New photos just tweeting by surveillance video. POI Is Mady!

Why is FBI involved? We want every available resource. We called them in to help.

Q: Is there a POI

A: POI is Maddy.

That was a great come back to reporters question.

We are NOT calling this a kidnapping. We are looking for a LOST child. :(

Video surveillance at the complex at 5:00. They do have witnesses as well who saw her at 5:00 p.m. in the complex.

This is me, not from the presser , but would a kid who grew up that near the beach know better than to go to the beach alone and near / in the water? Dogs followed her to beach but did it end at that water's edge?

It is interesting the scooter is gone as well. Makes you think she scooted off to far, got lost maybe?

Is this Joyce Blaschke speaking? I really , really like her ! It's always nice to have a good, enthusiastic spox for local PD. She wants this baby back!

Not a huge ton of new info but no signs of foul play is always a good thing. Let's hope that does not change. :please: Find Maddy!

LE is being very pointed to the MSM there to NOT CONTACT the family. They need their privacy right now. ("I had better not find out any one of you were beating on their door or ringing their phones.")

My FB contact says the river near where they live is currently dry. The bank is steep and it's easy to fall down, but it's dry.

The beach in question is obviously not dry - it's the pacific.

She stated she was outside playing with friends. Was she alone when she went missing?

How far is the beach from where she was last seen? Would she have had to cross that busy road?

Thanks to all for providing presser updates.

I am following along but just can't be so involved. Frightening situation, this little angel is too young to be out there all alone. I am so very worried that she isn't able to get home. Holding my breath and heart.

Glad FBI is in and I am glad Polly Klass has offered assistance.

It certainly took a really long time to get the word out. Twitter says it was posted about 2 hours ago, which would be 9 PM PST, and she went missing at 4 PM.

An article I read said she was last seen at 5:05PM PST on a surveillance camera, was reported missing at 6 PM PST.

As I suspected.

I do find it odd that they haven't walked that river bed already. It's less than 2 miles to the beach (possibly quite a bit less). Maybe I am being too optimistic but if she had fallen down the bank yesterday afternoon and gotten hurt, they would need to find her ASAP.

At this point, can only wait for futher information...and pray. As with all missing people, I guess.

It's a little less than 2 miles to the SC Boardwalk from River St. She could have taken the San Lorenzo Riverway, which FWIW I never felt safe near when I was a student at UCSC. I'm still trying to catch up on info from this case. I lived in SC for about 5 years and still have a lot of friends down there.

For any Santa Cruz locals on here....how far away is the boardwalk amusement park away from where she went missing? My 8 year old loves it there and, if left on his own or with some adventurous friends, might try and scooter there if close enough to do so. TIA
