The problem is with all those "synthetic" marijuana's out there who knows what was really smoked. They have a very different reaction than the old mj of the 70's. Think of Demi Moore and her 911 call.

Is there a reason why synthetic marijuana is being brought up?

That's pot country. Cannabis farms everywhere. Regular marijuana is extremely easily accessible and synthetic marijuana is not.

Everyone needs to listen to the podcast episode. There is a lot of information given by Karlie's bio-mom. At the very end of the podcast, the bio-mom says that the stepmother's vehicle is in the body shop. She doesn't know why -- detailing? damage repair?
I agree, I don't have fb, so the audio played/information was.. I don't know, enlightening to say the least.

IMO the way she acted was not that of a person that smoked just regular marijuana. For example staying awake all night

hi, i have just listened to nancy's podcast an have a few questions that i am not sure if there are answers?
  • dad says she was at a party and just gone
  • gone from the party?
  • statement is strange why would you say gone and not say she was missing?
  • why did they immediately decide she was missing? teenagers often go out to see friends
  • who was at the party? did anyone see her leave?
  • karlie rang melissa and asked to get picked up from the party, she was scared
  • why was she scared? did melissa pick her up?
  • melissa says karlie was in bed with her at 5.30 am this is the time she was apparently last seen by melissa
  • where was dad?
  • pj's ?
  • leaves without cell ph, apparently it was left on the kitchen bench
  • friend saw it in the bedroom
  • door cracked ... what does that mean exactly?
  • disorientation why?
  • seen walking to highway by who?
  • why didn't that person stop and talk to her?
  • how did she get to the highway?
  • why put it out there that she might have abducted?
  • had there been strange people in the area?

i hope this meets tos rules as acceptable
cheers

Just listened too. This has to be one of the more bizarre cases I have ever seen. So much doesn’t add up. My heart breaks for her mom.

That is where NG is useful - she's not afraid of pointing fingers.

110 pounds at 5'7"? That's very thin; BMI of 17.2 (for perspective, a BMI under 18.5 is considered underweight and the ICD-10 required a BMI under 17.5 for an anorexia diagnosis [no longer the case]). If 110 pounds is an accurate figure, I wonder if it could indicate something about her psychological state or potential substance use.

I was wondering if she had issues with eating disorders/anorexia. My friend's daughter had problems with anorexia as a teen and would become dehydrated/disoriented/confused and weak.

Pulling the questions out of the comment and rewording a bit - please let me know if I got it wrong:
  • Dad says Karlie was at a party when she disappeared
  • Karlie rang Melissa, asked to get picked up from the party, she was scared
  • Melissa says Karlie was in bed with her at 5.30AM
  • Karlie's cell phone left on the kitchen bench, friend saw it in the bedroom
Related Questions:
  • door cracked (which door?)
  • disoriented?
  • the kitchen bench in the same house as Melissa's bed?
  • seen walking to highway by who?
  • why didn't that person stop and talk to her?
  • how did she get to the highway?
  • why put it out there that she might have abducted?
  • had there been strange people in the area?

I looked up archives of missing person reports in Mono Co, and all I can find is missing hikers and backpackers.

Didn't see any reports of women abducted in the area. I may have missed them though...

Melissa said Karlie was in bed with her at 5;30 AM

Now read what she told dateline and tell me what you make of that.

The next morning, around 5:45 a.m., Melissa said she went through her usual routine of opening the kids’ doors and saying good morning to them. She told Dateline she saw Karlie in her bed at that time. Melissa said she then went back to sleep for a little bit. But when she woke up a little bit later and opened Karlie’s door again, Karlie was nowhere to be found.
