Why kill Juliana though? Revenge against her father?

"Although authorities have remained tightlipped on how Park was linked to Redding since they arrested the woman in Camarillo, they provided a hint to the connection in the motion for higher bail. Redding's father, Greg Redding, was "involved in a business negotiation with Dr. Uwaydah that fell apart … five days before the murder charged in this case," Santa Monica Det. Karen Thompson, the investigating officer in the case, wrote in the bail motion.

Thompson said Park was suspected of being involved in "medical fraud." In previous court filings, prosecutors reiterated Park's involvement in "ongoing, complex, multi-layer medical fraud" and said they were aware that the Berkshire Hathaway Insurance Co. was withholding "several million dollars in payment on medical claims" submitted from Uwaydah's medical practice."

So, a pharmacist, a spine surgeon, a crooked assistant and a business deal?

I'm still trying to figure out why this girl was worth paying 250K (or more) to have killed.

Well since the Dr is having MILLIONS of dollars worth of payments withheld from him due to the fraud investigation it Id surmise he was VERY upset when the 'business deal'with her father fell through.......he was likely counting on that deal for immediate money.
Hes shady & involved in illegal activity & knows he's being investigated,he's having money problems,I'm sure theres even more sordid details going on so his state of mind is likely desperate & irrational.
I wouldnt be surprised if she had introduced her father to him (or vice versa) & the Dr then dillusionally blamed her when her father backed out(which I'm guessing is what happened)........this is going to get interesting.

So, Kelly S. Park works for Sherwood Financial & Investments, on Sherwood Court in Thousand Oaks, and she also works for Frontline Medical Associates?

Sheesh. The payment amounts weren't supposed to be made public.

The judge in the case of a woman accused of murdering an aspiring model in 2008 warned attorneys on both sides Monday to avoid leaking information to the news media.
Last week, The Times obtained a bail motion stating that defendant Kelly Soo Park received hundreds of thousands of dollars in payments from a physician who was in a foundering business deal with the victim’s father.
“I don’t know how that got printed in the L.A. Times,” said Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz. “Unless there’s an invisible person … somebody gave it to them.”

Incestuous no? Seems at least 2 people(Kelly & the absconded Doc)had ALOT to lose when this deal fell through & poor Juilana was caught in the middle.
I think they were others involved(I know a man was arrested with Kelly then released)and hopefully that will come to light .
I think this is going to keep getting more and more tangled though...

She appears to have been a realtor for Sherwood Financial. Up until what point, or if she continued to while working for Frontline is unknown.

Here is another online article which mentions her as a realtor.

from July '07

http://articles.latimes.com/2007/jul/15/realestate/re-hotprop15

Brett Lawyer of Sotheby's International Realty, Sunset, had the listing, and Kelly S. Park of Sherwood Financial & Investments represented the buyers, identified as a wealthy European couple.

also, she represented Frontline Medical in the purchase of the Onxnard property mentioned earlier, so she was hired by Frontline as a realtor. The doctor's lawyer acknowledges that Kelly Park was employed by Dr. Uwaydah. in what capacity, still unknown.

Gee - what is happening in our world?
To many young die from bad choices. The arrested 2 were they her friends?

http://cbs2.com/local/Juliana.Maureen.Redding.2.1759238.html[/QUOTE

With all due respect, did you read the articles you quoted or the new one you linked to? Juliana's murder had nothing to do with she or any "young people" making "bad decisions" - it was a murder-for-hire scheme caused by a business deal gone bad between Juliana's father and the employer of the suspects.

It seems LE are pretty confident they have the right people. I'm so relieved Juliana and her family will finally get some justice, and it also renews my hope in other older cases that seem to have hit a dead-end, like I thought Juliana's had. It's comforting to know that just because media attention has died down, LE is still carefully working behind the scenes, determined to fit each piece of the puzzle together to solve these cases.

Ironic, however, that most people assumed her murder was the result of bad relations with one of her ex-boyfriends or due to some conflict or seedy association she made through working at a strip club - nope, the connection was through her father's business deal. Just goes to show you never really do know, even when you think you do! (which I am guilty of often:blushing:)

Rest in Peace, Juliana.

ETA: Darn, the quote feature didn't work like I wanted it to. Hope the beginning and end of Songline's post are clear.

Juliana Redding's Alleged Murderer, Kelly Soo Park, Pleads Not Guilty
Posted by Carlin DeGuerin Miller

"LOS ANGELES (CBS) Kelly Soo Park pleaded not guilty Tuesday to the murder of Juliana Redding ..."

"During Tuesday's hearing it was revealed that a judge has frozen the bank accounts of three people connected to Park, including her mother, a man who was apparently involved in a failed business deal with Juliana's father, and a third man who was arrested with Park but released, according to the Los Angeles Times."

"Park's attorney, Kay Rackauckas, acknowledged that the accounts were connected to her client but said he didn't know why they were frozen, according to the paper."

""I don't know why they froze them," Rackauckas told the paper. "It's all a big secret.""

Also, prosecutors asked that Park's bail be raised from $1 million to $5 million, the judge will decide on that motion July 20.

Seems to be some confusion in this article as to whether Kay Rackauckas is a he or a she.

Juliana Redding Murder: Bail Increased For Suspect Kelly Soo Park

By Dennis Romero, Tue., Jul. 20 2010 @ 4:36PM
LA Weekly

"Bail for the woman accused of killing an up-and-coming model/actress was increased on Tuesday from $1 million to $3.5 million."

"Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz agreed to up the bail, but not to the $5 million mark requested by prosecutors."

"Park received $250,000 from her employer, Dr. Munir Uwaydah, three weeks before the murder, according to Santa Monica Det. Karen Thompson. Park's own father received $113,400 before her arrest, according to court documents."

Huh??? Has Park's father been mentioned before?
