Publicity perhaps???

That's what I'm thinking. Unfortunately, I don't believe that publicity is going to benefit the family in anyway. I actually think it will make it worse because the media is probably digging up every little thing they can about the Fowlers. But just being attached to this case is gold for these lawyers; It doesn't even matter whether they win. The lawyers are definitely doing their part to keep the case in the news, by giving the media soundbites to report on every day.

Yes, publicity for the super-lawyers that love to tweet is what I meant. The family has seemed to shy away from the press. Publicity is certainly not going to help anyone except the lawyers. I feel bad for the kids if the lawyers turn this into a circus. :banghead: ETA - As if it can't get any worse!

The family refusing photos or speaking opportunities even from the start makes me believe they always knew what had (likely) happened and what was coming.

Me too. If you believed a stranger had killed your daughter and your son could describe him wouldn't you be begging the public to help catch him before he hurt another child or tried to go after your son?

Is it possible that they took two different cars to the game? Maybe one car had Barney in it...another car had Crystal, the daughter, and her boyfriend in it? If I counted correctly, if everyone but Leila and IF went to the game, that would be eight people. I really feel like the sister and her boyfriend were in the same car as Crystal, and were relaying information they were getting from IF to her. If Barney was in the car too, you would think he would be the one talking to IF on the phone. It's interesting to me that there's no mention of Barney.

I am also wondering if they were already driving home when they got the call from IF?
BBM...it is likely that they were in 2 cars. Players usually have to be at the ball field at least an hour before game time. My boyfriend/fiancé and my stepson go in one car and I arrive in another car at game time. I don't like to sit through the warm ups.

Not directed at you Eileenhawkeye, but I'm wondering why there is so much negativity about CW. It's almost as though she is being judged because she isn't married to BF. All that should matter is her love and devotion to all of the children she is responsible for. A piece of paper doesn't make a person more fit to be a parent. They have a big family. Weddings are costly and may not be a priority right now. That doesn't mean CW doesn't genuinely love the kids.

And re calling them her kids...my bf's kids look more like me than either of their parents so people assume I'm their mom. I used to explain that they aren't my kids but as we grew closer, the kids seemed offended and I felt bad, like I was denying them. I was pleasantly surprised to see one of the kids listed me on their emergency card at school as "stepmom' and I heard our youngest tell someone he had to ask his mom (me) if he could go to the park.

There is no way I'd tell the kids not to call me mom or stepmom if that's what they are comfortable with. We all know who their real mother is and I will never try to replace her but as far as we are concerned, I am their stepmom and they are my children. Seems the same way in the Fowler household. If it's ok with the Fowlers why is it such a problem for others?

I haven't seen the FB comments CW posted about PR. She should not be posting negative remarks about the kids mom. That's one way to alienate the kids from her.

I'll admit that my issue with CW was the FB comments. I'm not against couples living together. My husband and I lived together for 2 years before we married. I had a 3yo son (now 17) when we got together and he has raised Jay like his own (later adopted him). The one thing we never did was bad mouth my ex in front of my son or anywhere that he may read it, see it or be told about it. Even after he gave up his rights to Jay we continued to speak of him respectfully. It is just what adults do. My own parents didn't behave as maturely and they created a very toxic environment. The fact that CW went after PR at a time like this makes me dislike her a great deal. Same goes for BF who should have been adult enough to tell his gf to grow up and take that crap down before the media started reported on it.

I would just like to add; in all their grief (immediately after a child dies), somehow it was important that it was specifically pointed out by LE that they were told by the father & Crytal that they wanted Crystal to be known as the mother.

Priorities changed and it seems they or their lawyers want her to be the fiance now. Really???

I looked up old articles in this newspaper archive database I have access to...and I can't find one article talking about him being a lawyer for a murder case. It seems that he was a public defender for the federal court system until around 2008, and very few murder cases are tried in federal court. I really think this might be his first murder case.

