GUILTY CA - Kris Anderson, 57, murdered, Santa Monica, 11 June 2016 *arrest*

This is taking a long time. What could be delay?

I have no idea! Just searched & only coming up with an article saying he would be sentenced on 8/1/22 - but of course that was cancelled & moved to 12/9/22 - so do not know.
The jail site shows his next hearing on 2/17/23 - whether THAT is his new sentencing date - I have no idea...

Maybe someone local can search & come up with something better than I?

Thanks for the important detail.

As a side note, Second Degree murder in California has a 15 year determinate sentence (15 to life).

So..... If the 15% automatic reduction exists, he is looking at a parole possibility in 13 years. After applying his 6 years of time served credit, this turns into potential parole in 7 years.

Of course, being eligible for parole does not mean that one actually gets parole.

He’s got 6 years “time served” in the LA county jail which is not a nice place but better than any CA prison he will go to next. The sentencing hearing postponements continue..
I guess that’s the best his celebrity lawyer could do for him. Jmo

I am thinking the delay is due to..... creativity on the part of the convict.

As @everybodhi mentioned, county jails are a lot more pleasant than state prisons in regards to living condition and who you need to live with.

As a result, some inmates can probably get pretty creative in delaying the inevitable transfer from county to state. That aside, respect for the victim would seem to demand that the now convicted defendant not be allowed to continuously delay being sent to State prison.

In short, commit state level crimes, go to a state level prison.... .

He did have his sentencing rescheduled twice already - maybe they are doing it again. I shall go ahead & put him on 3/10/23 & will check the court site now & then.
