Knowing where she parked would make it easier to understand how she might have made the mistake of driving down the wrong road and straight into the water.
Did you see the video with SS pointing to where the car was parked? She pointed towards the road and said that was the road to get into the park. Can you tell where that location is on the map? It looked closer to the road than I thought.

Thx for the maps, as usual, @otto - super helpful (i keep making mine from my phone and it’s a bit of a pain).

But yes to these possibilities. OR, she could have parked at #1 and instead of backing out, decided to cut straight down toward #3 and gone left along the brush line, planning to meet up with the official (though still unpaved) road again, and instead missed that and went into the water. :(

Thanks again for the great visuals.
I've been reading other msm, ss, and YouTube and I am almost dead set her route was #3

He may have a better off road vehicle than I do. Mine is a standard mid size SUV similar to Kiely's.

That's why I posted the info yesterday because his video in no way prepared me for what it would actually be like to drive there. I also do not know whether he was driving the leg that I didn't take, from the parking area out and if that portion of the road is smoother. But that's not the portion near the lake.
In the video posted here, PI was not driving an SUV-- looked like a sports car. JMO

so on this next map, I suspect the parking was the higher location not the one nearer the water

This is excellent. I am leaning more and more #3.
I don't lean toward 3 because I think her parking was closer to the road back home

Everything about this case is hearsay until LE gives us the Facts at a Press Conference.....We have heard no facts from them, just need for information. RBBM
Here is the list of Verified Facts for this Case from LE (no MSM verified facts to add yet)
I have updated this list with facts from LE since I last posted this list Thread5, Post704, Fri., 8/19.

1) 8/5, 6pm store surveillance image of KR with description of KR's apparel (black body shirt, green dickies, vans, etc.)

2) two sweatshirts / hoodies: a) KR wore a pink & white one at the Prosser Camp party per video; b) a black one she had

3) jewelry KR may have worn include nose ring on left nostril, multiple piercings on both ears, belly piercing, and various jewelry such as necklaces, bracelets, and rings

4) markings on KR's skin include a cross tattooed on left rib, "17" tattooed on right hip, and a scar on left arm

5) make, model and license plate # of KR's car (2013 Honda CRV, CA 8YUR127)

6) ram sticker is on back window of KR's car, below the windshield wiper.

7) confirmation KR was at the 8/5-8/6 Prosser Camp party

8) a text to Mom from KR's phone at 8/5, 11:30pm

9) final ping from KR's phone at 8/6, 12:33am from party location (near water and land)

10) KR may have gone somewhere after the Prosser Camp party (but SO says no one has come forward to say they saw KR leave or where KR may have been heading)

11) some adults initially discouraged people and possibly teens coming forward with information, but was resolved as of Tuesday, 8/16 SO press conference. However as of 8/18, SO says some have come forward, many are staying silent.

12) upwards of 400 juveniles have been interviewed [Note: this may not mean 400 people were at party]

13) Adventures with Purpose (AWP) located KR's car in Prosser Lake on 8/21 within a search zone that LE has been searching since the very beginning of our operation.

14) KR's car was found at at depth of 14 - 15 feet but the water level, since the 6th, has also dropped a vertical of 3.5-4 feet which could be 20-25 feet
[further] off of shore

15) one body was found in the car and an autopsy 8/23 confirmed the descendent was KR

16) this is still an active investigation including the CHP (California Highway Patrol) conducting a fatality traffic collision investigation and utilizing their MAIT (Multi-disciplinary Active Investigation Team) to harness more data.

Again, if I have missed or misstated anything, please let me know.

p.s. for timeline, maps, media coverage, interviews, etc. please see the separate thread for this case with that info. A link to that thread has been shared within the threads, but also at the beginning of each thread for easy access.

I wonder if lower center of gravity makes a difference. My SUV was lurching all over the place. His is definitely lurching but his center of gravity is much lower.

It's also just gotta be that it's not 3D. IMO his video makes the road look much flatter, smoother, and even wider than it actually is to drive it. Like when you take a photo of any landscape and it simply can't capture how it's really like to be there.

From the press conference.

Reporter - They also said the car was 14 ft. deep. Did you all go that far to look for the car?

Nevada Captain - Yeah, some of that information is sometimes deceiving, so yeah the car was reported at 14 or 15 ft. However, the water level, since the 6th, has also dropped a vertical of 3.5-4 ft. which could be 20-25 ft. off of shore, so a lot of things have changed in those aspects.

Video showing SS pointing to where Kiely's car was parked.

Timestamp 1:49.

Thank you! That clears up the question of whether she parked near the beach or on the road to the party. From the footage, we can see that she parked near the road.

That means that she took two wrong turns to end up in the reservoir.

Thank you for finding this.

So, @Truckeeite - have you driven the route out from the Sanctuary site to the boat ramp?
Isn’t that at least partially paved?
The first time I went out a couple weeks ago, I only drove the paved portion over to the boat ramp

This time I did not go to the boat ramp. The road is paved up until where I drew the X on my map. All the roads around the beach where she was found and where they had the party are unpaved.

I just know watching the video made me dizzy and queasy. Thanks, much @Truckeeite for all your efforts and photos.

I will say that after hearing the LE official state that helicopter searches are only about 15% effective (or did he say 5%? does anyone recall his statistic?), I'm leaning toward the use of drone searches for all future endeavors. After watching the PI's drone videos several times, it is so obvious that the reflection of the sky in the water can totally obscure what you see beneath the surface but if you're skilled at maneuvering the drone and its camera, you can change the angle, hover in one spot, change the angle again, only shoot at certain times of the day where there's bound to be less reflection, use the sun to your advantage and don't let it obscure things best as possible, and so on. That's not to say you can always see beneath the surface, but it seems to trump a helicopter moving quickly. Obviously a helicopter has its benefits as well, esp if you're looking for a vehicle in an open area, or something that may be sticking out of the water, but after they get past that initial frantic phase and if they have a smaller search area to target... we need LE offices to be equipped with drones.

Edited to add - the statistic he quoted was 5%, thanks to AllAboutTrial for sharing that excerpt of the transcript as I'd forgotten the exact number.

Google maps date on the bottom is not the date of the image. If I look at my family's "Ranch" property image it say's "2022 Data" but it's from last year. I can tell because I can see the solar panel's I put up and where a neighbor cut brush and put in a long section of fence. It doesn't show a road extension that we did in January of this year.

In my opinion it's hard to say when the Google Maps image of Prosser Lake was taken. JMO.
Agreed. Best to rely on the aerial photos during the car recovery, which shows higher water levels than Google maps.

Now with SS stating where KR parked my view has changed. She didn't attempt to drive the shoreline home.

Sorry, RedHaus, I chuckled and shook my head at your comment. Google Maps says a lot of things that aren’t true.

Look up “death by Google Maps” for why total reliance on Google Maps is not a good idea.

(By the way, I very much appreciated your comments and research on the Esther Dingley(?) thread. That was a tough story.)
Thanks @windrower. I appreciate your Dingley participation too. That was indeed a tough case... and sad, like this one!

You know, the Google Maps research that @wnk did up thread (just catching up from last night, wow!) struck me as a possible scenario here. He/she found that Google Maps plots two options to exit the party location. One is the one we all know about and then the one that we've come to know as the 'white road' from @otto, that may only be passable in winter.

What if poor KR used her GPS (a 2013 car model may not have great GPS) to get home and it took her on the white road? As we've all come to learn, the 'white road' is currently under water per the ariel photos of the 8/21 recovery effort.

ETA: last sentence for clarity
