, but I wasn't able to listen that carefully at that time.

While listening to this phone call of Chase to his girlfriend, when he's trying to convince her that they were at home watching tv on Feb 8th, President's Day.
PRESIDENT'S DAY IS THE 3RD MONDAY IN THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY ALWAYS.
Not the first. It is the third Monday of February.
I give him credit for bull crappy fed to his gf.
Guess she's not too bright.

Why would he lie about that?

Medications can cause issues like that as well (I have personally witnessed this with more than 1 person with medications) And chronic medical problems.

JMO and all that! The president's day confusion wasn't Merritt though... it was Dugal/Fiske.

My feed kept going in and out. It was interrupted so many times that I only heard about 1/3 of what was said, and it skipped around so much...

On the bright side, we should get a whole 4 hours of testimony tomorrow... and the testimony today... by the time it's all uploaded we will have something to discuss on their long weekend LOL

I...um...forgot that part ;) I'll go back and listen again.

I find it so hypocritical to say that it's suspicious that Chase couldn't remember what he did on what day when we hear 2 officers asking him what he did on the 8th and to help him remember they tell him it's President's day.. a holiday... kids weren't in school. President's day was only 2 days previous and they couldn't remember that? but they expect him to remember every detail.:D

@MsFacetious I can "see" you are catching up (notifications are both awesome and annoying at times haha) I am really curious to hear what your take is on how this trial is going... the time off... the seemingly slow pace... the evidence so far... lol

I will catch up in the morning (6 hours or so from now lol)

I will say good morning to our UK friends that should be joining us soon and will give me something to read with my morning coffee :)

I was able to hear a fair amount of it, and yes, 2 separate QB accounts w/e-mail (@contact and @custom), two subscriptions (think they even showed some kind of payment activity for each of them but the feed was so bad I was getting lost). L&C probably won't have the replay video up until morning but at least it'll come directly from the server and not have all the playback and stream problems.

One thing I couldn't ascertain, the credit report search thing - on Thur. didn't they show the print out showing it had been "user accessed"? If a scan had run at some point that day, that same file could have been accessed and Maline found it and was trying to confuse the issue. I don't know quite what is the case (and the stream was very unhelpful) but the state may not have been trying to pull a fast one, I'll withhold judgement on that.

I'm confused about the check numbers though, if no checks had ever been printed from the Custom account, why would #4093 be the first in line? I'm sure you don't just pick a number out of a hat for the check number when printing, it should correspond to the check stock you have. It shouldn't have anything to do with the Contact account check numbers as it's a completely separate account from Custom.

Sorry, I believe you are referring to the police interview and the phone call they recorded when CM called gf. He was confusing the Monday with presidents day which was the following Monday after the Monday of the 8th. I believe the interview took place around the week after Presidents day. She was saying they were doing nothing on the presidents day. CM sounded confused to me as well. Do you think he was trying to play the LE and the gf?

I don't think the custom account matters. It was basically being used as a job costing module. All checks for the business had to ultimately be recorded in contact since it was the account where the bank account tracking was being done. I hope we see the bank records for which check numbers cleared the various bank accounts. If any 4000 series was cashed, that pretty much means Chase is toast (imo) because he must have been holding old check stock and he made the mistake of practicing at the McStay house before creating checks at his house. Plus there is the check he wrote to himself on the Feb. 2nd. I have not seen the check numbers of the cashed checks so I cannot be sure about anything yet.

So we need to see if the checks created in the Custom account were ever recorded in the Contact account, where the balance would be tracked.

It makes no sense that those check amounts would be deleted, if they were not noted or recorded in the main account.

Theories about the lack of feet found in the graves? Bizarre.

Sorry if previously discussed.

I thought it was hands, not feet, and I suspect that it’s because of coyotes scavenging in shallow graves.

There’s been no mention of tool marks on the remaining bones, so I don’t think any hands were cut off. (In this era of DNA testing, I think that trying to eliminate fingerprints is fairly pointless.)

ETA a gruesome afterthought