I'm not as sure; if you scroll down, he also tweeted last July about interviewing another murder client:

Mark J. Reichel ‏@reichellaw 8 Jul 11

Going to interview a murder client today

FWIW, it's not necessarily considered 'unethical' for professionals to tweet about their activities within the scope of their job. Lots do it; it just seems a bit different, maybe, reading a lawyer who tweets about his work. (Most are busy enough that they don't use social media to promote their firm or gain new clients.)

It's considered part of the sales-pitch aspect of Twitter.

Whaaat?!? She did that? Very uncool!

She had a status about PR speaking to the media. It wasn't flattering and while she didn't name PR (though it was obvious), her friends did and their comments were even harsher. Shortly afterwards she posted the status asking for privacy after IF was arrested. Many media outlets, including the front page of CNN, carried her statement and links to her FB page were everywhere. It just really turned me against her because her page (now deleted) was completely public and there was her bashing of a grieving mother for all the world to see.

Wow, talk about "keeping it classy" eh?

THANK YOU! IMO.....The recent comments posted and encouraged by her on FB for the world to see should be a clue of whats actually being said at home..the fact that it was taken down was not because they suddenly realized how truly hateful and wrong it was...it was taken down because it would conflict with the LoL-yer's Loving Brady Bunch happy family image we're about to be spoon fed..

Hi dinaslala!

I hope your friend is doing okay given this terrible situation... Let her know that people are thinking about her and her family. This cannot be easy.... I cannot even imagine.

Unless the neighbor was right outside the window...how would he hear? Wasn't the neighbor across the street? I can't hear anything from my neighbor's house. Also, blue22 posted that her father was stabbed, and he said that you lose your ability to scream out when it is happening.

But CW told the 911 dispatcher that IF heard LF screaming. So I guess I'm confused; why the debate over whether or not she could have screamed? Either she didn't for some reason and IF lied about that, or she did, as stabbing is painful, and plenty of stabbing victims scream as they are attacked and fending off their attacker.

BTW, concerning the earlier post by someone who mentioned her dad couldn't scream when stabbed in the side--different stab wounds would cause different effects. When a wound is in the side and deep, it could puncture the lung--which would indeed take one's breath away and prohibit screaming. But we've not been told where L's stab wounds were. Though there were many, they may have been less deep (especially if delivered via the pocketknife IF had brought to school earlier). They may not have punctured a lung or taken away the ability to scream.

If the LOLyer goes that route he will be doing IF a great disservice. The jury is likely to be much more sympathetic towards a young child that became the victim of a toxic home environment. Reading comments from "locals" around the web tells me that there is no shortage of people that would testify to that scenario.

A great disservice to I?

And please clarify WHICH young child became the VICTIM of the toxic environment...

Did he have the phone in the bathroom and never come out?

Or, if the story is he heard Leila scream, came out of the bathroom and saw the man, then ran back/hid in the bathroom, how did he get to the phone without checking on Leila?

The fact no mention was made that Leila was bleeding and injured on the call to his family and all the other stories in the 911 call are damning.

I seriously doubt the BF made up the stories that were being passed on to CW.

In fact, IF could have spoken to CW first, then she hands off the phone and uses another cell to call 911 while keeping IF on the phone with BF.

She seems to have all the "facts" when she calls 911 because I don't recall her asking any questions of anyone else when questioned by the 911 operator.
How do we know he was even in he bathroom?

Clearly Leila is the biggest victim but unless IF was just evil (and PR seems to suggest that is not the case) then something happened to turn a 12 year old boy into a brutal killer. A home where the adults bashed each other could not have had a positive effect on him or any of the other children.

The family refusing photos or speaking opportunities even from the start makes me believe they always knew what had (likely) happened and what was coming.

It makes me SAD.
I don't know their motive but it limits what people can do in memory of Leila.
I've done only a couple of slideshows to music for child victims.
Of course Juliette... then Kyron and Caylee. It has to be just the right song.

I wanted to do one for Leila... because my daughter that age also ADORES "Lady Bellum."
When I saw the whole "authorized picture" thing and realize I could only find a few pictures...
I realized I couldn't do one anyway. I was pretty disappointed.
