Police seek help in search for missing man Lance Perkins. Sightings have been reported in Old Town & the Midway area http://kfmb.us/3Q-Cw

That's very encouraging if the sightings are accurate. Old Town is about a 45 minute walk from the medical center in Hillcrest, not that he necessarily did it that night. The Midway area is just under I-5 from Old Town. All the more reason to contact the LE officers who work among the homeless in these areas, as was suggested.

The latest from the FB page for Lance on 12/20. No mention of the sightings.

The sergeant in charge of Lance's case said that the canyon has been searched pretty well (but not with dogs) and no unidentified bodies have turned up. He thinks Lance is in a hospital somewhere and that they will not release his name due to privacy laws.

Question: Won't a hospital give the info to LE?

No, I do not believe the hospital HAS to give LE any information, unless the hospital thinks their patient is a victim or has committed a crime.

Now, they can give LE information on any patient that signs a form allowing them to release their information. But they have to have that signed form before LE gets anything without a court order (except in cases where they are victims of a crime).

If the canyon has been searched, I don't think he's in it. I drove by it a few days ago in an effort to get a feel for possible route. As far as canyons go, this one is wee tiny, it runs parallel to the sidewalk, and is maybe 15' deep, then a steep but short climb to meet the back fences of houses. It's less than a mile long, vegetation is low to the ground mostly and sparse/dormant, with a concrete drainage half pipe that is uncovered. As far as searchability, I'd say it's pretty easy.

I did see evidence of people living in the canyon, a small area with a tent and some trash scattered around. Not unusual here.

The street that runs along the long side of the canyon is often used by locals to avoid the freeway when going between the neighborhoods of Hillcrest and Mission Valley.

Hopefully butterflyclip has a way to gather a search party and check out the midway area.

An article in the OC Register yesterday.

His mother hadn't been told about the sightings and thinks it's unlikely he is out on the street.

“If he were on the street, he’d be dead,” she said. “He hasn’t refilled his prescriptions in two months or used his debit cards.”
She said she hopes he is in a medical facility somewhere – either in the San Diego area or south of the border – and just hasn’t been identified yet.

Thank you, Lilibet. I wish there was a legal way for LE to inquire at these institutions and hospitals. We all hope he is in a safe place too.

I wish WE knew what was said on the calls. We always find a way to dissect things. He was obviously in an in-the-moment state of mind so whatever he said could actually be very relevant, no matter how it appears on the surface.

Bumping for Lance. Here's hoping for answers in 2017...soon! :heartbeat:

What type of medical facility could Lance possibly be in for this long? 3 months -- he would have had someone call his mother?! I'm really surprised they haven't found him yet.

Is anyone looking for him? With all of his connections in Hollywood I would have thought there'd be a full on manhunt. I feel very sad for his mom, butterflyclip, and anyone who truly cared about him. Super sad that there isn't more we can do.

I still wonder why Hollywood didn't ban together to get the word out. All those stars didn't recognize a missed opportunity that they could some day be featured as awesome sauce in the search for one of their own.

It would have been nice if Hollywood had stepped up. There wasn't even much contributed to his Mom's account. Alison Arngrim (Nellie Oleson on Little House on the Prairie) tweeted, but that's all I found. Probably a case of people waiting for someone else to get things started and no one did. Very disappointing. :(
